I wimped out of the other thread title I planned as I thought it might look goady.

But please let’s keep it as the reality-and-let's-avoid-idle-speculation-and-reliance-on-dodgy-sources thread (thanks Seneca!).

I never saw that Poppyfields21 and if I had been watching the News at the time I doubt I would've noticed. If you look for fault, you find fault.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 26/02/2020 11:10

It’s actual quite hard working for a family firm as you have to prove your worth more. At least I did.

annielouise · 26/02/2020 11:11

Laurie: JP Morgan is a perfectly legitimate business with no known scandal attached to it.

Now I've just Googled "JP Morgan scandals" and the top headlines read: "Unpacking the JP Morgan Chase scandals...", "Jamie Dimon $13bn secret..." (Dimon was CEO), "With three felony counts already, did JP Morgan Chase...", "Is JP Morgan Chase America's most corrupt bank?" and "JP Morgan: defying attempts to end 'too big to fail'". The sources are socialism.com (!), Vanity Fair, thewallstreetjournalonparade, Forbes and the FT.

Also a Reuters headline: "Scandals cost JP Morgan $1bn in fines."

"No known scandal attached to it" as you say? I thought you said opinions were going to be more scrutinised on this thread? Was it just your opinion there was no known scandal attached to it? Is it only certain opinions being scrutinised?

Poppyfields21 · 26/02/2020 11:11

Rousette equally one could choose to be blind to shortcomings if they don’t fit the chosen narrative...

Everycloud12 · 26/02/2020 11:13

I haven't read the thread but I've noticed a few DM commenters saying that H&M are speeding up the demise of H's grandparents. A supposed expert also said this on a UK TV breakfast show (can't remember which show).

When either the queen or Philip dies, despite the fact that they're both well into their 90s, H&M will now get all the blame.

katiegoestoaldi · 26/02/2020 11:13

I saw that Poppy. Very bad form for a Royal

Roussette · 26/02/2020 11:17

Poppy call it what you will.

If the Queen lives another 10 years, it'll still be their fault when she goes.

Encyclo · 26/02/2020 11:18

I don't think the need to be lauded at every turn, but because they are being slammed and criticised at every turn I feel the need to stick up for them a bit.

It's the harder path at the moment, but I love "dear old Harry" as Charles called him. Meghan can do great things IMO. I'm still on their side.

I also like W&K a lot. I've met Charles and he was lovely, also he was so gallant on H&M's wedding day, so I can forgive him many of his missteps too.

HMQ deserves nothing but respect for what ah has achieved. Her public support of PA has given me pause, but she's 93 and his Mum, so I'm not starting threads to rip into her over that.

The rest I can take or leave tbh

rockingchaircandle · 26/02/2020 11:18

H&M are speeding up the demise of H's grandparent oh no, Sad that's horrible. I would have thought people wouldn't be so cruel and ghoulish but having seen comments recently, especially on Instagram (no anonymity), I think you're right and some people will.

LaurieMarlow · 26/02/2020 11:19

All those interested in painting JP Morgan as a dreadful business that no royal would have any associations with might be interested to learn that the Queen honoured it with an award.

Stress does increase morbidity.

katiegoestoaldi · 26/02/2020 11:20

That's another thing that's been puzzling me Every. Why do this now? Why the sudden rush? It's not like Archie is starting school imminently so they need to be settled where they want to live. Plans were in place before they went to Canada for their initial six week trip. Time should have been taken putting things in place and all this could have been avoided

The RF isn't your average family business, surely, surely, they must have known it wouldn't have been as easy as just releasing a statement and upping sticks

Roussette · 26/02/2020 11:21

It's funny on this thread. Those that are anti-H&M are bringing all these 'things' that have happened in the past for us to defend. What about what about what about. The couple are not perfect, I've never said they were, but some of it is just nothing AFAIC even if it is a shortcoming of mine not to find it 'bad form' Grin

Poppyfields21 · 26/02/2020 11:22

@Roussette sorry what? I’ve made no reference to the queen dying?

Encyclo · 26/02/2020 11:22

Stress does increase morbidity.

Tell Prince Andrew that

Everycloud12 · 26/02/2020 11:22

I would hope the queen would be more stressed about Andrew than M&H.

Roussette · 26/02/2020 11:24

Poppy that comment wasn't directed at you. It should've been to EveryCloud12. I get lazy tagging, apologies

Poppyfields21 · 26/02/2020 11:25

I think for the general public (who ultimately decide whether the RF stays or not) H&Ms actions are having equal impact to PA. I am not saying I agree with this, but am commenting on how it is being reported and what I hear discussed

Roussette · 26/02/2020 11:25

Stress does increase morbidity

Ahhh... so they're gonna be blamed then!

TheMustressMhor · 26/02/2020 11:25

They must have known it wouldn't have been as easy as just releasing a statement and upping sticks

Well, you would have thought so. Clearly, when the statement that they were going to "collaborate" with the Queen was issued, they hadn't actually mentioned anything about the proposed collaboration to the Queen.

That's how it comes across to me, anyway.

Butterymuffin · 26/02/2020 11:26

Laurie not sure it's being 'interested in painting them' a certain way to look at what search results show us. That does come across rather as if no evidence would ever be good enough!

PerfPower · 26/02/2020 11:28

Laurie, that was nice of her. But did she charge them lottery winnings type money to tell them how she felt when her father died?

Everycloud12 · 26/02/2020 11:28

They will definitely be blamed.

TheNavigator · 26/02/2020 11:29

Stress does increase morbidity.

Oh for goodness sake, they are in their 90s. If you are going to try and set up a blame game for their death, why do it on a thread about M&H? The whole Royal Family is a car crash of adultery, divorce and hanging out with convicted paedophiles. Two people in a happy marriage wanting to distance themselves from that crap is hardly the most stressful thing in Liz's life.

TheMustressMhor · 26/02/2020 11:31

They will definitely be blamed

Yes. They, and Prince Andrew, will be blamed if the Queen or Prince Philip dies in the near future.
