Since they are in the news more or less daily why not a thread on this. Latest I've read over the last few days is that Meghan is going to produce a film from a book. And later this month she is teaming up with Michelle Obama for project on gender equality. Both sound interesting projects.

Yes I know it's a leap of the imagination, Grin and that the royal babies would be nowhere near.

But all the same I got the feeling her trying to talk to Harry was important, (ie not chit chat), hence how upset she was when told (hopefully nicely) to pipe down and face front.

When I have stood in the wrong place/spoken when I should have been quiet (and i have done so frequently) and been corrected, my reaction is usually a whoops, sorry, a minor flare of embarrassment then get on with it. I have never been that upset and I am someone who overthinks everything, as you can tell from my comments today.

FannyCann · 12/07/2020 13:01

I'm happy to speculate that that is the only time she has taken an order from Harry.

Not that I think husbands should order their wives around obviously, but there are times when it is appropriate to comply.

My mother driving on the wrong side of the road in France comes to mind...
Father "you're on the wrong side of the fucking road"
Mother " don't say that disgusting word in front of the children" driving serenely on ....

ajandjjmum · 12/07/2020 13:03

Maybe the photo was a shot of the 'minor flare of embarrassment' moment, which quickly moved on? It doesn't seem to have knocked her confidence, in all fairness!

SuckingDieselFella · 12/07/2020 13:06

@WindsorBlues

Also add to the ridiculous rules being imposed that you are allowed to speculate about why MM is upset and who could have upset her but your not allowed to speculate on her (widely reported) bad behavior or attitude towards others.

if she is upset on the balcony it appears to be from from what PH said so as a PP said more a DH problem....

Why would she be upset at being told to turn round? Anyone who wants to fit in and not embarrass their royal spouse wouldn't be upset.

In the photo above she looks angry.

Why do you think that is?

WindsorBlues · 12/07/2020 13:11

I don't think she looks upset a PP implied it. I think she looks annoyed because Harry told her to face front

HarryDaylight · 12/07/2020 13:12

I didn't see any her as being close to tears. She turned round quickly because God Save the Queen was starting up, and looked respectfully solemn in what was a formal event.

SuckingDieselFella · 12/07/2020 13:12

Exactly!

SuckingDieselFella · 12/07/2020 13:12

That was to @WindsorBlues

YgritteSnow · 12/07/2020 13:12

I thought she looked furious on the balcony not near to tears. And I've heard this sentimental surmising that Archie was crying and she wanted to get to him before, as if she'd hear him over the crowds! It looked to me like she was turning round to have a little chit chat with Harry and he shut her down as he knew the NA was starting and he didn't want her to be criticised and dragged over the press for "disrespect". That said I too would have been stung if my OH had been that abrupt towards me and I don't actually blame her for being pissed off.

Roussette · 12/07/2020 13:18

You are frequently busy telling people what they can and cannot do, what the can and cannot think, what is (in your opinion) ridiculous is etc. I think it’s very strange you don’t realise or remember this - most people say what they think instead of being so insistent they are right and others wrong

And you don't do that?! Rightio!

YouSayWhat · 12/07/2020 13:19

ygrette has it. She wanted to join in the chitchat, the national anthem struck up, H knew instantly to pull himself together but Meghan didn’t. In haste, H was abrupt and direct, M hadn’t seen him like this before in public, I think she turned round and looked rebuked, slightly stunned and upset. Full marks to her for gritting her teeth together and not letting the tears fall.

Also, the last couple of pages saw a bit of poster-bashing. Please can we respect each other’s different views rather than trying to convert the opposition? It won’t work and then the thread would be pulled and that would be a shame as there are some very interesting comments on here and it would be useful to have something to reference our thoughts for when the court case actually starts.

Ihavenoidewhatsgoingon · 12/07/2020 13:22

She is American and know how much respect people give over in the US when the star spangled banner is playing, yet when she is on the balcony of BP, in front of huge crowds, standing with the queen, when every is singing god save the queen - she thinks it’s ok to turn around and chat repeatedly?

Im sorry but anyone would have been able to work out they should be looking forward the same as everyone else at that point.

YouSayWhat · 12/07/2020 13:23

Please don’t gf each other. samcro and Rousette - I am using you as examples as you have posted recently - please will everyone not have a go at these two posters. Let’s be respectful and if they do say something which we don’t agree with, please let us say something like I take your point, I don’t agree with it but your opinion is valid, as is my own.

Rousette - are you OK with this?

Roussette · 12/07/2020 13:25

More than happy of course YouSayWhat and thanks.

YouSayWhat · 12/07/2020 13:30

Excellent.

And to make my position clear, Rousette and Samcro, I don’t always agree with you but I respect your opinion and your views are as valid as my own WinkSmile

Viviennemary · 12/07/2020 13:32

We don't know what was going on when they were on the balcony. But if she was talking or turning round during the national anthem that is really rude and disrespectful. Especially considering the way Americans are taught to respect their flag and national anthem. A poor show.

Meghan has form fir trying to look busy & engrossed in chat when the cameras are on her & no-ones talking to her. I’ve seen other films (including one at the US Open with Serena William’s mum) where she’s basically talking to herself and pretending to have a conversation

SuckingDieselFella · 12/07/2020 13:39

@Cartesiandebt

Same when she was at Wimbledon with Kate and Kate's sister.

I think she has sussed that it makes her look better and it's less difficult than acting a straight face. She had her photo op planned for the balcony and Harry ruined it.

Wouldn't that look odd to the people sitting next to her?

Or do you mean like when supporting artists are in the back of a shot so they speak but make no noise?

Roussette · 12/07/2020 13:44

It wasn't during though was it? It was just before. She then turned round and put on a solemn face for the anthem. I've seen the footage she was not chatting during the national anthem. Even Camilla was turning round and chatting to Charles just before the band struck the first note. No different to Meghan

BalloonSlayer · 12/07/2020 13:49

People keep saying "she looks angry in the photo."

It's not the photo someone posted we are talking about, it's a video clip.

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 12/07/2020 13:53

I think this thread was a lot more interesting when people were discussing points of law, not speculating about whether MM was near to tears on the balcony.

She looks angry in that too.

Just for the record, I neither know nor especially care where Archie was during the "balcony thing", but two thought occur:

  1. In a palace of 500 plus rooms I imagine they have somewhere suitable to stick howling children with their nannies
  2. Since nannies are staff, and thus probably a different species to the RF, I wouldn't expect them to want them hanging around any more than necessary
Puzzledandpissedoff · 12/07/2020 14:01

Thoughts, damn it ... why can't we have an editing feature on here??
