My Twitter feed had the offer to sign up to monthly Royal newsletter from CNN yesterday.
Honestly, not even CNN international.
I truly agree that Americans shouldn't care about the Royals.
I'm sure that many don't at all. But a ridiculous number do for goodness knows what reason.
It is something that has surprised me about living in the USA ( I partly blame the crown)

stampsurprise · 09/03/2021 06:01

@MrsDThomas

Yes, bullshit to calling the Archbishop up as if she’s calling her friend.

And not googling Harry? Liar. If I was after him and he became my boyfriend, of course I’d google him!

Yep. If only she had she’d have seen pics of him dressed in Nazi uniform!
Seasthedaytoday · 09/03/2021 06:33

@SocialistSloth

The thing about the baby's skin might have been an innocent comment.

Er, in what way would a comment about the colour of a yet to be born baby's skin colour be innocent in this situation, ffs.

I think everyone has discussions when pregnant wondering what a baby will look like. I don't think its racist for someone to discuss whether a baby may be dark like their mum or maybe a red head like their dad? I know I had those conversations about my children.

I saw a very interesting programme at 9pm on BBC4 about Welsh Art. Worth finding on IPlayer.

Thanks!

@Seasthedaytoday I think both Harry and Meghan would know the 'context' it was said in, hence them saying it was based on racism.

And does Harry really think if you leave a job you still get paid? They kept referring to the RF as 'the firm'. Well he decided to leave the firm because they wanted to be financially independent. Why is he complaining that his father stopped giving him money. He's in his 30s. He needs to get a job and support his family.

1AngelicFruitCake · 09/03/2021 07:02

Diana has become almost saint like to a lot of people. Many of us on here were quite young when she died and can’t remember the mistakes she made just the ideal version of her that gets trotted out.
I would have had far more respect for both of them if they ‘owned their truth’ and talked about their mistakes. But they didn’t. All about them and the terrible things this awful family have done to them.

If the Royal Family have caused you so much pain then draw a line in the sand, move on and don’t trade off the royal connection anymore.

Claudia84 · 09/03/2021 07:15

@itsgettingwierd

Meghan actually explained it was the convention and his future right.

I'm sure people are only listening to what they want to hear.

I agree entirely.

@Seasthedaytoday“ I think everyone has discussions when pregnant wondering what a baby will look like. I don't think its racist for someone to discuss whether a baby may be dark like their mum or maybe a red head like their dad? I know I had those conversations about my children.”

Yes they do, but do they also talk about how that might ‘look’ for the family business?
If it was totally innocuous I doubt Harrybwould have bought it up but he said it made him uncomfortable and so it clearly wasn’t “oh I wonder if he’ll have your eyes”!

Benjispruce2 · 09/03/2021 07:24

@Pimlicojo they said they didn’t want to leave the job, just not be senior.

Benjispruce2 · 09/03/2021 07:27

I believe them. This all has echoes of Diana and the ‘grey men in suits’ that run the royals. However I’m surprised they’ve done this at this time ( pregnancy and Philip’s poor health) and in this very candid way.
Having said that, I’m no royalist. Time to abolish the lot.

The Daily Star missed it too apparently! Their TV was on the blink.

Disclaimer: I do not read the Daily Star. I do read BBC news ‘Papers’ though.

Talking of the BBC. They stepped away from the ‘bidding war’ to show this interview very quickly.

Why was Meghan/Harry incapable of getting mental health support in place independent of the palace? They are both adults.

I found this puzzling, and troubling that they were still living with the same issues from the family, and the press, (and a new baby)for a year , after she had been afraid to be alone with suicidal thoughts, without seemingly having any psychological help, or support for MH.
My thought that was if they had arranged it themselves, did they have their own finances, or would all their expenses have to go through the palace?
I do remember Diana seeing various (sometimes unconvential) therapists but it might have been after she divorced.

Bluntness100 · 09/03/2021 07:48

The whole thing is so contradictory. They left saying they didn’t wish media attention, they had a right to a private life, and wished to work to be financially independent.

Then they kicked off because Charles stopped funding their security, and did this interview, inviting more press intrusion than can ever be imagined, and even finished it off with a video of their own kid on the beach.

Meghan was the one who did most of the damage last night. Harry came across as much more disquieted and hurt, Meghan was sticking the boot in. And hard.

Yes, I don’t understand this. Because Harry was already seeing a therapist about his mother’s death and had been for some time. It was openly discussed by him.

In addition they had their own staff, their own office, their own home, I don’t understand why they went to thr head of hr, who of course should not be organising this for her, she’s not an employee. I just don’t get why one of them just didn’t call Harry’s therapist, and either see him or get him to recommend someone.

It’s not like they don’t get therapy, they do. So it’s hard to comprehend what occured here. They had access to a therapist, Harry’s, and they are multi millionaires, with their own staff and home.

It is hardly just a job, he was born into the role/family they should definitely be protected by the Royal family it wasn't a choice the world knows him and some are crazy and dangerous.
He wasn't a Royal aide.
The son of the future King I hope they're safe.

teentipans · 09/03/2021 07:54

And does Harry really think if you leave a job you still get paid?

Is it not the other way round as they said they were told there would not be security funding for Archie even if they were working royals

teentipans · 09/03/2021 07:54

And so in order to fund that they decided to leave.

teentipans · 09/03/2021 07:55

Breaking news: Piers Morgan has full on hissy fit on GMB.

He’s absolutely toxic. What is wrong with the man?

Was h and m expected to just continue their years of serving the public while they dragged her down piece by piece in the British press, where they continued to lie and smear her name.

Basically yes, apparently they should want to stay & work & be happy having crap & lies printed about them.
