The royal family

Has anyone actually had anything bad to say about Kate in all the years she has been with William? School friends, teachers, college mates all have the same opinion.

In the years before k&w got married it would have been easy to sell a story about Kate. There was never once any stories of mean girl behaviour, bitchiness & nastiness... Quite the contrary, Kate had to leave a school due to bullying & settled brilliantly in Marlborough college.
The worst said was referring to her & Pippa as the Wisteria sisters for social climbing...
Kate has always been described as determined, very hard working in school, diligent, kind & caring. Her family are fantastic, ambitious, hardworking & very supportive of all their children.
Anyone dare to differ with me? 😁

I agree.
I think she is so graceful, perfect for her role.
I like what I see of her and William, and her as a mother.

BusterGonad · 10/03/2021 12:36

This is very shallow but she becomes better looking the older she gets. I do like Kate.

Theunamedcat · 10/03/2021 12:38

She seems like a nice lady and very well prepared for her role in the Royal family

Westfacing · 10/03/2021 12:38

My only problem with the Middleton's is that none of them, apart from the parents, seem ever to have done a serious day's work!

I mean what did Kate do between graduation and marriage?

MammabearX1 · 10/03/2021 12:39

There was plenty of opportunity for people to go to the press when was younger but obviously people had nothing bad to say...
What's telling is the international press which doesn't have the limitations imposed on it like the U. K media never had any stories linked to her character... The topless photos were a low for the international press which shows that if they had ever received stories related to her behavior or character they would have gonr straight to press.

Like what they did to her uncle Gary, the stories were horrendous but the press never had anything to say re Kate herself, she has been brought up impeccably.

I think she worked for her parents' business.
CommanderBurnham · 10/03/2021 12:41

I do think as future Queen of England the press stay away from her.

Although I think she seems perfect and accepting of her role, she does seem a little boring. But who knows really?

Loopyloututu2 · 10/03/2021 12:41

She seems like a thoroughly decent person. I can’t imagine her being nasty, mean or bullying to anyone.

Maxellious · 10/03/2021 12:44

I think 'a little boring' is exactly the sort of image she wants to project!

The press were vile to her too, pre-marriage, with all that "waity-katie" crap and constant articles about her weight and the photos from the uni fashion show.

Snugglepiggy · 10/03/2021 12:48

She was William's girlfriend for years before it was definite she would be the future Queen. And of course they split up for a while.Plenty of time for people from her past to comment if they wanted to.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/03/2021 12:48

I really like Kate but if this is a 'well Kate is lovely compared to Meghan' thread its hardly a comparison. Kate has had a sheltered and relatively dull upbringing and life prior to becoming a Royal. While Meghan is an American celebrity with all the drama these circles create.

StepOutOfLine · 10/03/2021 12:49

There was loads about her in the "courtship" phase. Primarily about her parents having it all planned from day one etc.
I thought she worked on some fashion mag? Maybe I'm confusing her with someone else.

Absolutely. I think people have short memories.

Still as vile as they were to her with all the names & accusations of social climbing, claims Carole was the pushiest mom etc they couldn't attack her character which for me is very telling. I read previously at Thomas's she's a very normal mom & so low key & friendly.. The school gates from experience is the nastiest place of all especially in the posh privates..

They didn't do that to Diana, though, did they?
Rupertbeartrousers · 10/03/2021 12:55

I had a friend who was a year or two below her at school, quiet, sporty, hardworking were her words

Mamette · 10/03/2021 12:57

I thought she worked for Jigsaw at some point.

BenoneBeauty · 10/03/2021 12:59

I agree Op - I think the dirt simply isn't there on her otherwise it would have come out. They tried with her uncle (and who is responsible for their uncles behaviour?!) and slating her family but again, it's nothing they've done but perceptions. They seem like a decent hardworking family with no real skeletons in the closet at all and no nasty personality traits.

Changeychange1 · 10/03/2021 13:01

This is the point though, isn’t it.. we don’t know whether there have been stories about Kate/ William but the press haven’t progressed them, or have spun them differently. We don’t know if the press have kept away from Kate because she hasn’t directly been in conflict when them. The press determine the image and perception of a person, the rest of us are simply exposed to the narrative and image that the press choose to spin. The press control and manipulate the information we received, decide what information we should have.

Samcro · 10/03/2021 13:01

I don't dislike kate. She is a bit stepford wife. But maybe that is just what she wants people to see.
Like most of the rf she does very little.

Yes, she did. According to articles she was an accessories buyer for a while but had to leave due to being followed by the paps constantly.
Emilyontmoor · 10/03/2021 13:03

[Hmm] You seem to have forgotten “waitey Katie” headlines. And all the commentary from “sources” close to the royal family who dubbed her and Pippa “the wisteria sisters” because of their social climbing (and they did gravitate to universities where the rich but often dim are likely to be found, St Andrew’s Edinburgh, Newcastle and Exeter. Kate even changed universities after it became known William was headed to St Andrews. They then found the richest most aristocratic social groups to mix in, with Pippa it was the Duke of Northumberland’s crew. We called that exclusive Sloane lot at Uni “the jet set”, very self conscious about who they included in their social circle being from a homogenous affluent private school background, and speaking and acting in a certain way. See also the “doors to manual” comments about their mother actually having had a job.

Of course that snobbery about Kate’s background has now faded when faced with an even greater range of failures in terms of qualifying for their exclusive elite but clearly it was discussed between Kate and Megan. As Megan said it was rude but rude doesn’t come close to being as obnoxious as racist.

I couldn’t give two hoots about a rich dysfunctional family being ridden with snobbery and racism, it’s no surprise. I did have the misfortune to meet Prince Andrew in two settings, socially in his Randy Andy days and later had to work with him on a charity project. He should never have been inflicted on our project in the first place, he was not only a dangerous waste of time and space but he failed to show respect for the people who were making a difference (and were senior leaders in British businesses) The combination of being staggeringly thick and stratospheric illusions of superiority and entitlement have already proven dangerous and he should be pensioned off into obscurity if he doesn’t actually get prosecuted. I am quite sure he would be totally confident in airing his illusions of superiority about him and his family (he compared his feelings when Princess Beatrice had a cold with the parents of children with terminal illness) with comments about the colour of a baby’s skin.

However the real issue here is with the bigotry, misogyny and racism in the British press. Why do you think Kate has to run such a tight ship of wet innocuousness?
