Yay! Harry is going to introduce Thomas the tank engine 75th anniversary episode. Very good. Crown as it gives me an excuse to post Biggie...

Roussette · 01/05/2020 14:51

when the numbered threads were running, that were, if you like 'critical' threads, posters would regularly arrive to tell the regular posters there that they were wrong, they shouldn't expect only agreement on the thread, they should be prepared to debate and have their views challenged, and also that they were horrible people. (You might, potentially, call this 'stirring'.)

Yep. I went on there. I haven't for a long time now, nor have others but yet here... on the positive threads, the dislike of MM and Harry and negativity has increased and more and more posters have come on. Strange. Perhaps you're all a bit bored of the other threads?! And you miss us?!

BTW I never called anyone horrible. I just challenged some non facts.

Samcro · 01/05/2020 15:07

I have also not posted on a critical thread for ages. there is no point.
they have now hidden away anyway.
maybe this is why this thread has turned. people don't know where the "number" thread is.
I actually like Meghan and Harry. they don't always get it right, but don't imo seem any worse that other royals.
I did read a post somewhere(can't remember which thread) about how maybe the york girls will now be used for more senior stuff.
that did make me wonder if people have forgotten all about PA .
compared to him M&H are angels. yet they are constantly ripped apart.

WinnieTheW0rm · 01/05/2020 15:28

There is the 'biography' thread also running in this topic.

It's not talking about this thread or the regular posters here (as pp said the 'nasty' thread is doing) but does seem to have moved away from the book in its title and is currently mainly talking about today's court outcome.

Does anyone know when the actual trial will start? For that is likely to throw them back into the headlines, no matter how little they want to be there

Dandyish · 01/05/2020 18:15

Where's the nasty thread @WinnieTheW0rm? If you mean the hidden one, then I disagree. There's a lot about Covid on there, which is nasty, but I don't think the critical commentary of HAM is nasty. Not to other people's taste or opinion perhaps, and cynical, but not nasty. We have and do welcome all and of course anyone is free to report posts.

Something we could all learn from the court case today - if your'e going to make emotive and pejorative statements, best to back it up with specific examples.

Dandyish · 01/05/2020 18:34

Was going to post this at lunchtime but my phone conked out and I lost the post.

this thread is often mentioned on other threads. I find it odd that a person is posting on a "critical" thread, the jumps over here to post critical stuff......odd or just stirring.

@Samcro

I think Roussette made a good point with her Tack Room comparison and I agreed with her. But then you came along with this. Which, to use your own wording, I find odd and stirring.

Before this thread was mentioned in other threads, there was a lot of mentions on previous positive threads and this one to other posters and other threads. To the extent that MNHQ told you several times to cut it out.

You then had a cute trick of saying that you'd seen certain criticism on the internet that you wanted to counter. That criticism would strangely correspond to something said on critical threads within the last 24 hours. Fine, fair fucks to you, fill your boots.

But let's not pretend that the mentioning of others is exclusively one way with that way coming from 'them/us' towards' you'.

I hadn't even read this particular thread until Rousette mentioned the hidden thread and a poster reading that came on to the hidden thread saying how she'd found it. I then came on to a look and to comment on that. Other posters did as well, not planned, but a natural result of being mentioned.

I respect that you want it to be positive about H&M and I haven't said negative about them. The only critical thing I've posted here was after Mummy made a dig about the lack of evidence and validity of sources on critical threads, then shared a screenshot of analysis from an unnamed law student that was posted on a gossip blog.

Moral of the story: if you don't want other posters from other threads posting here, perhaps stop mentioning them or their threads.

Samcro · 01/05/2020 19:11

Im assuming you mean mn told the thread, not me.
I do admit that a lot of the criticism i see is on mn. I don't read papers and the only stuff i have seen on the news is something about the court case and harry reading thomas the tank engine.
I do see a lot of pot calling the kettle here though.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 19:14

I don't think anyone should posting specific examples!!!

None of this is fun for anyone surely. Can't we just agree to disagree and just have a nice chat? Now that everything has been aired.

Genuinely all most of us want is a small corner to chat about the things that interest us.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/05/2020 19:19

I agree @SetPhasersTaeMalkie. Tbf the antagonism originated from people coming onto the H&M threads and telling posters they were horrible people who should be ashamed of themselves instead of just politely sharing opinions.

I for one would be only too happy to see both sides of the divide return to civilised discussion. But it does take two, and I don't see the pro-Sussexes setting any kind of example.

Samcro · 01/05/2020 19:19

@ SetPhasersTaeMalkie
I like that idea, life is shit for everyone at the moment. I am bad tempered as i am week 6 without a neck breaking cuddle from dd(sn)
And social distancing from my own son is odd.
Would probably not have minded when he was a smelly teen though.👹😈

It is so difficult just now isn't it? Lots of us have been ill or are still unwell or have very difficult circumstances. We could just draw a line and move on it everyone's up for it?

BarleylemonPenguin · 01/05/2020 19:26

I do admit that a lot of the criticism i see is on mn. I don't read papers

It’s been noted previously but MN is positively delightful compared to most comments about HaM in other publications, particularly the reader comments in the major newspapers.

Dandyish · 01/05/2020 19:28

I wasn't actually seriously suggesting people post specific examples @SetPhasersTaeMalkie Grin

More that they shouldn't write words like 'nasty' unless they have checked something out for themselves and can back it up. It was unfair in this case.

As for agreeing to disagree - I think it's better that we agree not to mention other threads or other posters personally, but sure. And a nice chat is always good.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 19:36

I'm glad you weren't being serious. It's difficult to tell when it's not face to face. Apologies for that.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 19:38

My keyboard is now eating words!!! It's difficult it should say.

Dandyish · 01/05/2020 19:42

It is indeed difficult to tell!

Samcro that sounds tough. You might not want a hug, and we're not allowed to give them at the moment anyway, so have a socially distanced shoulder pat of sympathy.

Dandyish · 01/05/2020 19:45

On second thoughts, that sounds condescending Shock

NOT my intention.

Times are tough, is all.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 01/05/2020 19:49

samcro The York sisters have done nothing wrong, their father has, they should not be the ones punished for his crimes by being ostracised purely because they are his daughters.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 19:50

I've been flying with the idea of opening a bottle. I'm on my own and have got a lot of work to catch up on tomorrow but I think I'm going to go for it.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 19:50

Toying not flying ffs.

BarleylemonPenguin · 01/05/2020 19:57

I am bad tempered as i am week 6 without a neck breaking cuddle from dd(sn)

Aw, you’ll get your cuddle soon. Everyone is bad-tempered at the moment. I liked the pipe of peace, cupcake and bottle of wine ideas! I think we should all have one big party on here now - we’ve got the goodies Grin

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/05/2020 20:00

I can't find a decent glass so I'm drinking cheap Cava from a mug.

Samcro · 01/05/2020 20:01

Sadly not sure when, the residential place will be in lockdown for ages, but thank goodness for face time.
Thanks for the kind words.
