She sounds exactly like Dianna here.

Seasthedaytoday · 08/03/2021 21:51

Will watch tomorrow. I'm interested to hear about her dad and the problems there or is it just about the Royal family?

PicsInRed · 08/03/2021 21:51

@HeathIns

Eugene?
Eugenie. Yes, princess at birth.

George, Charlotte and Louis were made princes and princess by letters patent to get around the "grandchild of monarch" rule. Otherwise they'd have to wait until Charles acceded the throne.

For some reason, Archie was not going to be made a prince at birth in the same way - he would have to wait until Charles acceded and it was automatic by right of law.

The first Black prince of the Blood of the UK.

That's just deliberately shit isn't it.

WaggishDancer · 08/03/2021 21:52

I just think that no matter how well she comes across to some people that there will be no going back from this and many people live to regret these sorts of interviews. It just seems a very undignified way of saying what you want where there are much better platforms out there to use your voice and make a difference.

853ax · 08/03/2021 21:52

Life as a royal does not work if you know real life too. Guess all others have lived in royal circles always so don't look at other life or try to balance both. Obviously for her could not do that made life in palace impossible to survive sounds horrible

Fgs1 · 08/03/2021 21:52

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Why on Earth would anyone go to HR instead of calling their doctor?
That's the whole point, she couldn't do anything without the approval of the institution.
ivykaty44 · 08/03/2021 21:52

This is the same that happened to Fergie, Diana was the favourite and Fergie was the one getting it all wrong all the time in the press. The press are relentless and its not the first time its happened.

Not sure why the protocol over being a prince reads differently from what MM states in this interview

HeathIns · 08/03/2021 21:52

I just think there is no coming back from this.
She is airing ALL the dirty linen in public.
They could have moved away quietly.

FuckingHateRats · 08/03/2021 21:52

I think she comes across quite well.

I believe her explanation that she grew up in LA, was famous in her own right, and she didn't understand the reality of the difference between fame and royal family. That rings true, I think.

I think they've treated her pretty horrifically. And I think the fact they've covered up Andrew and thrown her to the lions is indicative of the ruthless quality of 'the firm'.

HeathIns · 08/03/2021 21:52

Oprah is asking about the backlash.

I watched it last night in Canada awww I wish I could type that as a opener
That’s the best opening line on Mumsnet. BOOM!🇨🇦

GreenSlide · 08/03/2021 21:53

'Can't work out if she's personality disorded or just doing the actressy thing.'

I think she's being an actress, she's definitely trying to do her own version of Diana's story. I reckon they'll think it'll be good for the brand for her to be the people's princess. A lot of the interview focused on how hard up they are Hmm because they have to pay for their own lives and security now.

Especially for an organise they don't work for

Yes, because she didn't have an union.

WHAT? (as Oprah would say)

chomalungma · 08/03/2021 21:53

Sounds like hell.

blueshoes · 08/03/2021 21:54

Let us not forget MM is an actress...

Sad to say, not a very good one. She just seemed so fake and contrived. I had to turn it off after 3 mins.

HeathIns · 08/03/2021 21:54

They were dreadful to Sarah Ferguson (she isn’t that great either tbh)

@Lastfreakinglegs

The tabloid press is disgusting.
Just seeing those press headline sput up on screen, its absolutely disgusting. Noone deserves that, absolutely noone.

Esp the one referencing chimp, and people still say media etc aren't racist.

snowballer · 08/03/2021 21:54

Yes to this. Ok so she's probably had a shit time but they've moved away, they've got the life they want. Why do they need to do this? If they just shut up people would forget about them...oh. Well maybe I've just answered my own question there...🙄
ApolloandDaphne · 08/03/2021 21:54

I think she is coming over very well. I also think that Harry has unwittingly married a woman just like his mum. It is quite uncanny.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 08/03/2021 21:54

The camera panning in and out is so distracting. As is Oprah. Whaaatt?

PicsInRed · 08/03/2021 21:55

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

you can't just hop in an Uber

Yes you can, the way you hop on a private jet.

tip off made to press

vicious press proceed to surround and loudly hound hospital

"AVOCADO MURDERESS COMMITTED TO ASYLUM"

That's why she couldn't just hop in an uber to the hospital.

StellaDendrite · 08/03/2021 21:55

As an aside...
She is stunning looking. I know she has had a nose job but she has a lovely natural look.

Cam77 · 08/03/2021 21:55

The Royals are like birds trapped in a cage just for the entertainment of the masses.
A gilded cage.
Just like The Truman Show

These truth is that which is perhaps the main reason I so oppose hereditary monarchy. What child wants to be born into a predestined life? Denied agency and privacy? Ok, they could, in theory, abdicate.- although there is huge pressure not to do so. But even then they’d be hounded the rest of their life by the paparazzi and by a weird curiosity. It’s inhuman. A soldier who volunteers for war is choosing duty as an adult. Why are you inflicting “duty” (if that what it is) onto children?

HeathIns · 08/03/2021 21:55

It’s acting folks.

I agree.
