Harry and Meghan biography

Hasn't Prince Harry learnt anything from his mother's experience of having someone write her biography 'to set the record straight'? Couldn't they have at least waited until after his grandmother's death, however long that might be?

Meghan would not see it as broken though. She will see it as her opportunity to be “global” and saintly. No need for saints if everyone has what they need!

SadOrWickedFairy · 02/05/2020 14:50

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the 'Markle 5' break ranks, I suspect they feel they are being, or are about to be, thrown to the wolves in the court case. They didn't sign up for this when they gave their interviews to the People, no-one will ever convince me they did so without MM's knowledge and at the very least her tacit approval.

Jillyhilly · 02/05/2020 14:50

Was Meghan the right sort of wife for Harry? I think this is rather well-put.

SliAnCroix · 02/05/2020 15:08

Charlotte really looks like Lady Sarah Chatto! It could be her daughter.

SquishyFishy · 02/05/2020 15:09

@artemisalways. Ooh - do tell!

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 02/05/2020 15:20

Insightful video.

artemis have you got a link for that please?

ArchePenguin · 02/05/2020 15:23

Charlotte takes after Princess Margaret. I bet she’s going to be a right handful.

Rumboogie · 02/05/2020 15:37

If they're smart they'll settle the rest of this for an undisclosed sum so people can claim that they won and they will save themselves from testifying

I thought that had been tried, but MOS declined to settle. Or have I just imagined that

@FannyCann
I think it's the other way around Winnie. The MOS offered to settle out of court a few weeks ago and they refused

MM tried to withdraw the case some time ago (presumably when she realised what a circus it would be) but the MoS would not agree.

More recently, as is my understanding, the MoS offered to settle the pre-trial hearing out of court to avoid the complications due to Covid. MM refused.

Why can't we have someone even vaguely sensible in these roles? I've just read the DM article on Margaret (I always feel silly calling grown men and women Princess or Prince - rather undignified and more than immature) and other royals. Hmm.

artemisalways · 02/05/2020 16:04

I haven't got a link but there is something on the Blind Gossip website. It may not be true but then again it might.

DeRigueurMortis · 02/05/2020 16:05

Here you go.

KayakingOnDown · 02/05/2020 16:20

Charlotte looks very like the Queen and I think she will be a very strong character - in a good way. I don't think she'll be like Margaret at all. She seems to be made of strern stuff and she knows her own mind.

George is quieter, sweet and sensitive, more serious.

Louis will be the naughty, cheeky, fun one.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 02/05/2020 16:21

Thanks, yes I saw the blind - I just forgot about it Blush

onceuponatimeinsuburbia · 02/05/2020 16:29

In respect of the pre trial application to strike out parts of the claim, MoS offered to settle the application on terms that MM withdrew her more lurid allegations and each side paid their own costs. MM refused. The judge struck out the offending/unsubstantiated/irrelevant parts of her claim and ordered her to pay MoS costs of the application including the hearing. She's contractually obliged you pay her own legal team & costs in any event. If she'd conceded those points the MoS wouldn't haves gone ahead with the hearing & would have limited the costs they sought from MM. The bulk of the costs come from the preparation & advocacy involved in the hearing, rather than the application itself. The comment from her QC that he was instructed to present the case in that particular way as his client insisted on it (ie like a stroppy teenager having a hissy fit) translates in barrister speak to 'my client is an utter fuckwit who thinks that she's the most intelligent & important person in the court and is going above & beyond to piss off the judge and get her arse handed to her on a silver platter' . Having made it clear that the client won't take any advice, said barrister moves into damage limitation mode fully aware that how he or she handles diva client will be more important than the judgement.

Oldbutstillgotit · 02/05/2020 16:40

I think the friend who is having second thoughts could be Serena Williams . I read somewhere that she wasn’t happy that MM had flown over to watch her play in the US Final. Apparently every time MM watches , Serena loses ! Tennis players are notoriously superstitious.

DeRigueurMortis · 02/05/2020 16:42

Once

There's very much a theme here of H&M refusing to take advice isn't there.

The pair of them seem so entrenched in their own bubble listening only to each other and validating what they want to hear.

DeRigueurMortis · 02/05/2020 16:47

The thing about Serena is that she's also got her own brand to protect.

Yes she makes a lot of money playing but it's the endorsements that have made her super wealthy.

I can imagine she'd be impressed by being put on the stand in the expectation of either committing perjury or admitting she'd leaked confidential information to the press without her friends knowledge.

That said I doubt it would be her (if indeed the story is true anyway).

Serena is wealthy and famous in her own right. She doesn't need M to elevate her own status.

M gains far more from that friendship than S does so it's pretty unlikely she'd be worried about getting kicked out of M's inner circle.

I’ve been on a few of these threads now. It seems that Megan's entire mo has been one of refusing to take advice even from the word go. She came into the Rf with an agenda of modernising it from the inside. This was evident on occasions, such as Trooping of the colour on the steps of Buckingham Palace, when Harry ended up giving her short shrift to look and turn round just before the national anthem was being played. By all accounts, she’d literally refused advice on how to act before stepping out in front of millions on the TV.

They can hardly have been taking advice before the wedding either. No way would her mum have been the only invitee to the wedding had she done so. They have brought so much of what is happening on themselves.

User0987613 · 02/05/2020 17:02

I also think Serena is one of them. Her husband tweeted something cryptically disapproving when the bombshell of them leaving the UK broke around Xmas and (I think) there was no public message of support from Serena herself. She has far more to lose than most of the other lesser known friends.

In direct contrast to Harry, Serena‘s husband is an extremely intelligent, self-made, multi-millionaire. He probably saw this shitshow coming and warned her to stay away...but it‘s too late now if she really was one of the 5.

Ineedabreak19 · 02/05/2020 17:06

I've said earlier that RF & the media are giving MM enough rope to hang herself with. I still think this hold true now especially with this case. The RF are playing the long game & hoping that as events unfurl MM will be exposed. They are hoping that the rose tinted glasses slip off & Harry sees clearly again. I don't know if operation rescue Harry will happen so easily though. Life is never so clear cut and easy though.

Nishky · 02/05/2020 17:09

I may have posted this before, but Serena tweeted ‘sips tea’ when the people article came out which suggests she may be one of the 5

BubblesBuddy · 02/05/2020 17:10

The summing up of the way the case was put together with Meghan apparently calling the shots despite having a first class barrister is spot on. That’s why elements were struck out and the judge said other aspects could be resubmitted but not in the way they were the first time around ie without Meghan’s emotional hyperbole.

BubblesBuddy · 02/05/2020 17:12

I don’t think the judge will care who did what. It’s not a legal argument in this case. It was given to a newspaper and what they did with it is the case. Not who gave it to them - in my view. Could be wrong though!

growinggreyer · 02/05/2020 17:13

I thought 'sips tea' was what you say when you hear juicy gossip. If you are passing on gossip you say 'spills tea'.
