It would be rather more charming if she behaved like a decent person, and didn't - with her DH - focus on what is best for them, with no regard for the other members of her family - despite the fact that they still rely on them for financial support.

I think she is focused on what is best for her family, with her child being chief among those concerns.

I can answer my own question re empty seats - it was the angle on tv.
C& C came along and sat with W&K. H&M and E &S were a row behind. Saw photos.

Harry looks a bit tense but is bloody lovely to kids on way in and out - as a pp said, probably cos kids look chuffed to see him.

Which is absolutely fair enough. But in doing what is best for your immediate family, you don't have to tramp roughshod over your extended family imo.

Particularly within the RF (which after all, has always paid their wages), this should have been discussed and resolved between themselves, and the problems sorted, before it became public.

And the advice on MN had she been on Relationships would have been to do just that. I hope they are snuggled up and happy. Queenie cannot berate the press nor be seen to be going against public opinion in terms of them having any dual role, but behind the scenes I bet she hopes the same

But she hasn't run roughshod. She and Harry made a joint decision. HMQ seems to be taking it in stride. But the media and much of MN and other social media have made a drama out of it that is really far greater than its implications.

On the comment above about feeling sorry for the “ poor Queen who started her reign with an empire and now has no empire” etc, it is tone deaf comments like this that make some of us sit up.

I think you missed the point of that post and should sit right back down. The post was not about HM having an empire. It was about how, when HM started her reign, the queen was the head of an empire and she sacrificed her family for that empire, and now, those sacrifices were (in the poster's opinion), all for naught.

What do we think they're doing tonight then? In first class quaffing champagne and watching the Crown, on the way back to Canada, or lying in their PJ's watching TV and eating a takeaway at Frogmore? Or they could be at the reception at BP..

I hope you're right - they're at KP having a glass of wine and takeaway with William and Kate, after having read a bedtime story to the children. And having promised that they can all come over and stay during the summer holidays, so the children can go bear hunting in BC together.

In reality - trying to squeeze what's left into their luggage, before they catch the last flight to Vancouver tonight.

I don’t know why, but for some reason I have this picture in my head of the RF, all in their separate couples watching the Windsor’s and drinking Gin. They probably need the latter after the drama surrounding today. And the Windsor’s would cheer them up in a “it could be worse” kind of ways.
