Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

GIVEN police protection Grin

DateLoaf · 03/05/2020 12:40

I guess they are riffing on Mandela’s biog ‘the Long Walk to Freedom’ Hmm
It’s staggering

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/05/2020 12:42

the publisher left his/her job after it was printed. thats interesting

Probably couldn't cope with the idea of meeting Omid Scobie, or having to read his prose, ever again

Personally I'd settle for knowing who the hell he IS. It's almost unprecedented not to be able to find anything online, but it just doesn't seem to be there

Jillyhilly · 03/05/2020 12:44

I like Kate a lot. But crikey, at core she must be made out of fairly steely material. And I bet her family would have been fully involved in those early discussions about the life she was entering and how to handle it. I can’t see any other way that any normal, psychologically balanced person would either wish or be able to take on this role.

SheStoopsToConker · 03/05/2020 12:54

@Puzzledandpissedoff Even the less salubrious corners of the web don't seem to have any information on Scobie and who "he" really is.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/05/2020 12:56

W is bloody lucky to have Kate. Looking back, he didn't treat her very well

I admit the split when she asked for commitment, with the dancing on tables and "I'm free!!" always worried me
Everyone's different of course, but IME once it's gone it's gone. Clearly she thought it was worth it to bag her prince in the end, but it wouldn't have worked for me - I'd always have a little nagging doubt about whether he really wanted to be with me

I like this. Kate sounds genuinely empathetic. I give her credit for publicising an important message for pregnant women.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/05/2020 12:59

I know, and that's what confuses the hell out of me
Granted not everyone wants their entire life splurged online, but for someone who's gone "high profile" by writing a biography on such a subject, it just seems downright odd

Oldbutstillgotit · 03/05/2020 13:00

Apologies if this has been mentioned but could the RF take legal action to stop this book being published in the UK ?

tattychicken · 03/05/2020 13:04

The blurb sounds like Pseud's Corner in Private Eye.

Biscuit0110 · 03/05/2020 13:05

Meghan's problems run far deeper though, mainly because she has been so welcomed by the British public - who didn't adore her on her wedding day? Quite how she has ruined so much goodwill is beyond me.

Now she has exposed her true ambitions to simply acquire a prince and then maximise her status and financial gain in Hollywood through her connections to the RF so clearly, they have since been completely cut loose by the RF as a result, she will look to fast track her ambitions now. Meghan will soon hit forty, and she will soon become yesterday's news. The longer the coronavirus goes on for the harder it is going to be for the couple to maximise their novelty value. No one has the time or energy to care about them, when the world is dealing with a pandemic. The window for the launch of their celebrity brand is closing by the day, and with it the interest will wane.

Yes we are chatting about it on here, but who actually cares anymore in RL? Next we will have with a huge global recession to contend with, anything they do now will come over as extremely distasteful on the backdrop of tens of thousands of coronavirus deaths and mass global unemployment and suffering. They may not know it yet, but they are truly screwed. There is no way to make a fast buck now without looking vulgar and crass.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 03/05/2020 13:07

"Free free free Meg-han Maaaarkle"

(specials or fun boy three or both? cant remember)

RosesandIris · 03/05/2020 13:07

without looking vulgar and crass.

I think they’ve been looking that way for some time. I agree though, most people haven’t been following what they’re doing, and don’t give a sh*t.

Mariposa123 · 03/05/2020 13:15

I’m trying to work out why it is I was highly irritated by Meghan’s released webcam chats, but warmed to Kate’s. I’m acutely aware that they’ve done the same thing, and shouldn’t provoke different reactions, and am struggling to articulate (to myself!) why that is. Is it their way of speaking? Kate does seem more natural in her interactions than Meghan, less OTT and wordy, perhaps.

I don’t mean to compare and contrast the two, and it annoys me I’m falling into the daily mail trap of doing so! Anyone else feeling the same or do I need to give myself a stern talking to?

Mariposa123 · 03/05/2020 13:17

Also yes, the biography blurb is awful and fringe, and they really are sticking to the royal family’s important date calendar to time their announcements!

WotnoPasta · 03/05/2020 13:18

She’s a fool. She could have made herself very powerful/famous if she had been willing to put a few years in. The combination of them and W&K would have generated huge interest worldwide. They really could have been sold as a modern royal family.
I imagine she doesn’t get on with Kate though.

janaus50s · 03/05/2020 13:21

I feel like they are trying to re-write history.

I thought she was a bit OTT to begin with, but it was her own behaviour that made it clear that she could not take responsibility for her the inevitable consequences of her own behaviors. It took time for that to play out. She just cannot face up to the fact that everybody liked her to BEGIN with and she complained too much. She blew it. She thought kate had an easier ride!! She obsessed over that. Those of us who remember kate and her family being slagged off for a decade just ended up seeing that she was less resilient than kate, less emotionally mature, more of a victim, less self aware. Zero self awareness obviously.

EthelMayFergus · 03/05/2020 13:40

Mariposa Maybe it's because Kate is doing what the royal family do, and what is becoming expected of them to bring attention via publicity to a cause. Meghan pretended to want to escape all of that and live in privacy, so when her video chats are released it contradicts what she claimed to want, and brings attention to herself rather than the cause. (That's the difference for me.)

thisenglishlife · 03/05/2020 13:40

You sound like misogynistic man

Sadly it's the reality in Hollywood, where Meghan has chosen to be.

From the blurb of their book determined to create a new path away from the spotlight hard to believe that since they've made a press announcement or an announcement of announcement at least once or twice a week since they've "stepped back".

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/05/2020 13:49

Mariposa
The reason why you don’t like her webcam chats is because you can see through any insincerity. For parts of her chats at least, she is acting and not acting well. An actor is taught to live in the present moment, not watch or and monitor themselves and not to fall into the trap of becoming their own audience. The moment anyone does this, actor or not, they come across as insincere.

I rewatched her If you watched her

ButteryPuffin · 03/05/2020 13:50

The 'new path away from the spotlight' does sound very hollow. We're going to avoid the spotlight by releasing a book about ourselves! Right.
