I wonder if reconciliation is possible?

With Prince Philip now gone, the queen not as robust as she once was and grieving her loss, Prince Charles looked distraught today, Harry with a new baby on the way, memories of Diana's funeral today....I wonder if now isn't the perfect time for them to just all get together show their love for each other and clear the air (perhaps without Meghan's presence as she seems to inflame things).

I think it'll be telling how long Harry chooses to stay in the UK before he returns to the US (a clear indication of whether he's willing to hang around for a little while to mend fences or rush back home to Meghan and Oprah and Gail) I really wish the best for them all, family is everything but I'm not holding my breath.

And yes Harry has gone back, and before anyone makes a big deal about him missing the Queens bday, its been reported in media even Charles or .William aren't visiting the Queen on her birthday. So nothing to see here

Exactly.
And bear in mind Charles stayed at Highgrove when his father died, his thoughts on it were from there, Camilla hotfooted it back to Wiltshire straight after the funeral. So Harry really cannot be criticised. Let's hope anyway.

When George VI came to the throne he had his siblings, their spouses and his mother supporting him full-time (or the 1930s aristocrat version of full-time, which may not be quite the same thing!) There were six of them but there was also quite a few more distantly related royals (cousins etc) floating around who supported him to varying degrees.

Lockdownbear · 21/04/2021 11:11

Thanks for that, some very knowledgeable people on here.

The birthday itself isn't the issue. But it's not the best comparison to say 'everyone else left too so Harry is no different'. He hasn't seen the Queen in person at all for over a year. The others have. That might make him feel it would be nicer to stick around and pay a visit.

@Nanasueathome

Strange that you are fast to ask about W leaks, when this and other RF threads are full of accusations that MM has been leaking stories.

The call was between W and H, RN said she got the info from the palace (W's people).

Oh, and thank you Dan Wooten for telling us that it's the RF who have been leaking negative stories about H&M. And how can I forget Piers Morgan saying he got thank you messages from RF for attacking MM.

Lockdownbear · 21/04/2021 11:22

Surely he's seen her other than at the funeral before he went back?Shock

Roussette · 21/04/2021 11:35

But it's not the best comparison to say 'everyone else left too so Harry is no different'

I am talking about the very special circumstances of Prince Phillip's death and the days before. That's all. Not the previous year.

IrmaFayLear · 21/04/2021 11:41

Mummy194, your gossip is no better than anyone else’s gossip.

As for Gayle King, I will criticise her because she instantly repeated what was a private conversation, and I can’t believe that either Harry or Meghan were pleased that she did this. It strikes me that H was probably lured with a seemingly sympathetic enquiry into talking about his phone conversations with Charles and William, and did not imagine that it would be an exclusive broadcast five minutes later.

Mummy194 · 21/04/2021 11:45

I am not talking gossip here.

This is the footage of when Gayle King talked and right at the beginning, they are discussing the RN Sunday times article. It was cut off by most British media - ITV, maybe that is why you are not aware :

I read a few days ago the Queen told Harry not to stay. Looks like HM wishes to spend the day on her own. And not be reminded of the Oprah fiasco.

Roussette · 21/04/2021 11:48

Or she just might want the day on her own? I don't think you can read the Queen's mind.

ancientgran · 21/04/2021 12:10

Don't blame her, I wouldn't want to look at my GS if he'd caused so much upset when his granddad was dying.
Jacopo · 21/04/2021 12:16

I think it was just as well that Harry returned to Montecito. The supportive members of the Royal Family (those who have not chosen a different path in life) have already drawn up a rota of visits to give the Queen some company, so there was no need for him to stick around. And if she wants to be alone we’ve already seen she’s still quite capable of jumping into her car and driving herself off for a while, as she did the day after the funeral. Come to think of it, if she had wanted to see Harry she could have popped in to see him that day. Maybe she did! I wouldn’t have, in her position, but maybe she did.

Nishky · 21/04/2021 13:21

The fact that Rousette was so adamant that Harry was staying until tomorrow shows that none of us really have a fucking clue- everyone whatever side they are on interprets stuff to fit their agenda and then claims it as fact. Not many are prepared to accept that.

  • Disclaimer- unless anyone on this thread is H or M or W or K - in which case apologies your Highness, you DO know what you are talking about

It’s a shame that a thread discussing whether reconciliation becomes so polarised

Roussette · 21/04/2021 13:28

Nishky I was not so adamant as you put it. I pointed out I had read a number of news reports and took a view from them that he was staying. See upthread.

But what does it matter? Apart from you having the opportunity to have a poke at me as per normal and you making this thread polarised.

Mummy194 · 21/04/2021 13:32

@Nishky

By singling out @Roussette, who was never actually 'adamant' about anything, when lots of posters are on here making all sorts of assumptions and accusations against H&M. I would say you are the one who is making this thread polarised.

Nishky · 21/04/2021 14:54

@Roussette -have a poke at you as per normal- what are you talking about. We have not often posted on the same thread recently- I defended you when things got really nasty last year.

@Mummy194 I think not

Nishky · 21/04/2021 14:56

@Roussette here is a direct quote from you

‘Yes, Harry is staying here for her birthday tomorrow before he flies back.’

Not exactly ambiguous

Roussette · 21/04/2021 15:02

I then explained why I thought that and clarified what I said.

But don't bother to read the rest of my posts... they might mess up your theory about me. 🤣

What does it fucking matter? This thread isn't about me, I thought you didn't want it polarised but wanted a good discussion about reconciliation?

Obviously a lie from you!

Nishky · 21/04/2021 15:06

I have no theory about you - you are inflating your own importance

Roussette · 21/04/2021 15:08

I defended you when things got really nasty last year

I'm sorry I can't remember, there was so much nastiness but I want to thank you for that.
Can we drop the 'Harry going back/not going back' please?
I would really like that.
Up to you. Let's move on if you're OK with that.
Smile

Viviennemary · 21/04/2021 15:10

But to get back to the original title of the thread. I don't think its likely a reconciliation has taken place nor is likely to in the near future. That day William had to defend his own family from accusations of racism. No we are very much not a racist family. I really admired him for answering that reporters question just shouted at him. I bet he was furious to be put in that position.

ohforarainyday · 21/04/2021 15:15

I really admired him for answering that reporters question just shouted at him. I bet he was furious to be put in that position.

It was obviously staged. That's why he just happened to have a black woman with him, and why only reporters from royal-friendly publications were present.

Nishky · 21/04/2021 15:19

@Roussette fair enough. I used your post as an example- it was not an attack.
