I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Do we want this to be another ‘bun fight’? It can only become one if you throw the buns back. Just leave them in the floor.

This x 1000.

Hmq and pm were very attractive in their youth. Like film stars. Pm more glamorous though? Or perhaps dressed more fashionably?

PM was VERY glamorous, proper star quality about her.

Harry and Meghan to end use of 'SussexRoyal' brand

WinnieTheW0rm · 21/02/2020 19:36

I've just had a Beeb pop up saying they're abandoning Sussex Royal

Wonder what the new name will be?

rockingchaircandle · 21/02/2020 19:39

What noble cause do you think I'm sabotaging? This is baffling. I can't work out why I'm deleted for calling it out, and the links to Tattle are still standing?

If Mumsnet aren't commenting on this, it must be acceptable I guess?

I've not called everyone racist! I've commented on Beyonce as many posters have, only my posts were supportive. Its a shame some posters can't reflect on their motivations and who they target.Confused

7Worfs · 21/02/2020 19:41

A spokesperson for the couple said due to UK government rules around the use of the word "royal" it had been agreed not to name their non-profit organisation, the Sussex Royal Foundation.

An application to trademark the Sussex Royal brand has also been removed.

Very good.

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 19:42

So the 'all guns blazing' defiant stance lasted less than 24 hours. I guess the Queen has shit hot lawyers. Or their PR people finally told it to them straight.

Butterymuffin · 21/02/2020 19:44

If they use any of my alternative foundation title ideas from earlier in the thread I'll sue Wink

7Worfs · 21/02/2020 19:45

Seems it's not just HMQ, government is also an interested party and they are not onboard.

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2020 19:46

Not sure I believe the "all guns blazing" stuff.
We're talking the Mail vs the BBC, after all.

Whyamiwastingtime · 21/02/2020 19:48

well cant use just Sussex as it is a county. i wonder if wanted a different county to start? How do they decide the name..... off to google

derxa · 21/02/2020 19:49

Harry and Meghan to end use of 'SussexRoyal' brand Good.

yoikes · 21/02/2020 19:49

Stoke?
Southwell?
Sneinton?

yoikes · 21/02/2020 19:51

It's just one embarrassment after another for them isn't it?

They are either not being advised at all or being advised very poorly.

7Worfs · 21/02/2020 19:51

Scunthorpe, ofc!

ajandjjmum · 21/02/2020 19:51

I think they are maybe learning that trying to bully HM doesn't work.

TheMustressMhor · 21/02/2020 19:54

Ah well.

Meghan has had to toe the line, it seems. She can't just put two fingers up to her husband's grandmother.

The Queen has spoken.

TheMustressMhor · 21/02/2020 19:56

It's just one embarrassment after another for them isn't it?

It certainly seems so.

yoikes · 21/02/2020 19:58

Ugh.
It's all so.....tawdry isn't it?

Nanna50 · 21/02/2020 20:03

I think their advisers have been getting it wrong for a long time and it demonstrates how little MM understood the Royal family despite PH stating he had explained it.

Wauden · 21/02/2020 20:04

Respect for the Queen!

Alsohuman · 21/02/2020 20:05

My bloke had an altercation with Anne when he was a cadet at Sandhurst. He had to search the boot of her car and she really didn’t want it to happen. At one point she said “Don’t you know I’m a fucking princess?”. She then called him “An odious little provincial oik”. She still had to open the boot.

RoseAndRose · 21/02/2020 20:07

"Seems it's not just HMQ, government is also an interested party"

The government is Her Majesty's Government and they are formally linked. I suppose the US equivalent would be trading on 'President' (other than the formal usage for life of Mr President', which is established practice) without the consent of the current incumbent and relevant branches of government

7Worfs · 21/02/2020 20:09

Ah, but what was in the boot? Shock

ajandjjmum · 21/02/2020 20:10

That was what I was thinking 7Worfs - could have been amusing!

annielouise · 21/02/2020 20:12

Buttery, I hope if they do end up using something along the lines of your ideas, which have 'Sussex' in the name, that they do something to help the people of Sussex given the link that would be between the foundation name and the county. I've just Googled and it seems 32,000 children living in poverty in West Sussex.
