Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

I don't mean we are laughing at him but the hoaxers were?

Ilovellamas · 11/03/2020 16:53

the penguin banter is funny, it’s cheered me up today and I needed that.

Pranking Harry is a disgrace and horrible - I don’t think anyone has said otherwise!! Plus that sort of behaviour is not funny.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/03/2020 16:57

I guess it will come down to what else the Russians release (as I think they've said they will?), how much influence the palace has over publication or not and whether its worth it for them in terms of damage limitation/time/money

I suspect those last few words will about sum it up
As with the old quote about the dancing dog, the notable thing for me isn't whether he did well or badly, but that he did it at all - which IMO, if this really is true, leads once again to questions about his judgement

stairway · 11/03/2020 16:58

It’s obvious that Harry does think his son is safer in Canada, which is why he probably won’t be back on British soil ever again which is really sad. I don’t agree with him though, I think Archie would be much safer under the protection of monarchy in this country.

GoFiguire · 11/03/2020 17:09

Is it my imagination or were the only pap shots of Archie taken on Canadian soil?

yolofish · 11/03/2020 17:15

I know, from watching my DD with my MIL how absolutely gut-wrenching it is to have a trick played on you, especially when many of the other adults there were in on the trick (yes, looking at you PIL and SIL).

That's why I feel truly sorry for H to be taken in like this, which I think every poster has expressed too. It's a horrible thing to do to someone.

It's also noticeable when someone comes along with an agenda to disrupt.

But the penguins have made me cry with laughter today, for which I thank you Comrade Penguins.

yolofish · 11/03/2020 17:20

PP said about Ant and Dec laughing with the person after the event, it's all done with their permission etc.

That's what I meant when I said the trick-ee has to laugh along with it as otherwise they are seen as a bad sport. Tricks aren't funny, they're cruel and unkind - almost a form of gaslighting actually.

FizzyLimes · 11/03/2020 17:21

What does Harry think he is protecting his son from exactly?
If it’s from overexposure, it should be noted that Meghan has also registered TigTots as well as maintaining the rights to the Tig.

The vitriolic press maybe? Just a thought....

Butterymuffin · 11/03/2020 17:26

No one has laughed at Harry being tricked and it's not fair to imply that we have @MichaelMumsnet. But I look forward to this zero tolerance of disagreement between posters on threads being implemented across the whole of Talk.

RosesandIris · 11/03/2020 17:32

Yes, I agree. I think he's being extremely foolish. After all, William's children are very well protected, despite them being much higher profile Sophie\s children are only seen very occasionally. He's being quite stupid I think. Archie will be much more exposed in the US and Canada and also isolated from all cousins, Uncles and Aunts and grandparents. Apart from Doria of course.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/03/2020 17:33

Fizzy apparently it was claimed that the TigTots registration was made, not so that Meghan could use it, but to stop others:
royalcentral.co.uk/uk/the-tig-is-not-being-relaunched-by-the-duchess-of-sussex-130601/

However the piece was from last September, so whether intentions have changed since then I couldn't say

yolofish · 11/03/2020 17:42

TigTots? but I do hope you are right puzzled that it was to prevent others using it.

To explain, if needed, I think TigTots just sounds absolutely hideously twee.

Pranksters are bullies. Nothing more nothing less.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 18:08

But Tig was shorthand for MMs favourite wine.
Slapping Tots to it is akin to Carling Tots or, if we want a bit of class, Gewurtztraminer Tots. 🧐

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 11/03/2020 18:08

Pranksters are bullies. Nothing more nothing less.

No argument here.

Ilovellamas · 11/03/2020 18:12

Apparently there are Macaroni Penguins.

I’m sure there is something to be said about stockpiling pasta and getting penguins at the airport instead.

Rainbows8117 · 11/03/2020 18:15

Not just that but also petty deletions. If the 'spirit of Mumsnet' is not to speculate, criticise, comment on high profile figures such as H&M, then I wonder why it's appropriate to allow the PA thread to stand? (Or Boris, or Trump?) PA has not been arrested, extradited, charged as yet has he? So it's all speculation right now. He's been called 'Scum of the earth' earlier and it's not been deleted. Maybe he is and I obviously agree his actions do not look good, but I can't bear the double standards. Why are some profile figures fair game? How do we know which are and which aren't?
PA is a parent too and has daughters who are just as likely to read MN as H&M are. Is it fair on them to read these things about their dad?

I actually think the PA threads should be allowed to stand btw, as well as these ones. Just seems to be volume of reports rather than the actual content that triggers deletion, and it's not fair on those posters that are conversing constructively. The vast majority of posts do not break talk guidelines. It's just people 👀 don't like to see any criticism of them whatsoever and MNHQ just get sick of the reports.

Roussette · 11/03/2020 18:21

How do you know that people are reporting these threads? That's a bit paranoid. Maybe MNHQ are just monitoring them.
I haven't reported a post since about 5 threads ago, or possibly even earlier than that.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 18:22

Well to be fair this whole afternoon has been penguin silliness, then a bit of chastising about coldheartedness, then many posters explained (unnecessarily IMO) that we all condemned the pranksters and prancing in general, in now deleted thread and throughout this one.

I’m not sure what and whom needs to start loving, MNHQ? Maybe the posters who arrived and started flinging accusations to a bunch of penguin posting jokers? 🤔

Bellehare099 · 11/03/2020 18:24

Well said, Rainbows.

7Worfs · 11/03/2020 18:25

Lol, autocorrect sure loves to turn pranking into prancing 🤐

Bellehare099 · 11/03/2020 18:26

Consistency is of the utmost importance when posters are being moderated.
