I was standing in a queue yesterday in the post office and picked up a copy of Heat, which I never read. It was saying that H has been surprised that M is arranging things to do without him such as going to the Met ball. He thought they'd do everything together. I know it's trashy speculation but it is an interesting possibility. M goes off on her plan for world domination and H stays behind with Archie and the dogs.

The person who started the affair rumours is a MM fan. She admitted she started the rumour and leaked it to the press. I can't remember her name, but I don't believe she knows MM personally

This bit of misinfo has really spread. She never started that rumour, but she had speculated that the affair was the cause of the rift between the brothers.

The DM was reporting on this ages before Nicole Cliffe and Giles tweeted anything. The DM printed some oblique and puzzling articles on the Turnip Toffs and how Rose was banished from their circle etc etc. No obvious reference to an affair (likely
for legal reasons) but people were reading between the lines on those.

I think it’s true though. He’s been photographed being touchy feely with other women when out clubbing.

Yes - afaicr, GC tweeted to confirm ideas of an affair (which were already out there) by saying something like: Of course, darling, everybody knows there was an affair.

Apparently, his wife's sister (married to Alexander Armstrong) has connections with royal circles.

He took it down pretty quickly though and, from what I've read, is given to twattish tweeting and isn't a great exponent of the "don't post pissed" doctrine.

Just posting for the first time to say how much I have appreciated these RF threads. (For the most part) they have been so interesting, challenging and a space to come and work out what I think and how I feel about the whole H&M experience. Weirdly I can’t find anyone who is interested who wants to talk about the politics of it-or am generally thought to be churlish and even envious if I express my thoughts on why I feel so angry about paying spiralling security costs.
I have also struggled to work out how to separate what feels reasonable to comment on ,with what feels too personal. I can also see why people are invested in Meghan- particularly as someone bringing diversity into an old institution. Can I equate it to having a female prime minister? As a woman I am overjoyed to have females in top jobs- but then if they are criticised I find it hard to separate what is a fair criticism from what seems to be more the fact they are female. I’m invested in what they represent- which makes it all the more difficult when I then have to work out which parts of the criticisms being bandied around are just.
I remember being incredibly joyous watching the wedding (despite not being very pro royal) because a woman of colour was coming into the RF. I had a slight uneasy feeling that I couldn’t quite name though- something to do with the fact that it seemed quite insecure/narcissistic to make so many changes and statements at such an early stage (but told myself it was just confidence).
And now- decimation. Would love to hear a family therapists/ group analyst’s view on how the whole thing played out!
I can only compare it when I have started new jobs in established teams. Play the long game- observe- prove your work ethic- then make changes once you have the respect of everyone around you. It takes time. And emotional intelligence. Not been enough of either.

Wowzers, that DM (which I never read ) article... Penguingate aside, H is gushing forth and seemingly unstoppable with his verbiage. This does not bode well. What a disaster. He needs advice ("zip it") stat.

I rather think PH feels he knows it all. No advice necessary.

I've read a suggestion or two that the transcripts were leaked by HaM themselves. To get his voice heard. Which, the argument goes, explains why he sounds so fluent and articulate and is saying so much.

Did he play back the part about the penguins and still think it was ok to put it out there?

That’s the part that points to this being something he swallowed hook, line and sinker. He just loves the sound of his own voice, presumably.

Really interesting insight, @Brainfoglightson about the female PM. Those of us who remember Margaret Thatcher being elected will get that analogy.
