A continuation of the thread discussing the Cambridges' contribution to the pandemic.

Willy and Kate tend to put out a press release every so often regarding how "keen" they are to work with particular causes, but from what I can tell they have very little follow-through. Kate supposedly spent EIGHT YEARS researching early childhood, and recently presented the culmination of her "work": a five-question survey. I ask you, Mumsnetters, what would your boss do if you took so long produce so little work?

I know royals are good for the gossip rags, but I just can't get on board with the idea that this family are better than the rest of us by accident of birth. It's such an archaic concept. And as PPs have said, post-Coronavirus Britain - and the rest of the Commonwealth - may well decide they have many more pressing priorities than to keep indulging and supporting an over privileged, underworked family who could very easily live off their private wealth.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 22:30

Stoneofdestiny - Why do people on these threads think they have tutors. They are not home schooled, both Charlotte and George attend school. Louis is only a toddler so he doesn't need a tutor. And they don't have a nanny each, they have one nanny.

Alsohuman · 23/04/2020 22:36

There doesn’t seem to be much republican support in any age group.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 22:38

Wolfgirrl - Do you not join in with clapping?

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 22:45

@mamamia456

Gosh only the one nanny for them, how stressful.

And yes u do join in. However I dont feel the need to make it all about me by taking photos and sending them to the press.

Ah well I guess that counts as another engagement, now they can put their feet up for a week and play tennis.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 23:08

Livingoncake - That 5 question survey that you are so critical of is in relation to the Royal Foundation that Prince William founded. 100,000 people completed the survey in just the first week. The results will be used to help guide what can be done to help vulnerable children and families for generations.

OhMargo · 23/04/2020 23:13

Cannot warm to them at all. Sorry about that.

The teat is still there and they suck from it because they can, at our expense.

But anyway, the RF will be gone when I am gone, it is a doomed anachronism of elitist entitlement by birth or marriage.

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 23:20

@Mamamia456

If that is the result from a 5 question survey, imagine the impact she couldve made if she had actually worked full time Shock

Do you know what the questions were out of interest?

Mummyshark2019 · 23/04/2020 23:23

I suspect they spend most of their days outside by their pool sipping on chilled drinks. Whilst their kids are taken care of by the nanny and tutor.

Livingoncake · 23/04/2020 23:24

@Mamamia456

I know what it’s for, but the questions are very simplistic and I don’t see how it can be the culmination of eight years’ work. It also remains to be seen if anything will be done with the results, or if the Cambridges will just be “keen” to do something, again. I hope I’m wrong, but in almost a decade they’ve failed to convince me that they’re all that arsed about the British people.

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 23:24

@Mummyshark2019

The royalists will be along in a moment to say how wonderful it is that they're promoting swimming LOL

Wolfgirrl · 23/04/2020 23:27

@Livingoncake

Like william being 'keen' to rejoin the air ambulance in the pandemic Confused surprise surprise, nothing came of it.

A 5 question survey is a ridiculous culmination of 8 years' work. You know that, I know that. If that were a work project we would be fired. But kate couldve handed in a used tissue and mamamia and the other royalists would find a way to justify it.

twirlycat77 · 23/04/2020 23:39

It’s blind devotion isn’t it, no matter what they do. The thing is, if they ever came across a royal in real life, they’d be looked at like a piece of dirt on their shoe.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 23:42

Mummyshark - And again, they do not have a tutor, they are not home schooled.

Mamamia456 · 23/04/2020 23:43

Wolfgirrl - Now you're just being silly.

OhMargo · 23/04/2020 23:47

They are invisible now, so keep it like that and give them nothing. I don't think anyone misses the parasites now apart from the red top readers.

Why do they deserve all that just because they were born or married into it.

Swingingsally · 23/04/2020 23:52

I went to off will an when he was sneering at people being afraid of catching corna on his trip to Ireland. Of course having better medical teams than the elected PM of course he can literally afford to sneer.. He won't have to worry about medical help, his dc getting struck down.
I think once it took hold and PC had it, we saw more humility. Too late for me.

I've been on a packed ward with no medical equipment for my dc.
I've always defended William and Harry.. No amount of money can sooth the tragic brutal loss of a mother, nor the grubby Ness after her death, the inquest, etc.
But William, the whole Harry debacle....the way he laughed about corona....

Kate... Totally gone off her....

Sorry if my post has gone out of step with the thread...

I'm team Harry and Megan.. M

Livingoncake · 24/04/2020 00:01

@Mamamia456

Do you know for a fact that a tutor wasn’t brought in to teach the kids during lockdown?

Livingoncake · 24/04/2020 00:03

@Wolfgirrl

Exactly! I don’t know why so many Brits don’t think they deserve better from people they’re financially propping up.

Wolfgirrl · 24/04/2020 00:17

@livingoncake

Some people enjoy subservience. They like to feel like there is a noble, strong leader that genuinely cares about them because it makes them feel comfortable and protected. The alternative, that the people theyve been looking up to to their whole lives are self interested and lazy, would shatter their illusion and world view.

It's like people that bang on about the good old days and enjoy a good patriotic trip down memory lane. They choose to remember everyone being smartly dressed and the long hot summers, not the poverty and polio, as reality would ruin their rosy glow.

HavartiToSeeYou · 24/04/2020 01:30

I don’t believe for a second they only have one nanny.

Are people really still banging on about Frogmore? That whole thing was a scam. The Queen receives a lot of money which is supposed to pay for the upkeep of listed royal properties, but she’s failed in her legal obligation to do so. Getting Harry and Meghan to pay a cost the Queen is obligated to meet (and the Queen basically got the money for it twice) is such a scam. Besides everyone forgets that Harry and Meghan paid all the non-essential refurbishments out of their own pocket, unlike Will and Kate who did shit like use other people’s money to rip out and replace a brand new kitchen, have their house repainted twice in a row because Kate didn’t like the colour she chose, have a tennis court moved a few feet to one side so the view would be better, have the Middleton’s driveway replaced to up the value of their house right before they sold it. Unforgivable.

Brefugee · 24/04/2020 06:48

thanks @Pelleas

I'm astounded at her being a "style icon" because I'm used to the phrase meaning a trend setter which she isn't.
That the things fly off the shelves when she wears/uses them is something I'd heard before. So more power to her elbow, then when she purchases wisely (shall we say).

StoneofDestiny · 24/04/2020 06:57

They have more than one nanny and nursery staff to help. They also have private tutors at home.

RogueV · 24/04/2020 07:00

Well hello everyone!!!!
I’ve only just seen this.
I started the original thread Grin

Will catch up with it

StoneofDestiny · 24/04/2020 07:07

Grazia magazine reported, Catherine and William have decided to hire a ‘super-nanny’ to help with their eldest child.“The new nanny is a graduate of Bath’s prestigious Norland College,”“She’s fluent in six languages and will speak to the children in French and Spanish, as well as using her skills as a qualified child behavioural specialist to help Kate and William deal with tantrums and other issues.” It is thought that the couple’s current nanny, Maria Borrallo, who has been with the family since 2014, will stay on as the ‘head nanny’ out of the two*
