News on Meghan and Harry

Since they are in the news more or less daily why not a thread on this. Latest I've read over the last few days is that Meghan is going to produce a film from a book. And later this month she is teaming up with Michelle Obama for project on gender equality. Both sound interesting projects.

Roussette · 12/07/2020 23:15

This article is interesting on the place.

I think it was a 'vision' for Charles...

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 12/07/2020 23:17

Blossom yes, he is

Andylion · 12/07/2020 23:19

Is Ben Jessica's husband?

Yes.

CallmeAngelina · 12/07/2020 23:21

If he was unhappy "before," he made a very good job of slapping a smile on his face and interacting very intuitively with the general public. He always looked like he was having a great time laughing with Kate and his cousin Zara.
Then, when Meghan came along, when he ought to then have been happy behind the scenes, there was a complete switch around, and he had a face like a slapped arse in public, particularly as time went on, after the wedding.

CallmeAngelina · 12/07/2020 23:23

I don't think the alleged "split" between Meghan and Jessica is as it's been reported.

callmeadoctor · 12/07/2020 23:23

Cant decide whether I love it or hate it.........................

callmeadoctor · 12/07/2020 23:24

definitely want to visit it though!

KatherineParr4 · 13/07/2020 00:02

I suspect M and J are still friends, just keeping their distance until things blow over.
Harry genuinely looked happy before Meghan came along. That’s not to say he didn’t have his demons, because clearly he did. However he was close to his cousins and his brother, and got on very well with Kate. He adores his grandparents and his father. None of that was put on for the cameras. How he can barely muster a smile. He looks angry and miserable or cowed in public. There is a big change in his demeanour. He probably is relieved to be away from performing public duties. I don’t think that was his bag at all. I’m sure he thinks that now he has a chance to be Mr Normal Guy. However life in LA is going to be very far from normal. I think he may find that his new life is shallow and he may start to feel very lonely and out of place. Particularly once Meghan gets involved in projects and spends a lot of time with her celebrity friends. He’ll be back at the ranch, or desperately trying to fit in. Meanwhile Archie will not know his cousins, grandfather or Uncle, apart from brief visits to the UK for essential matters. Like funerals...

HeddaGarbled · 13/07/2020 00:07

He did performance clowning, like a lot of young men do. That doesn’t mean he was necessarily completely happy.

KatherineParr4 · 13/07/2020 00:08

No I didn’t say he was. He wouldn’t have been in therapy if he was. But he looks a lot more unhappy now.

HeddaGarbled · 13/07/2020 00:13

Or he’s grown up and realised he doesn’t have to play the clown anymore.

Tezza1 · 13/07/2020 01:27

@Puzzledandpissedoff "the TV series The Prisoner"

Wasn't that Port Merion (however it's spelt)? Wasn't it built with the intention of being a bit whimsical and, I suppose, unusual or different? And there, I'm sorry, I sound like Kath from "Kath & Kim."

I don't live in the UK, and I've always been a bit sad that I didn't discover its existence until after my travelling days were done. It looks fascinating.

And that's got nothing to do with anything. I do apologise.

Kokeshi123 · 13/07/2020 03:56

I think Harry has always had issues with depression and lack of confidence.

I totally agree with whoever it was on the other threads who said that he went to the wrong school. I can't imagine how soul-crushing it must have been to have gone to a school like Eton (which even back then was full of very very bright kids) as a nice-but-not-terribly-academic boy---always feeling like the slowest one, having to be spoon-fed through his work by tutors.

He would have been so much happier at a nice outdoorsy private boys' school where there was a mix of different abilities and where the emphasis was on sports and activities. There are definitely schools like that. I wonder where the Beckhams' kids went to school?

OneMile · 13/07/2020 07:01

It may sound far fetched but I wonder whether there are other 'letters' or written communications or recordings of some kind that she is trying to suppress the publication of.

By bringing this case against the DM, it is a warning as to what will happen to anyone else who decides to publish her private written communications/recordings without permission.

Until this case is resolved, it is very unlikely that anyone else will take the risk of publishing extracts of her letters, emails etc.. Even if she loses, there is every likelihood the Judge in his ruling will confirm that she does have copyright to the letter but that she lost the right to privacy in this case as she herself made certain parts of the letter public. This would not apply to other written communications etc. that she has not made public in any way.

It really makes no sense otherwise. The court case was initiated at a time when most people had largely forgotten about that letter. It seems very clear she intended that letter to become public.

I think this is why she is pursuing this case come hell or high water.

Dumfries House and the new housing at Dumfries is not owned by and has nothing to do with the Duchy of Cornwall. Exactly
dumfries-house.org.uk/ It's well worth a visit

WinnieTheW0rm · 13/07/2020 07:48

In which case, wouldn't she have gone for a more incisive copyright case without all the extra stuff (some of which now struck out)?

There was a good explanation of what was said in court during that hearing on another thread at the time. Which made it clear that the barrister was speaking code for 'I'm doing what my client wants, which is not what I advised, but I am going to do my very best with it'

That does suggest something at work other than protecting privacy via enforcing copyright

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 13/07/2020 07:50

Ben Mulroney's tweet is succinct in the extreme, but interesting as to what it reveals. I don't think he would have done it if everything was rosy behind the scenes, why jeopardise the friendship any further?

I suspect in the light of JM's spat with SE they are trying to rescue their careers and are distancing themselves from as much controversy as possible. Also they are trying to retain some semblance of professional dignity. It doesn't help for JM to be portrayed as a needy rejected friend.

FannyCann · 13/07/2020 08:00

Ouch. Comments below the tweet are brutal. No way that friendship is coming back from this.

Which is tricky, assuming JM is one of the five.

calmcoolandcollected · 13/07/2020 08:21

Ben Mulroney's career was never in jeopardy. He left etalk, which is a daily late afternoon entertainment program, but is still the host of a daily morning program in Canada.

OVienna · 13/07/2020 08:59

I read that Tweet as the whole article was wrong, not just the headline.

WinnieTheW0rm · 13/07/2020 09:12

The tweet is vague, and probably deliberately so.

It'll fit various lines of speculation about what's up (if anything)

OneMile · 13/07/2020 09:21

I am not surprised Ben Mulroney responded with the tweet. There is a big difference between saying they have fallen out (which may or may not be true) than saying she is going to write a tell all book. This rumour is very damaging to JM's reputation. I really can't see how she could ever write a tell all book - it would make her look desperate, malicious and vengeful. She is already struggling with those accusations after her incident with Sasha Exeter. She would get slammed for it and no one would trust her again.

OneMile · 13/07/2020 09:22

Interesting though that this is the only article he has publicly declared as false- none of the ones saying MM has dropped JM.

My0My · 13/07/2020 09:31

Dumfries House is owned byThe Princes Foundation. It’s a charity. But it’s obviously connected to Prince Charles.
