Would it really be so impossible for Harry to get a job?

Seriously, He has had an Eton and University education, He must have an incredible contacts file Grin Could he really not have found some suitable employment to help fund his family without resorting to reality tv? I'm thinking maybe Bonhams/Southerbys as an art expert sort of gig (with training obvs) Give himself a pupose in life?, a reason to get up in morning? No more need for dads money?

A few of them do seem to have jobs, so why not him?

@GoLightlyontheEarth

So just turning up at events and shaking hands? That isn’t a job.
I want my money back from the RF then.
GrimDamnFanjo · 23/03/2021 17:31

Good luck to him.
It must be obvious he's been hired for the publicity and the news reach. A canny hire by the company.

nongnangning · 23/03/2021 17:36

I think it's a brilliant hire by this company. Had anyone on this thread ever heard of them until today? Perhaps they have global expansion plans - in which case they picked a globally visible ambassador, clearly trying to live his best life, whatever anyone thinks of this. Hope the company got an upgrade to their webserver for all the clicks on the press release

Precisely, job done.

I think they are a start-up company. Curious to who's behind them, must be someone big to pay the $$$ for him.

However it's not a bad move by the company. Hope to see him smile again.

RubyViolet · 23/03/2021 17:57

It’s a bit cultish, and very California... he’s becoming a Guru.

Skiptheheartsandflowers · 24/03/2021 09:35

His experience is in gladhanding so that's not a bad fit. Agree that he won't be doing actual coaching. He's there to give a touch of class to the operation Wink. I think it's a better move to get a 'regular' job than the intermittent creative stuff. We're still waiting for the podcast to properly start after that one 'holiday special' so I'm not sure they are great at the drive to work independently as freelancers. He seemed to get on a lot better with the structure of the army. This job could be the (re)making of him.

I also wouldn't imagine they are paying as much as people might think. Harry clearly wanted to say in the interview that his family had cut off financial support, but may not have realised that by sharing that, he was effectively saying that he wasn't in a position to be too picky having 'had' to take the
Netflix and Spotify deals. If I were an organisation thinking about the value of a celeb name on the books, I would reach out with lots of the fancy feelgood words they like, but a low-ball offer, and see what came back.

StartupRepair · 24/03/2021 09:59

I know someone who coaches for them. Not great payers.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 10:04

I can’t see that paying the bills!

CrabPuff · 24/03/2021 10:21

These people sponsor some health podcasts - that’s the only reason I’ve heard of them. Easy and affordable access to therapists is what I heard a podcaster say mid podcast.

Any job’s a job. The job title is very American so that is unintentionally amusing but he lives there now, his wife is American, his son is half American - when in Rome! Looks a bit tentative and “first day in the new job” in the headshot but they said they wanted financial independence and I would have thought she would take this sort of job over him but she’s up the duff so fair enough.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 24/03/2021 10:43

It will be interesting to see if she does actually get a proper job. I doubt it.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 10:53

I suspect Harry’s job isn’t a 9-5 one. I can’t imagine him having to make the tea and collect the mail as the ‘newbie’.

thecatsthecats · 24/03/2021 10:53

The headshot doesn't match the others, and big American corps are hot on that. So someone decided to run the announcement despite not having a headshot matching the others.

Moving straight into an invented post is a good move - no real responsibilities except to stick his head above the parapet and look good, and get good deputies to handle the details as per his previous role.

(and I'm a COO myself - the business end of a business!)

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 10:58

I love looking at headshots. There was a trend recently in one area I work in to have ‘portrait’ shots - and then when you hold then mouse over it, you see a ‘wacky’ shot (pulling a face, at home, their pet, daft hat, naked...) and also q&as with daft questions to show how whacky and human they are.

I did have this at one company (boss made me). My photo - one I am laughing my head off, and the other looks like I am about to bite someone (actually I was having a row with the photographer - who I knew well - as he was being a bit hopeless that day and had increased his bill). I still use that shot (angry badger). My q&as weren’t all that serious either.

Lockdownbear · 24/03/2021 11:04

Reports are he has been working with them for months.
I'd think they've timed the announcement while his profile is high.

I can't see MM getting a proper job while pregnant. But will be interesting if she goes back to acting or something in a year or so time. A lot could happen in the next year.

My company did that. Except my main headshot was nice and smiley and the scrollover one looked like I was saying "have that man disposed of, Bond."

I do like the profiles some companies post.

Q: Tell me about a time you went above and beyond.
A: I always go above and beyond.

A variant of the above for all staff!

Can't blame the staff answering for not being marketing copywriters, but you'd think the person doing the website would say - maybe mix up the answers, guys? Give a real, humanised example?

They better make sure that they are very clear on the dress code for the Christmas fancy dress party 🤔

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 14:58

And remind him not to tell any of grandpas jokes...

Lockdownbear · 24/03/2021 15:07

Grandpas jokes Blush

Meghan is working him hard. He's got a second job - correcting digital miss information or something to.

Joking aside I do hope this is what he wants.

Furries · 24/03/2021 17:45

I see another role has been announced with the Aspen Institute - to campaign against misinformation (laughable considering the recent interview!)

CrabPuff · 24/03/2021 19:14

Here is what the royals back home are doing. You can see why he didn’t necessarily give Meghan the full flavour of the job! I bloody love Princess Anne.

Would it really be so impossible for Harry to get a job?
the80sweregreat · 24/03/2021 19:45

Meghan would have told the waste recycling employees that she wasn't ' ok ' and what on earth was she doing there ? 😂
Some of the Royal duties are not all glamorous.
I just think it wasn't the job for Meghan a bit like the time I did a job I wasn't cut out for and hated, till I left ( not to live in a mansion in LA though! ) I can sympathize with her ( a bit !)
Bless em.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 25/03/2021 07:36

Harry is on a roll now with collecting jobs. He must have said 'Gizza job. I can do that!' more often than Yosser from Boys from the Blackstuff.

But if Harry wants to add another, he could always work (remotely) for the anti-monarchy campaign group Republic - who, coincidentally, called for the operation of Sussex Royal to be looked into, so he will know of them. I think he would find his objectives align with theirs these days.
