Watching on BBC 1. Wish Huw would shut up and let us listen to the bands/watch them March.

Why was the Queen sat totally alone, she seemed to have a whole row to herself. Why wasn't Charles sat 2 spaces down which would surely have been 2m distance. All her close family seemed to be opposite.

@TableFlowerss

I loved Harry, William and Kate walking together 😀 hopefully the start of new beginnings 💜
Me too.

Ha take that media- that's ruined your plans to highlight the rift that you exaggerated.

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 16:08

Yes, realistically, and barring strange untimely deaths, the Queen’s is likely to be next and they won’t get away with a small ceremony for that.

Abraxan · 17/04/2021 16:08

@LemonViolet

I didn’t see Charles & Camilla or Anne & Tim walking, they were probably in a car, and the Queen’s cousins are all elderly and probably wouldn’t walk either.
Charles and Camilla were walking. Charles was putting his handkerchief away

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

It was a very poignant service, and my heart broke for the Queen, sitting on her own.

My father wanted ‘For those in peril in the sea’ at his funeral, but he died suddenly, and in the shock afterwards, I forgot. I still kick myself for that.

It’s ok, it happens Flowers I’m sorry for your loss. Maybe in the near future, when you have a memorial or something like that, you can do that then.
JumpLeadsForTwo · 17/04/2021 16:08

Oh my, we British certainly can do ceremony. That was a beautiful send off.

Justmuddlingalong · 17/04/2021 16:09

I'm waiting for the media to twist things. ie Harry, William and Kate have a wonderful relationship when Meghan isn't there to cause problems.

They were waking. Charles clearly emotional, he had his hanky out and wiped at his eye.

William and Harry seemed completely at ease with one another. That got me.

She wasn't herself the whole time. Once the people walking arrived Andrew was two seats down from her, Anne & Tim two down from him and Harry from them.

They were more hidden in as they were in the middle row, rather than the front and back rows like the other side.

I think Andrew was sat a few seats down from here.

It’s amazing isn’t it? Flawless choreography!
JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:11

@Roussette

BBC said that Phillip had planned the Land Rover for 18 years and made tweaks to it over the years. This would mean that the Queen has her funeral planned too
All of the senior royals have funerals planned well in advance.
JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 16:11

There was someone else sitting on the same side as HMQ wasn’t there?

Sparklingbrook · 17/04/2021 16:11

No lip reading possible either so the media will hate that too .What a bonus!

LemonViolet · 17/04/2021 16:11

Sorry I didn’t spot Charles!

SueSaid · 17/04/2021 16:11

'She wasn't herself the whole time. Once the people walking arrived Andrew was two seats down from her, Anne & Tim two down from him and Harry from them.'
Oh were they? I couldn't work out who was where.

The funerals of senior royals are already planned and rehearsed meticulously well in advance. Diana's was the one which caught them out and borrowed elements of the Queen Mother's.
SueSaid · 17/04/2021 16:12

'Oh my, we British certainly can do ceremony. That was a beautiful send off.'

Yes everything was both magnificent yet moving at the same time.

Ha yes very good point.

Some tabloid journalists will be scrabbling for a story today.

Slovenly pic of some of the people gathered outside (I wonder how the police handled that, they had warned people not to come)

LemonViolet · 17/04/2021 16:14

Where is the studio (BBC) - is that actually a window and they’re in the castle grounds? I thought it was a screen with live feed but the way Huw Edwards was talking sounds like they’re there

JanFebAnyMonth · 17/04/2021 16:14

*Lovely not slovenly!

JustLyra · 17/04/2021 16:14

Oh were they? I couldn't work out who was where.

@JaniieJones Yes, the way they were set out made it easy for the people walking in the procession to slip into their seats.

Andrew, Anne, Time and Harry went into the row with the Queen. Peter Philips and Earl Snowdon were in the row behind.

Then on the otherside Kate, Sophie & her children and Camilla were spread out in a way that meant only Kate had to stand to let Edward and William into their seats.

SunshineCake · 17/04/2021 16:15

This has just broken my heart. The Poor Queen. It has also provoked more discussion with DH about our funerals.

Much as I wanted to see the Queen it felt so wrong to do so and when we did, her head was bowed so low it just broke me.

viques · 17/04/2021 16:16

One final thought, I so much preferred the male royals in morning dress rather than their full military flashiness. Firstly the uniforms are terribly pretentious if they aren’t actual serving officers and in some cases have never served in the forces and secondly it made the service much more personal and intimate. There was enough pomp outside the chapel, enough recognition of the D of E military connections, that was the focus as it should have been.

Good call by her majesty, I know she was pushed into it by a couple of family members having a hissy ,but she made the right decision.
