The royal family

Has anyone actually had anything bad to say about Kate in all the years she has been with William? School friends, teachers, college mates all have the same opinion.

In the years before k&w got married it would have been easy to sell a story about Kate. There was never once any stories of mean girl behaviour, bitchiness & nastiness... Quite the contrary, Kate had to leave a school due to bullying & settled brilliantly in Marlborough college.
The worst said was referring to her & Pippa as the Wisteria sisters for social climbing...
Kate has always been described as determined, very hard working in school, diligent, kind & caring. Her family are fantastic, ambitious, hardworking & very supportive of all their children.
Anyone dare to differ with me? 😁

Though...she only got the job because she was buddy with the founder who leant Kate and Wills her Mustique holiday home...

tisonlymeagain · 10/03/2021 13:04

"“[Kate] rang me up one day and said: 'Could I come and talk to you about work?' She genuinely wanted a job but she needed an element of flexibility to continue the relationship with a very high-profile man and a life that she can't dictate.” Robinson recalled. “She's going to be dictated to when she's needed and not needed."

Robinson said she was “so impressed” by Kate’s work ethic, adding that she was “very mature for a 26-year-old.” She continued, “She sat in the kitchen at lunchtime and chatted with everyone from the van drivers to the accounts girls. She wasn't precious. A lot of people have distorted it to say we're friends with her parents but I've only met them four times.""?

@Rupertbeartrousers

I had a friend who was a year or two below her at school, quiet, sporty, hardworking were her words
That's exactly what I'm saying over the years teachers, former school mates, people from Bucklebury have said the same.. Diligent, consciousness, sporty kind... I'm sure the press especially the international media over the years (especially during w&k brief split) tried to find at least one naysayer but they simply aren't there...

Yeah I agree, Kate always come over as a very genuine and caring person.

I've never heard anything bad said about her!
I was looking online the other day photos of her and Prince Harry laughing together. So lovely too see

LonstantonSpiceMuseum · 10/03/2021 13:06

There's nothing bad to say, but nothing good to say either.
It's easy to just do nothing, coast along and toe the line like she has, but which she is entitled to do if she wants.

CatherineMorland · 10/03/2021 13:10

My colleague was the year below Kate at Marlborough.

She said Kate was lovely: friendly and very sporty. Apparently she was very involved in coaching the younger hockey players and was very popular with them.

I think what you're saying is true, and that is why William was allowed to marry her.
I think he'd never have been allowed to marry a Meghan, and I think he's a different character to Harry and was probably more willing to accept he may not have his free choice of wife.
I'm not saying he doesn't love her, or isn't happy. More that the fact she is boring without any skeletons made her a suitable choice.

CatherineMorland · 10/03/2021 13:17

I guess she was also very young when she met William. So fewer skeletons (exes) in the closet.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 10/03/2021 13:18

Why do so many women have so much to say about the Royal women? Nobody knows anything, it's just constant speculation and navel-gazing. It's really distasteful the way these threads are constantly pecking away.

FatCatThinCat · 10/03/2021 13:20

I'm from a similar background to Kate, grew up in a neighbouring village, went to the same primary school (although not at the same time as I'm quite a bit older), went on to different independent boarding schools. The culture is very different to normal life, you never talk about 'famous' people you went to school with. It's not the done thing. I've even received emails from my Old Girls Society reminding everybody not to talk to the press about certain ex pupils who are in the public eye.

cyclingmad · 10/03/2021 13:33

Or maybe people are clued up enough to know if you are going to speak out about a high profile person expect a serious amount of hatred, trolling and unreasonable inspection into your own life.

If I knew something about a hig profile person ill be dammed if I speak out, no matter any promises of sources remaining anonymous I wouldn't risk it. You are literally inviting hell into your life and the lover will be you and your life destroyed.

So I think that element definitely palys a part.

RowanAlong · 10/03/2021 13:50

Why are we trying to find things wrong with Kate? Don’t really see the point of this thread..but think
she’s making a good job of keeping her head down (and up) in what must be a very difficult role...

murbblurb · 10/03/2021 13:57

She doesn't seem to have fallen out with nearly as many people as Meghan...

Inthenightgarde · 10/03/2021 14:02

I worked at jigsaw whilst Kate was there. I used to see her in the kitchen, I would say she just kept herself to herself, she wasn’t talking to everyone.

ZenNudist · 10/03/2021 14:03

She has played a careful game to live a blameless life. She didn't even get another boyfriend when she split up with Will. Seems like she deserves her role. She clearly wanted it. Although the press scrutiny and duty side looks awful its made up for by privilege and living a great life.

cyclingmad · 10/03/2021 14:09

How do you know? You cannot saybwith any certainty only by what you see in the press being reported.
Poppins2016 · 10/03/2021 14:11

@CommanderBurnham

I do think as future Queen of England the press stay away from her.

Although I think she seems perfect and accepting of her role, she does seem a little boring. But who knows really?

Aren't most people a little boring? I don't see anything wrong with that....
MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 15:14

If she had fallen out with people the press would absolutely get wind of it. The US press & International press can print pretty much what they like.
I think she's too nice, too clever & Carol & Michael did such a great job raising her that noone has anything too controversial to say.. I think the closest was William's chums saying "doors to manual" when she entered a room...

CommanderBurnham · 10/03/2021 18:19

I don't think there's anything wrong in boring, being increasingly boring myself. But just that, she comes across as a bit boring. She well might not be but I know plenty of people who come across as boring and are well, boring.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/03/2021 18:26

Her family are, generally, hardworking and keep their counsel. That helps.

OldScrappyAndHungry · 10/03/2021 18:32

“Staggeringly thick with stratospheric illusions of superiority” is quite the most awesome description of the entire RF I’ve ever read Grin.

I know the PP was referring to the truly vile Andrew, but let’s face it, it could be applied to all of them. A truly unpleasant bunch of people with a crashing superiority complex.

I hope this whole appalling debacle starts to herald the end. No one should inherit public office no matter how inoffensive they appear to be.

MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 21:57

@RunningFromInsanity

I agree. I think she is so graceful, perfect for her role. I like what I see of her and William, and her as a mother.
I think she's looking amazing as she ages but so is Carole, she looks fantastic for her age.

There have been lots of negative stories about Kate and bullying allegations against Kate. Stories from other students about her stalking William and chasing off any other women who tried to get near, making sure she was the only woman around him. Stories about her mean girling his female friends. The fact she had few or no friends at her wedding, just Will's friends. There was a private forum for St Andrew's students which a journalist managed to get access to during the engagement and he found old posts dating back to 2001/2002 complaining and making allegations against Kate, including claiming Kate copied other students' work in exams. Maybe just jealousy but she was evidently not well-liked by other women during her time at university.

Her boss when she worked briefly on a yacht sold an interview to the Daily Mail implying she used it to meet rich men and would wear inappropriate clothes and basically flash. Her old school head did an interview saying she got in trouble because she was addicted to mooning people.

After they moved to Amner a number of staff quit and the Daily Mail ran a big article claiming the "Cambridge staff exodus" was because Kate was lazy, demanding and refused to pay attention to royal protocol, and that she let Carole run the household and that Carole was domineering and ordered the staff around.

The Sun ran a headline claiming Amner staff had nicknamed her "Princess Prickly."

Carole and Pippa both were criticised for profiting from their royal connections and giving so many interviews, including reports royal courtiers were concerned, and the Daily Mail ran an expose on Party Pieces and the many complaints from employees about Carole being abusive and staff feeling "terrorised" by her. Some of the details were things like salaried staff getting texts that they'd be fined for leaving work early for a doctor appointment, Carole summoning staff by clicking her fingers at them, and refusing to allow Christmas decorations or anything fun in the office.

An anonymous source leaked a story to the tabloids claiming Pippa was dating a titled man and his mum shut it down hard and said it was all lies and was obviously implying Carole had leaked it. The guy was never seen with or linked to Pippa again.

By all accounts Carole raised both her girls to do nothing with their lives except chase wealthy husbands, while her son was ignored.

A couple of years ago Kate fired her personal assistant manager Sophie Agnew while she was on her honeymoon, who did one of those "sources close to Sophie say" interviews to the Daily Mail about how mean Kate was to fire someone who'd been so dedicated to her and worked so hard while she was on honeymoon. A few months later Kate's private secretary Catherine Quinn quit without another job lined up after just two years of working for Kate. Just this year Will and Kate's chief secretary quit after 18 months in the role. Rebecca Deacon also quit. There was some other scandal about one of Kate's chief staffers leaving to have a baby and being told while she was on maternity leave that they'd changed their minds about her being allowed to go part-time. I think they had to give her a big settlement.

Kate goes through personal staff like water.

Where on earth did you hear/read all that?

My friend’s daughter was at St A with her and did some socialising with her, William etc and had absolutely nothing bad to say about her !

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 12/03/2021 22:25

She won't have a huge romantic history what with dating William from age 19, and she seems - and I mean this nicely - a bit of a square, so not one to go out drinking til she's sick and snorting cocaine. She's very sporty so think she put a lot of her youth into keeping fit and keeping her nose clean in general. William seems utterly sensible too and they're incredibly well suited.
