I want the security issue resolved before the 31st March that means that British tax payers aren’t lumbered with paying more for security than we were previous to them moving to Canada

Doubt it will be resolved by then though

Hope I’m proved wrong

I’d really like them to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to security and say they’ll take care of the extra cost themselves or they’ll scale down the security

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 20:05

No it isn’t weird. Some people just seem to see Ms colour and not the person . She isn’t an ambassador for blackness. She’s a person. Her behaviour is open to scrutiny .

I think the feeling about her appearance is that it seems to be aiming for a certain standard or look that is favoured by celebrities in America. It isn’t something that is usual in the RF or even the aristocracy. The references to KK illustrate this. It’s what LA actresses might aspire to but it doesn’t go down particularly well over here.

Well said.

Re Meghan and WOC issue:

My husband has just done a comedic double-take because he thought Meghan was of Mediterranean/South American heritage. I have no idea what he’s been doing with his time...😐 Moral of the story - not sure how many people actually notice or care about the WOC issue.

It also occurs to me that the issue of dislike for Meghan, which some people appear to take personally, is conflated with a generalized dislike of the royal family. The fact is that apart from a smattering of ‘royalists’, ordinary citizens barely tolerate them and, in most cases, actively dislike their roles and what they stand for. Unearned privilege is never going to go down well in societies striving for meritocracy. We just don’t have a choice -so far - about keeping them. Meghan joined a disliked institution. I have no idea why anyone, including her, thought she’d receive any kind of support or praise.

Winterlife. You simply cannot know that MM has had "buttocks enhancements" ffs

Your posts are giving off a bit of a creepy vibe. You've previously posted about MMs body inappropriately IMO. Not sure why you feel the need to do that.

Jonb6 · 08/03/2020 20:13

The sooner they leave the UK the better. I quite liked them. Now I don't because of their behaviour.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 20:16

Encyclo

Can we please let the buttock issue drop now? It’s getting boring.

I think the feeling about her appearance is that it seems to be aiming for a certain standard or look that is favoured by celebrities in America.

Exactly. Although there is always something a little "off" with MM. Tags not removed from clothing, swimming in them, or too tight. It's little details. I suspect she is happiest in jeans or leggings.

@Barleylemom The first time I saw MM was in a Reitman's ad on television in Canada. Reitman's is a low end clothing chain in Canada, and MM had a collection with them, which apparently sold very well.
I had never watched Deal or No Deal, nor Suits, so I had no idea who she was (she passes by a man, who says "That's Meghan Markle", and then does a quick dance spin around with her). I didn't realize she was biracial when I saw that ad. I didn't know she was biracial until it was reported in the British press.

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:20

@Encyclo Pointing out a person has a particular body shape is not "creepy". I have no issues disclosing my body shape, and I know how difficult it is to dress to flatter my figure type.

If we were posting about Kate Middleton, I would say I wish I had her lovely long legs or her gorgeous hair, and I'd wonder if she uses extensions, because her hair is unbelievable.

YgritteSnow · 08/03/2020 20:22

My husband has just done a comedic double-take because he thought Meghan was of Mediterranean/South American heritage.

I did too until I was called a racist on here for saying something remotely negative about her. I'm not and these days I don't really care about being called one. The accusation is losing all its power and I think that's quite dangerous for society as a whole.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 20:23

Winterlife. I found the analysis of her spandex under her dress and the way it was "pushing against her breasts" creepy.

And now this latest post.

Like I said. Creepy.

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 20:23

@PelicanPie

Well since, as you say, her appearance is not up to RF standards, it’s just as well she’s leaving then, no??!

See, this is what gets me about this thread. A sense of “we really dislike this woman who is just so wrong in so many ways, and how dare she try to escape and how dare she want to be happy! We want her in the RF damn it, trussed up in hosiery and with teeth like ours and no padded buttocks.”

I exaggerate but so many of the comments here are so resentful and spiteful, going way beyond tax issues!

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:25

Well @Encyclo, you see what you want to see. I had no issue with a woman wearing Spanx, either if it makes her feel more confident/comfortable/sexy, etc.. But if she does wear Spanx, its lines should not be visible in her clothing. That's what I commented on, not the Spanx itself.

You have a funny way of twisting things to suit your own narrative.

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:26

^have no issue

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 20:27

I call it as I see it Winterlife

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:28

@Tsukukuviri I'd make the same comments about a Hollywood starlet.

Do you remember when Angelina Jolie was mocked for this photo?

www.msn.com/en-us/movies/celebrity/angelina-jolie-reflects-on-her-meme-making-2012-oscars-dress-i-was-just-so-comfortable/ar-AAI7un6

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:29

And you'd be wrong @Encyclo. But don't let that stop you. I'm certain it makes you feel superior in some way.

yolofish · 08/03/2020 20:30

I go back to my "no one likes the new broom who tries to sweep too quick" metaphor (if it was a metaphor?!)

OK, so you've got a new job in an ancient institution which is respected by many many people and disliked by some.

Do you

a) spend some time familiarising yourself about how it works, who does what to whom, what the potential opportunities/challenges are

or

b) hit the ground running, ruffle the existing feathers, upset people along the way and then decide that your new broom approach isn't working and tantrum off to the next job?

LittleBearPad · 08/03/2020 20:31

It’s the manner of their leaving that irks. H&M haven’t behaved well in the last two months. The UK has been branded racist but it’s expected to pay 7 times more for their security as they fly around the world in private jets telling us all off about climate change, and trying to control the Queen.

As I say - it irks.

Tsukukuviri · 08/03/2020 20:32

@winterlife

Sorry I don’t remember any such thing as I don’t take obsessive interest in how women completely unknown to me wear their underwear. You are on your own there, Sister!

DjenneJen · 08/03/2020 20:32

Tsukukuviri I’m absolutely with you that pulling apart a woman’s appearance is not acceptable. I couldn’t give a flying fart what MM wears, how she chooses to style her hair or make up her face. Her decisions are as valid as any other woman’s. Bitching about these things is awful. As a member of the RF though I feel how she and Harry behave and the things they say are not beyond scrutiny. At least not while they are still officially part of the RF.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 20:32

Tsuk
I think the majority of people on this thread want them to be happy actually. I do. We’re just dismayed and disappointed by her, and him too. I for one would like them to go as soon as possible. I also want them to pay back the tax payer for Frogmore and drop all pretensions to being Royalty. They have forfeited that privilege and certainly shouldn’t be trading off it or using it to make money for themselves. Let them make their own way in the world now. Stop using other peoples money and stop bleating about hard life is for them. No more borrowing mansions or taking favours. No chat shows bemoaning their lot. Especially no more lectures from them on the importance of kindness or care for the planet. Then no one will give a toss. They won’t like that though...

OP posts:
Winterlife · 08/03/2020 20:35

It's not an obsession. Merely an observation. And, it wasn't about underwear. It was about a dress being so tight that underwear was visible through the dress.

I like fashion, and that's why I comment. I thought MM looked spectacular a few times - in her engagement dress, in the coat and hat for Remembrance Day.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 20:35

Not at all Winterlife. I'm not the only one who thinks your comments about MMs body are...odd.

Other posters were also a bit "WTF"
