How is your daughter? I hope you have been able to get updates about how she is doing. I know personally some days are harder than others especially with disabled children/family.

I’m trying to avoid the news as much as I can( failing though lol).

She is good thanks, finding it really hard not being able to see her through. I miss my son too but at least i can phone nad chat to him.
But she is better off there, at leaset she is with her friends.

Long time lurker on these threads - I just want to point out one thing. They said they made "arrangements for privately funded security", but it's looking like that's in addition to taxpayer funded security.

That is not good enough for me. There is no reason that already wealthy private citizens should get taxpayer funded security. The only way I can only see this whole thing working for them is if they base themselves in the UK and leverage already existing security for the actual working royals. (Like Zara living in her mother's estate)

As an aside - My guess is that H&M only arranged for private security, as they needed to. There aren't enough Met officers either willing to go back and forth between LA and London or uproot their families and make that move.

@Samcro glad she is doing well under the circumstances. It’s hard being away from family at these times, hopefully this too shall pass.

I don't think anybody is disputing whether or not they need security. Their need for security, however, doesn't and shouldn't obligate the taxpayer to fund it.

I think that's the crux of the matter. Many people pay a large amount of tax in the UK already, and are concerned, given the current crisis, about haemorraging money out to pay for their escalating security costs. Why has this not been addressed correctly, with full disclosure, rather than ignored and obfuscated via "leaks".
The Royal Family also need to step up to the plate and report exactly how much the bill is.

Yes they need security, but unless they are working for the UK taxpayer I see obligation for us to fund it. They've made their choice not to live in the UK, where security could have been provided more cheaply/effectively. So why do we still have to pay for it?

I suppose samcro that the mood of the nation has changed quite a lot over the last two weeks of lockdown and the preceding weeks/months of govt faffing about and anxiety.

Personally, I hope HMQ has a positive, reassuring message tomorrow that will help people. But in the meantime, the happiness of two very rich, very priviliged people really doesnt seem as important as it could have done. I don't wish them ill, I hope they're fine - but on the scale of things? pfft.

I agree that the mood of the country has changed and that people are angry and anxious . I’m especially worried that the government’s inaction early on and even now has put doctors like my husband and other health workers in danger.

But that has nothing to do with Harry and Meghan at this point.

chrisseldah1 it kind of does though, if you see the RF as a 1000 year old institution, important to the fabric of our society and our cultural references. I'm not particularly pro or anti Monarchy, although on balance I think the Queen has done a brilliant job.

But Harry & Meghan have upset the applecart, and ever since they did the country's situation has got worse and worse - and meanwhile they continue to come up with inane Insta posts and appear to demand more. It's not going to go down well...

I don’t see how them two stepping away or posting stuff on their Instagram could exactly destroy the monarchy. I’m sure if that were the case Andrew’s hanging around with a convicted sex offender would have done more damage but it didn't.

I would hope that as much as some may be upset about the handling of the whole exit and other issues surrounding it, it can at least be acknowledged that them two have absolutely nothing to do with the crisis we are in. The whole world is facing this monster, and Harry and Meghan matter not in the grand scheme of things.

There's no doubt that Andrew's past is questionable, and his tax and security affairs should also be clarified to the UK public taxpayers.
I wouldn't have thought of it before, chrisseldah1 but perhaps now is the time for a full audit of all royal security accounts.

Most people are worried about their own families, I doubt if they the headspace to cyber stalk royals.

Total of topic, if you need a laugh in these awful times, there is a film on netflix called coffee and kareem, its really funny. Just watched it.

People who weren’t happy to foot the security bill had that opinion weeks ago, it’s got nothing to do with coronavirus.

@Samcro oh will check that out. I don’t sleep much nowadays and could use a laugh.

I have to be honest I can't feel much about the royals at the moment.
They all seem to be hidden and safe, except PC. None of them will be facing not seeing their disabled child for god knows how long.
