People see K as a style icon? blimey. No.
(also i can't find the other thread, any chance of a link?)

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 17:54

Twirlycat77 "We just shouldn't have them"

In your opinion. The majority of the population disagree with you.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 17:58

Brefugee - Yes it was the same with Princess Diana.

HappyHammy · 23/04/2020 17:59

I expect they are doing the same as the rest of the RF. Sitting around being waited on and letting cv pass them by.

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 17:59

@mamamia456

Thanks, we can add 'you sound envious' to the list of excuses. Think I'm up to about 13 or 14 now Smile

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 18:00

Without freedom we have nothing? How ironic coming from somebody that supports an archaic institution of hereditary rulers that the public are obliged to pay for, whether they want to or not Hmm

Clavinova · 23/04/2020 18:06

Wolfgirrl
you've got about 6 or 7 years missing there

No you haven't - his Scottish degree course was 4 years (as they are) - then he had work or training courses (plus the occasional royal tour overseas) until July 2017 when he left the air ambulance service.

I noticed that you didn't address my link to Versailles - in a previous thread you were going to take over the royal palaces and put the revenue to good use - but Versailles appears to be costing the French government millions of pounds a year for the upkeep.

Clavinova · 23/04/2020 18:08

I see that anti-monarchy movement have gain 3 extra donations in the last 4 weeks. I hope you don't survive on commission. Grin

helterskelter3 · 23/04/2020 18:10

I am absolutely no Royalist, I am very much in favour of a republic being established but I cannot get on board with this bashing of a young family. Like it or not, most people want a monarchy and they are doing what has been asked of them. They seem to be doing what they can from lockdown. If they were out volunteering in full hazmat, then they would be accused of diverting resources away from the frontline, in pursuit of PR.
If you don’t like the monarchy then you should start lobbying for constitutional reform. Look what’s happened to Meghan and Harry when they’ve tried to leave on their own.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 18:20

Wolfgirrl - Not an excuse?? Just my perception of you.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 18:22

Wolfgirrl - If it bothers you that much write and ask for a refund.

twirlycat77 · 23/04/2020 18:23

Who’s bashing the whole family? It’s William we’re having a problem with, he’s not stepping up to the mark. Harry is no better. They’re all talk no action.

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 18:23

@mamamia456

You dont know me and it is irrelevant to the thread. Can you please re link to versailles? Must've missed it. thanks!

@helterskelter3 can you please cut and paste the part that was 'bashing' as opposed to valid scrutiny of a future Head of State? Ta

FarTooSkinny · 23/04/2020 18:24

The photo of Prince Louis and his hands reminded me of when my toddler did similar once when left on his own in the bathroom. Although it was less rainbowy and more browny

BurneyFanny · 23/04/2020 18:28

ISTR the public shelling out millions to redo Frogmore et al so frankly I’m not impressed with the Versailles argument. At least we’re allowed to visit it.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 18:29

Wolfgirrl - Versailles ? You're getting confused again. Did you go for that walk?

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 18:29

It's interesting, I've always considered my republican argument to be constructed very fairly. I've never commented on Kate's fashion sense, any personal insults to do with the way they look, the state of Kate and William's marriage, anything to do with their children or their recent scandals. I've concentrated on scrutinising their work, their reaction to the crisis, what they actually contribute to the public in return for the money they receive.

Yet all I've had back is personal insults: I'm envious, bitter, miserable. As well as the usual excuses people make for them.

I think that tells you more about yourself @mamamia456 than it does me.

People see K as a style icon? blimey. No.

At one time, anything she wore in public that it was possible to buy off the peg would fly off the shelves. I remember even the blanket that George was wrapped in as a baby sold out almost immediately.

OP posts:
Pelleas · 23/04/2020 18:41

this bashing of a young family

Why this persistent reference to them as a 'young family'? Kate and William are aged 38 and 37 - a very average sort of age to be parents in the 21st Century.

StoneofDestiny · 23/04/2020 18:50

Pretty lame to call someone envious because they oppose an outdated institution where independently wealthy millionaires live a life of luxury on the backs of hard working taxpayers.

I'd say they were simply holding the royal family to scrutiny. It's only when they are properly scrutinised that they change. They certainly do not change voluntarily.

The Queen - a multi millionaire - had to be shamed into paying taxes. She had to be shamed into dipping her hand into her own pockets following the Windsor Castle fire.
She had to be shamed into making her relatives pay a proper rent for living at Kensington Palace - remember £69 per week for the Kent's to live in palatial style in central London.
Beatrice was shamed into a smaller wedding following her sisters indulgence at her fathers insistence (remember him - pal of a paedophile who is hiding from the FBI?).
Harry had to be shamed into paying for the refurb of Frogmore Cottage Philip had to be shamed into giving up driving.

StoneofDestiny · 23/04/2020 18:51

Oh - and Fergie and Sophie would still be coining in a fortune trading in the royal name if they hadn't been scrutinised by the press.

twirlycat77 · 23/04/2020 18:52

Yet all I've had back is personal insults: I'm envious, bitter, miserable. As well as the usual excuses people make for them.

That’s because Wolfgirl, they haven’t got a valid argument. When lost for words....insult.

twirlycat77 · 23/04/2020 18:56

The queen also had to be shamed for not flying the flag at half mast for Diana. It shows how out of touch and clueless they are.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 19:33

Wolfgirrl - On the previous thread you accused someone of having low self esteem, so you can insult people but no one can insult you. Hmmm 🤔
