I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Rainbunny, it'll be interesting to see what they market themselves as Smile

FramboiseRoyale · 19/02/2020 12:28

Their titles won't change, but their style will, meaning they can't use HRH. I assume this means that they will use the style of a non-royal duke and duchess, but there is a precedent for Princess to be used without HRH as in Diana's case. It will be interesting to see how they sign their names. HRHs traditionally just use a first name; a non-royal duke would sign, for example, "Norfolk" and the duchess would sign, for example, "Georgina Norfolk."

If they thought they could get away with even parts of Phase 1, Dandy, they're more delusional than I currently think Grin. Long holidays in the US would have had the public and press clamouring for some clarity on what the eff is going on?

DivinationDandy · 19/02/2020 12:31

Ok holidays was the wrong word. Breaks then, or time visiting her mother. They’d still work on the charitable foundation.

DivinationDandy · 19/02/2020 12:31

And when I say long, three weeks say. But at least four times a year.

DivinationDandy · 19/02/2020 12:34

Seriously, spending time in the US ‘informally’ was do-able. Prince Andrew seems to have spent a lot of time there fraternising with teenage girls and sex offenders while being a working royal

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:35

Still don't think they'd have got much past Phase 1 or well into Phase 2 without lots of press and public speculation and the RF would have been forced to clarify.

DivinationDandy · 19/02/2020 12:37

Yes it’s possibly they wouldn’t. As I said, I’m speculating this was this plan regardless of how realistic in practice.

That’s the whole point here. We saw from their phrase “collaborate with the Queen” that they have a questionable grasp of what the RF will see as appropriate and will allow.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:38

Would the mental health documentary with Oprah, if it is with her and is actually happening, have gone ahead too? Why not with someone in the UK? You could speculate though that H&M did think it fine and that Oprah being at the wedding was a sign this was going to happen. It does indicate they had some of these plans for a long time.

They really should have indicated what they wanted and planned at the engagement or after the wedding. They accepted all the patronages and positions. It just looks unavoidable that they didn't announce it to use these patronages, positions and the exposure from being in the royal family to feather their own future nest.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:42

I wonder at what point the RF was aware of their long-term plans. Why marry into the RF to do this? I can understand M deciding this wasn't for me and for them to want to be low key and find something else to do but they just seem greedy - for money and fame.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:43

And yes I know they had fame in the royal family but they want adoration along with the fame on an international scale and in a way that doesn't just come from being in the RF - as being seen as heroes of something in a way.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:46

Saints maybe - a mix of Mother Teresa, Diana and Oprah - charity, glamour and wealth.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:48

Yes, a very questionable grasp on what the RF will see as appropriate and will allow. M I can understand not understanding but H? What does that say about him?

DivinationDandy · 19/02/2020 12:50

Well quite, annie, regarding what it says about Harry. I think Harry has to a large extent been allowed to do what he wants but is also pushing against the boundaries, albeit possibly with the best of intentions.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 19/02/2020 12:53

Diana only became a saint after her death. She certainly wasn’t one before.

Also yes Diana was Princess Diana but I think her title pre divorce was HRH Princess of Wales & post divorce Diana, Princess of Wales.

Someone hopefully will be along to correct me if I wrong.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:53

If you speculation is true phase by phase I'm just astounded at the arrogance or stupidity. From H more than M. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Rainbunny · 19/02/2020 12:54

This is probably uncharitable of me but I wouldn't be surprised if MM makes sure to come back to the UK for that single Commonwealth Day event. I was pretty sure it would just be Harry turning up but now she's no longer able to refer to herself as royal I'll bet she will make a point of attending to send the message that they're still very much royals.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:54

your, not you.

annielouise · 19/02/2020 12:56

Yes, it'll be interesting to see if they turn up for the Commonwealth Day event and Beatrice's wedding.

PelicanPie · 19/02/2020 12:57

I think that will tell us a lot, yes. If they do I imagine things will be VERY frosty.

yolofish · 19/02/2020 12:59

I also think H-as-I-call-him was allowed a free rein much of the time. But it's really hard to understand, given the fact that he is a grown man and has lived in that environment all his life, how he couldn't foresee the turmoil doing it this way would cause.

Or perhaps he did, and just doesn't care anymore, wants to be with his wife and baby and chill. Unfortunately they need money to live on, and she clearly doesn't want to chill.

7Worfs · 19/02/2020 13:02

Re princesses - non-blood princesses are Princess Husbandname OR Ownname, Princess of so-and-so.

Blood princesses are Princess Ownname.

yolofish · 19/02/2020 13:03

'Blood Princesses'... so much more important than non-blood ones! Grin

annielouise · 19/02/2020 13:09

Did they think the RF was a franchise? And they were going to open the US branch?

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 19/02/2020 13:10

Spat my tea out at that annie
