In regards to their experiences with the press yes I have sympathy
But it was full of insinuations and misrepresentations being presented as fact i.e. the issue around the title that they said they never wanted for their child anyway being with held because of his race which it wasn’t.
Suggesting there were concerns around his skin colour which seems to have caused the most amount of fuss wasn’t then necessarily represented in the same way by Harry who is the person who supposedly had this conversation. Context is everything in regards to what happened there and even they couldn’t present a consistent story
This whole thing about them getting married three days before was just nonsense it wasn’t true so if that wasn’t true what else wasn’t
And the fact that he was complaining he’s had to sell his soul to make money because his finances were cut off of course they were he’d quit his job he’s got his own money which he seems reluctant to use

I was relatively indifferent about it up until now if they didnt want to live that life if they wanted to be independent if they wanted to step away in the way that they said they wanted that was fine but actually what they seem to want to do is commoditise their name. He is actually a disgrace to his family having done that interview I’ll be surprised if any of them ever spoke to him again.

Their truth isn’t the truth so it shouldn’t be presented as such

ineedaholidaynow · 09/03/2021 08:54

@MorePotatoSalad are you offering to pay for the security? Royal Security is provided by the Met, are you going to pay for them to be sent over to US for months at a time?

callmeadoctor · 09/03/2021 08:58

Interesting point in the mail:

"When is somebody going to air all Meghan's secrets and why have so many been hushed up? Her first marriage to Joseph Goldman-Guliano the lawyer for example that ended in an annulment after his mother paid her off with a substantial sum due to realising she was totally unsuitable for her son. Her mother abandoning her for a life of crime and serving six years for money fraud and d rugs. Her uncle the diplomat who pulled a lot of strings to wangle her an internship that she would never have managed on her own merit. And she was in a civil relationship with a chef when she met Harry, who she just walked out on. And why does she snub all family members either her own or Harry's but prefers celebrities. The wedding a prime example. Also, Doria's relative that mysteriously died so she inherited a house, and a hazing incident at Northwestern University that included supergluing students eyes shut and being suspended...interesting rumours."

WhiskyIrnBru · 09/03/2021 08:58

Out of interest, to the people who don't believe, what's the purpose of making the whole thing up?

Also, do you not believe because the "royal family would never do that..." Or for some other reason?

I mean, it's not like the RF haven't had form for being unsupportive to married in wives...much less an American, mixed race one..

carcarbinks · 09/03/2021 08:59

No I don't. It has already been revealed that the story about getting married before their show wedding was not true. Also the story about Archie not been allowed to be prince because of race is not true. As for her mental health problems - why didn't she go to a doctor like other people have to do? She doesn't explain clearly what happened. Because of these untruths I find it difficult to believe anything they say.

However, I think the monarchy should be abolished and the royals, especially the younger ones, should be free to lead a normal life.

Same4Walls · 09/03/2021 08:59

I genuinely dont understand how anyone can say they completely believe them when as others have said some parts have already been shown to be untrue. You cannot expect people to believe you on the big issues e.g the racism allogations whilst simultaneously telling lies. If you want people to believe you, you need to consistently honest.

oldwhyno · 09/03/2021 08:59

It's never going to be as clear as TRUE or FALSE. What they presented was her heavily one-sided version of events. The body language was fascinating. Poor old Harry squirming away in the chicken coop trying desperately to not be a part of the whole thing. He's been so used.

I agree.

How do you know it's not true?
MorePotatoSalad · 09/03/2021 09:03

@ineedaholidaynow Yes I would happily pay for some of it in proportion and H and M pay for some of it and become flexible working royals.

The institution are unwilling to be flexible and I read this as patriarchal.

Radio4Rocks · 09/03/2021 09:05

There were two obvious lies - how can anyone believe anything else?

LadyEloise · 09/03/2021 09:07

What were they Radio4Rocks ?

Allington · 09/03/2021 09:08

nitsandwormsdodger · 09/03/2021 09:08

Don't think for one second they are lying just telling their version of the truth
I've discussed the potential colours of my friends babies as they eventually came out two extremely different colours I hope c**les was just chatting and it's been miss interpreted

Archie not being a prince should not have been aired as it was miss information - also twisted as racist which diluted the good points they actually made

Lampzade · 09/03/2021 09:09

This is what I think about the Archie ‘race’ situation and what may have happened

I think that someone asked Harry about the baby would look in terms of race ( if they were that curious they should have googled it).

Anyway, Harry was upset by this and told his wife( perhaps unwisely)
Meghan who was already feeling upset and alienated took this to be an attack on her race.

It’s is difficult to determine whether the individual concerned was simply making an ‘innocent’ comment or whether they were showing ‘ concern’ about how dark the baby would be.
The individual concerned is obviously a close family member , therefore Harry is probably in a better position to judge whether the comment is racist or not.

Kljnmw3459 · 09/03/2021 09:10

I'm more likely to believe their version of events. The RF may come out with their own version but I highly doubt they will. They'll send William and Kate out to do damage control. Certain sections of the media will continue to print lies about harry and Meghan and to praise william and Kate.

Happinessisawarmcervix · 09/03/2021 09:10

@TrustTheGeneGenie “How do you know it's not true?”

Because English law simply does not permit a marriage where the only people present are the couple and the celebrant. There have to be two witnesses. Even if the celebrant is the Archbishop of Canterbury.

carcarbinks · 09/03/2021 09:10

@TrustTheGeneGenie I thought it had already been said that the wedding story was false. Also the thing about not being a prince is royal protocol apparently - nothing to do with race. Happy for you to prove me wrong though!

kingat · 09/03/2021 09:10

It was a lot of waffle to me.

Two things annoyed me.
How at the start they "clarify" this was not preprepared and no questions are off limits and then Oprah sits there for 2hrs not asking anything.

They are so angry at "them" for the lack of titles and protection, but the queen is absolutely amazing an none of it is to do with her. Well, isnt the queen the decision maker? So who are they angry at? Who is "they"? Who is supposed to pay for this security?

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 09/03/2021 09:11

Harry was brought up in his family and knows them. He must know they are stuck in 1950? He has a pretty bad past on racism himself.

11 years ago, as a 23 year old man he called a colleague (army) a 'paki'. As a teen he wore a nazi uniform to a party.

Fair play to him for waking up to his errors and changing his perspective. But that should have made him better equipped to warn Meghan, and manage his family.

It's hard to believe he was so naive. I know the royals aren't historically the brightest sparks but to not manage the situation very carefully. I think some of this is on him.

onionsndsage · 09/03/2021 09:11

Why marry into a family or have anything to do with family members who question the colour of your future children?! She knew what she was walking into certainly after that comment.

BillieSpain · 09/03/2021 09:11

They both had completely different time lines to the racist story.

Harry said 'right at the beginning' (before M was pregnant) she twitched then , because...
Megan had already said 'while I was pregnant'

Or so I understood...?

wewillmeetagain · 09/03/2021 09:13

Meghan has been studying at the school of Diana, all implications with not much substantial evidence therefore cannot be accused of outright lies!

TorringtonDean · 09/03/2021 09:13

Her “fortune” from working as an actress is small in comparison to Harry’s inherited wealth and of course tiny in comparison to the amount they can make from commoditising and marketing their “story”.

tisonlymeagain · 09/03/2021 09:13

Elements of truth, overexaggerated and blown out of all proportion. They've been treated shittily but I'm sure they are no angels and have also done their fair share of stirring the pot.
