I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

I think it would be better if nothing was said by the RF. This is a horrible mess and nobody looks good.

Meltinthemiddle · 08/03/2021 21:17

Not sure I can even sit and watch an hour of this and playing the victim.

Porcupineintherough · 08/03/2021 21:19

@beccahamlet dont be disingenuous. Unless you live in a vacuum you must be aware that "value or the lack of it" is placed on skin colour in this country. And what does "we have had these conversations with no white privilege " even mean?

Stratfordplace · 08/03/2021 21:19

Pure bilge

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 08/03/2021 21:32

Thought her family might come out and say something , this has just opened a can of worms
I took little notice if the stories in the paper about them really other than the stepping away from royal duties and even I would know you would loose money and security that comes with that .
I take equally not much notice of what they say as its clearly one side and the made suggestions of what happened without actually saying , like not saying who made the remark and if it was made so early on , why did he not address it at the time.
The wedding thing has tripped them up why not just say we had a little private practice first that we hold more sentiment to etc , rather than imply you were actually married ?
No one comes out good in this really and I can see how its going to help him with healing his rift with his family that he claims he wants

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/03/2021 21:37

The wedding story and the title allegations just make everything else more questionable imo. Never a good idea to tell blatant fibs while making serious accusations

Katie2017 · 08/03/2021 21:37

*I'm not in one camp or the other but I find the idea he shouldn't have told her preposterous.

As Archie's mother she's got every right to have input into the type and extent of a relationship her child (and herself) have with a family member whose made racist comments.

If he had kept it secret and she'd later found out I think should would have had every right to be furious.

Brushing racism under the carpet and pretending it doesn't exist is one of the reasons it perpetuates, another is enabling the racist to escape consequences by circling the wagons around their repugnant views.*

It's not brushing racism under the carpet-these comments were supposedly said to Harry and he could absolutely call the person out on it "don't ever express those racist views to me again I find them highly offensive and will have nothing to do with you if you ever make these comments again". Did he speak to this person about their comments? From what he implies he didn't call them out on their behaviour at all when it happened.

SparklingXmas · 08/03/2021 21:38

I believe them - it’s hard watching and I’m a royalist

Wakeupin2022 · 08/03/2021 21:39

Well she just said she had been a princess.

ohfourfoxache · 08/03/2021 21:40

I feel so sorry for them. Also a royalist. No one should have to go through that

secular39 · 08/03/2021 21:43

Meghan is very very pretty.

Onlinedilema · 08/03/2021 21:45

It all sounds so cloak and daggers. All 'they said', 'they implied' who is 'they'?
I have always felt Meghan would be good for the UK she is/was a good role model but it's all very veiled.

Onlinedilema · 08/03/2021 21:47

Also I cannot imagine how awful it must be to be hounded by the press in this way.

Same4Walls · 08/03/2021 21:47

@SparklingXmas

I believe them - it’s hard watching and I’m a royalist
I asked another poster this but I'm genuinely curious how can you say you believe them when already much of what they have said has been clearly shown to be untrue or a blatant lie?

As another poster said. If any of the serious stuff is even remotely true it's accuracy is lost amongst all the lies.

mainsfed · 08/03/2021 21:49

It sounds like Meghan was upset about the lack of security for Archie when she was still within the RF.

Which seems fair enough, M&H were in the public eye m, even more so than Will and Kate, she would rightly have been upset.

Coupled with the comments to Harry about the potential darkness of Archie’s skin, it’s understandable why Meghan thinks Archie was seen as lesser. Archie is not comparable to Bea and Eugenie, he is the future King’s grandson.

secular39 · 08/03/2021 21:50

Being in the RF sounds like being in prison.

DogsSausages · 08/03/2021 21:51

I cannot bear to watch any more. Cant take an Uber to see a doctor, what a crock.

secular39 · 08/03/2021 21:52

@DogsSausages

I cannot bear to watch any more. Cant take an Uber to see a doctor, what a crock.
I believe her. She cannot just do that. The risk of Paparazzi taking pictures of her.... going to the hospital... how would that look on the RF?
donewithitalltodayandxmas · 08/03/2021 21:54

@secular39 well of course they can't just take an uber , they are surrounded by security etc and its not a nornal life

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 08/03/2021 21:55

@mainsfed but he would never get title of prince at birth and its beeb that way for years and years.

BRB2021 · 08/03/2021 21:56

Just cant understand why anyone would wonder how "dark" a child from a light skinned bi racial mum and a very white, ginger dad is going to be??

You dont have to be Sherlock to know the answer Hmm. Though they arent blessed with brains are they...

SparklingXmas · 08/03/2021 21:58

I believe her because certain cultures in this country also talk about the colour of babies/you can’t go to the drs on your own etc. It’s really hard and you have to escape

GemmeFatale · 08/03/2021 21:59

And Bea and Eugenie are the Queen’s grandchildren
Onlinedilema · 08/03/2021 22:01

I don't see how they expect the British tax payer to fund their living in Canada I really don't.

BeaLola · 08/03/2021 22:01

I wonder if the first Prince Charles knew that the new baby would be a girl was from this interview.

I'm disappointed in Oprah - thought she was better than these daft questions - shame Megs isn't being grilled by Andrew Marr or Similar

"So have your husband and son met your Father now that you live in the US?"

I laughed the most at "living authentically"
