A rather splendid piper........

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 15:42

Ah it went up to 15 for a ‘related’ event inc wake, only on Monday 12 April. (Good timing Phil!)

Roussette · 17/04/2021 15:43

Totally agree with Anne's sentiments. And my parents died within 10 days of each other after over 60 years of marriage. It was just such a shock

LemonViolet · 17/04/2021 15:43

This chap looks straight out of the Wizengamot* with his colourful robe and magic wand. I bet Phil would have had something to say about that.

*Harry Potter ref

Oh now the pipes :-(

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/04/2021 15:43

Last post? I thought it was to be something else? Call to arms or something?

BlueRabbitWasNaughty · 17/04/2021 15:43

Credit to the camera and sound crew also!

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/04/2021 15:44

So can they hear the music in the abbey?

SoupDragon · 17/04/2021 15:44

Oh my... how those bagpipes faded out was so emotional

Cornettoninja · 17/04/2021 15:44

For all the changes Prince Phillips funeral has had to endure due to circumstance, it really has produced some beautiful and poignant imagery. I think it’s been beautiful.

That's after the last post I think

Thanks

Oh the bagpiper on his own walking out through the open door and the sound leaving with him. Such a powerful image in the empty space of the church.

Chickydoo · 17/04/2021 15:45

Oh the last post 😢

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 15:45

Call to Arms when they lower the coffin into the vault.

The conducting-whilst-playing’s great isn’t it?!

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/04/2021 15:45

Beautiful

SoupDragon · 17/04/2021 15:46

The last post always makes me cry

mateysmum · 17/04/2021 15:46

Blimey those Chapel builders knew a bit about acoustics

the80sweregreat · 17/04/2021 15:46

The last post is so moving.

thecognoscenti · 17/04/2021 15:46

@SoupDragon

The last post always makes me cry
Me too. So poignant and dignified 😭
ImAncient · 17/04/2021 15:46

It’s very beautifully done. RIP Prince Philip.

SliderTimeYay · 17/04/2021 15:47

I feel so much for the Queen and her family. Am shedding a tear but all beautifully done. Also remembering the tiny funereal for my brother and for my mother in law last year and how painful it was to have to socially distance when grieving for loved ones.

Roussette · 17/04/2021 15:47

Thanks freckles

Oh my, this trumpeting is just wonderful. They would just not have these acoustics if there were 600 people there. I think it's very fitting for our times and for Prince Phillip

the80sweregreat · 17/04/2021 15:47

Such a dignified and moving ceremony.

viques · 17/04/2021 15:47

@toffeebutterpopcorn

So can they hear the music in the abbey?
They are in there. Congregation in the choir ( not spelled like that) music in the nave.
FlattestWhite · 17/04/2021 15:47

How does the coffin get lowered into the vault? They don't have to carry it down?
