I agree about the more natural make up, yolo.

I also thought, thinking back to her performance at the Dagenham school, that it was quite a charming effort on her part. It was exactly her level and played to her best qualities. I do believe if she had been satisfied with low profile events such as this she could have had significant reach and impact over time.

She describes herself as very ambitious. I think she is too ambitious, but maybe that's not her fault, she comes from a culture where everyone is encouraged to believe that anything is achievable. But it's difficult to reconcile this rather bumptious approach with our British appreciation of diffidence and self-deprecation.

The thing I would like to see in her is a touch of humility but I'm not sure it's something she is capable of.

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 17:42

So it’s now acceptable to speculate and bitch over a woman’s childcare choices on this site? I thought that was “ not in the spirit”? It’s striking that the faux concern is now about the same baby that some posters here actually nicknamed “Merchie”, with no comment on that from @MNHQ!

Using even her baby to beat her with. Classy stuff on a website for parents, by parents.

Why not just be honest? Why not start a long running thread called “We Really Hate Everything About Meghan Markle” and have done with it?

Some of us would at least applaud your honesty.

ajandjjmum · 08/03/2020 17:47

Meghan has made many poor decisions in my opinion. Leaving her son, on this occasion, is not one of them.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 17:49

It’s not childcare choices per se. It’s more about why the pair of them would not want extended family to see their child, given that they left the UK in November. When they returned to the UK for a few days in January , he was left behind then too. It just seems sad and strange that they would do this. It causes comment , obviously.

Nail on head @Tsukukuviri, nail on head.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 17:50

Especially since they’re leaving for good next week. PP is a very old man and could die anytime. HM is well into her nineties. They could die anytime theoretically, though I would guess HM will live a good while yet.

@Tsukukuviri I don’t hate MM.

LaMarschallin · 08/03/2020 17:53

Now that I've read it, I didn't think the Camilla Long article expressed anything too different from what's been said before.

The bit about:
"It astonishes me that anyone can forget this by simply looking at a "great" and "iconic" "look of love" photo* - what does Harry and Meghan being "in love" have to do with anything anyway?
Bonnie and Clyde were in love; so were Fred and Rosemary West."
was completely inappropriate and ill-judged, but apart from that it didn't say anything too different from what's been said here.

*Referring to the other OTT paragraph (imo) above, which said:
"However glossy and glamorous Meghan's final trolling lap of the country may seem, let us never forget the appalling and destructive and grasping manner in which she left. Let us never forget that she effectively threatened the Queen, hinting that she and Harry could give a television interview in which the royal family would be revealed as 'racist and sexist'. ".

**The "umbrella" photo.

The crossword was a bit of a toad, though, and I still can't work out why
2 down is "arson".

stairway · 08/03/2020 17:54

I don’t hate her either, I’d like to think I was neutral. I wouldn’t fit on the other thread as it’s all about how amazing they both are apparently.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 17:55

Hate is a very strong word. Dislike, perhaps.

I don’t see any Merchie reference Confused

I judge her and Harry for not bringing Archie this trip when they didn’t bring him in Jan

Could respect not bringing him to one but not both

I don’t see it as judging childcare as even if he was here he’d be with the Nanny a lot of the time

For all we know the Nanny could secretly be an alcoholic who’s living it up on the Canadian spirits while ignoring Archie’s nighttime cries

I’m sure she or he is amazing and like another parent

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/03/2020 17:58

Why not start a long running thread called “We Really Hate Everything About Meghan Markle” and have done with it?

Because the only people posting on it would be those who love everything about her and can’t bear others not to feel the same.

ajandjjmum · 08/03/2020 17:59

The Merchie reference was from weeks ago - and many posters called it out.

stairway · 08/03/2020 18:00

I did look briefly at the other thread but it was all too sickly sweet for me. I’m not sure I could even manage a whole thread about how amazing I am tbh.

Ho hum

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 18:06

Some reasons to dislike her, just from the last three threads include:

Taking her baby to SA
Leaving her baby in Canada

Saying she’s a woman of color to other WOC
Reminding you of Kim Kardashian

Wearing a dress that’s not taken in properly
Holding her husband’s hand
Having close set eyes
Wearing too much makeup
Having teeth whiter than an average British person

Wearing red while H was in red dress uniform
Smiling too much and looking smug
Not smiling in one photo in a car

Going to talk to Dagenham to talk to kids about IWD

Being a bad, third rate actress
Speaking well because she is an actress

Wearing Givenchy
Not wearing Givenchy
Not wearing pantyhose

Walking ahead of Harry
Fakely asking if Harry wanted to go first at one event

Having a California accent
Her fake LA person

Honestly. Don’t you get tired of all the parsing and carping?

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 08/03/2020 18:11

Sounds like you have a spreadsheet Tsukukuviri

Good for you

You forgot 'having a padded bum'. Yes, really!Hmm

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 18:13

Seriously?

They are actually being compared by a “serious writer” in a “serious paper” to Bonnie and Clyde ... and to Rosemary and Fred West!?!

And someone up there thinks this is just “inappropriate and ill-judged”?

Talk about minimizing!!

BillieEilish · 08/03/2020 18:14

@Tsukukuviri, yep! We all have opinions. They differ. We choose to discuss them. On this thread.

I hope that's ok with you? I would start your own threads as you seem to have a lot to say on issues not to do with this thread and took a lot of time on the last thread about racism, which derailed it somewhat. Flowers

Nobody is racist, nobody 'hates' MM, we are just mothers who do things differently. With opinions.

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 18:15

@SaidTheActressToTheBishop

No spreadsheet! Just a good memory for the extraordinary pettiness I have been reading here.

@Sunshineand

How could I forget the padded bum!!! Grin

BillieEilish · 08/03/2020 18:16

People really change their style of writing, on posts, don't they?

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 18:16

I think the blanket worship is far more worrying to be honest.
