I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Bloody hell, it was in their stories so once you view it, it disappears. And yet I couldn’t view it as it wouldn’t download properly. FTS.

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 21:52

It's on the website now. This bit is fascinating:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a‘foundation’, but rather intend to develop a new way to effect change and complement the efforts made by so many excellent foundations globally. The creation of this non-profit entity will be in addition to theircause driven workthat they remain deeply committed to.

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 21:53

sussexroyal.com/spring-2020-transition/

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 21/02/2020 21:55

Isn't that a change of plan?

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 21:56

Looks that way to me tiara

Here's some more:

While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.

As The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to develop their non-profit organisation and plan for their future, we hope that you use this site as the source for factual information. In Spring 2020, their digital channels will be refreshed as they introduce the next exciting phase to you.

(They haven't thought of a new name yet..)

StubbleTurnips · 21/02/2020 21:57

It’s a U turn I reckon.

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 21:58

A new way to effect change? Hmm

Sounds like they want to be the new frontier.

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 22:02

When I copied that first bit, I didn't include the opening bit of the sentence but that's what's now intriguing me. That paragraph starts:

As shared in early January on this website, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not plan to start a‘foundation’, but rather..

So they are saying they had stated in early Jan, when all this broke, there wouldn't be a foundation. But if that's the case, why has all the talk about 'their foundation' been going on? Was that really what they said then?

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 21/02/2020 22:04

Honestly I don’t remember.... but the word must have been there somewhere unless it’s the Nelson Mandela effect...

Skybluepink123 · 21/02/2020 22:05

Why are certain parts of their statement on the website underlined? It seems quite unprofessional.

FiveTwoFaster · 21/02/2020 22:08

Oh they’re so cringe right now. Shut up! Why haven’t they learned to stop feeding the media silly unsubtle tidbits through crappy sources which then blow up in their faces and they instantly have to publicly back-pedal through Instagram. They’re so bloody embarrassing!

StubbleTurnips · 21/02/2020 22:10

Agree about the underlining.
I skimmed it, am I right in thinking there was some snark towards The Cambridges in there too.

NinnyNewName · 21/02/2020 22:11

The words are underlined because they are hyperlinks to other pages on the site.

I was Shock at the bit about William and Kate also trademark D&D of C.

LaMarschallin · 21/02/2020 22:11

Skybluepink123

Why are certain parts of their statement on the website underlined?

Aren't they clickable links?

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 21/02/2020 22:12

The words are underlined as they are hyperlinks. If you click on the word it gives you more information on each.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 21/02/2020 22:18

Oh dear. Teddies being thrown out of the pram regarding W&K.

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 22:20

I’ve not finished reading but have found one typo on the website.

... “which has understandably been a saddening for The Duke and Duchess and their loyal staff”

See it?
Let’s see how long before it’s corrected.

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2020 22:22

Just how on earth is this trip back here next week going to work? How are they all going to pretend that they're "much-loved members of the family" when all this is going on behind the scenes?

Where will they stay, for a start?

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 21/02/2020 22:23

I saw the typo. I used to proofread and it irritates me no end when people who are meant to be professional make errors like that.

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 22:23

Here it is on the website. I think it was put up quickly and not proofread properly.

Thread 18?
7Worfs · 21/02/2020 22:23

It's a complete U-turn, and this bit

While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.

is the most passive aggressive attempt of those two to be 'the bigger person' and take the higher ground than the Queen.

The levels of delusion are starting to worry me - the Sussexes are not OK.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 21/02/2020 22:27

No longer ‘collaborate’ with HM but to ‘represent & support’....

LaMarschallin · 21/02/2020 22:28

This:

While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place.

makes them sound quite pissed off to me.

As well as the reiteration about H remaining in the line of succession and:

While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.

Sounds like "We could use "royal" if we want. We just don't want to.
You can't sack us - we resign!".

I think they should have waited for the initial pique they may feel to ebb a little and formulated something less childish.

yolofish · 21/02/2020 22:30

flippin ell. TBH those links look like my blog, which given that I have done it for £36 a year and am completely useless - you would think Sunshine Sachs would have tech people?! eg I know that Freud PR in London have an entire tech/social media dept.

They really aren't very nice people are they? Or very clever either.

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 22:30

I agree ^Worfs* there’s a lot passive-aggression in the whole thing. Love the bit about the Cambridges.

Thing is though, if the trademark requests were done as a preventative measure and meant to lie dormant, which makes business & legal sense, why retract the applications? Why not keep them there to prevent joe blogs from using them? The Cambridge’s’ haven’t been used.
