I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Can you really imagine Meghan performing, and not going for the full spotlight?!! Grin

FizzyLimes · 21/02/2020 10:20

Both of JBJ’s parents were in the marines.
Interestingly, Harry wants to work with US vets.
He deserves credit for all his military work. It’s a genuine passion, and I think losing his honorary military appointments would have been a big wrench.

I wonder whether he will see a Prince Phillip. It’s incredibly sad because they’re can’t be many years left where he’s going to be around, and Archie will never know him.
I think in future years, that will be one of the biggest regrets of his life; the loss of those years with his family and Archie’s lack of a relationship with his cousins.

Despite them being royal and rich, they actually seem to be a pretty close family. Autumn is going to continue living on the Gatcombe Park estate so her girls are still coparented by their dad and are close to Zara and her girls; who also live there.

How much ,obey is enough to give all that up eh Harry?

FizzyLimes · 21/02/2020 10:21
  • money; Not obey. ( but that could be another Freudian typo)
WinnieTheW0rm · 21/02/2020 10:34

He hasn't said he's giving it up for money.

He has said he wants to step away from the Royal role because that is not what he wishes to do, and that this is a settled decision reached after years of deliberation, months of discussions and alongside a wife who shares his values. He has spoken many times in the past about aversion to the press, has brought legal actions and has said that he will not put up with his wife being hounded (which makes him unlike just about every other Royal husband who has either done nothing or done considerably less).

I really don't see him happy in a money-grabbing role. I'd like to see thus turn out well for him, and of course that means with a flourishing family

The Entertainment lawyer has been spot on for years

FizzyLimes · 21/02/2020 10:56

alongside a wife who shares his values
😂
Is that you Meghan?

CallmeAngelina · 21/02/2020 11:31

"His wife being hounded?" What about if she sets up photo opportunities, as has been alleged with those photos of her dog-walking with Archie recently.
I think the world's paparazzi are far worse than the British tabloids. They were relatively protected here. Diana used the press to her advantage.

yolofish · 21/02/2020 11:32

blimey fizzy that site is weird as fuck!!

BrieAndChilli · 21/02/2020 11:41

If they genuinely wanted to love a normal life and so went off to Canada, Harry got a job as some military consultant and she did a bit of acting at the local theatre Or set up a kids drama school, the pubic would be so supportive, but they haven’t when they say a normal non royal life they mean glitzy celebrity do anything for lots of cash life which just has come across as money grabbing and disrespectful to the royal family.
I really hope that in a years time the buzz of them leaving the royal family will have gone and no one will be that bothered about them! Then they will be forced to live a ‘normal’ life!!

drina27 · 21/02/2020 12:12

We can but hope.

SussexRoyalties · 21/02/2020 12:33

Hazza will be on the scratch cards trying to win the money to pay the security bill.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 21/02/2020 13:01

Haha Sussex

Anyway I thought Daddy would be sponsoring for the longterm foreseeable future?

Rainbunny · 21/02/2020 13:03

I wonder how this will all turn out in five years. I think it's becoming more clear that H&M had been thinking/talking/planning on quitting the RF to capitalize on their activist starpower from the very first days of their marriage, if not before.

Removing the right to use their royal titles is not the most important hit against them IMO, They are well enough known to not need the royal prefix. It's that it sends the message that H&M are not a firmly embedded part of the RF anymore. They have voluntarily separated themselves and the RF have effectively closed the door behind them (with a vague olive branch offer to return blah, blah). I think that is what reduces their marketability in the long run.

This has all played out in the public and the narrative has gone the opposite way they wanted. Instead of a bold announcement garnering the sympathy and support of the public for them as victims striking out on their own, it has become clear that they have been seeking great financial opportunities and planning this for a longtime. They didn't discuss this patiently, they blindsided HMQ making foolish assumptions about being able to trade on their royal status.

I do not think this is a MM led action either, I think H has been pushing for this all along too. It's easy to imagine the various PR types who have been telling them how much money their brand is worth, so now it remains to be seen if they get the payday and the international status they want.

I know the media reports rumours and stories from anonymous palace sources all day long and most of it is BS, however I do think the anger of Charles, Phillip and William is very genuine and understandable, they've been painted as cold, hostile, uncaring and racist by the not so subtle hints and well placed news items favourable to H&M. It will be really interesting to watch them all at the Commonwealth event, lots of friendly smiles to be expected but their body language will be interesting!

annielouise · 21/02/2020 15:39

The DM is reporting that a yellow US school bus has driven past Buckingham Palace with PA's photos on the side saying if you've seen this man ask him to phone the FBI on this number to answer their questions. The Queen won't be amused. The RF are really in the spotlight and not for good.

Rainbows8117 · 21/02/2020 15:58

I feel really sad for the Queen. 93 years old, 68 years on the throne. And probably going through one of the most difficult periods with Megxit and PA, on a personal level not just the reputation of the RF. I just hope something doesn't happen to her in the short term whilst all these crises are going on. I do worry about how much a 93 year old can take under these circumstances.

ajandjjmum · 21/02/2020 16:04

Particularly as she cannot have the same robust level of support from Philip, that has probably helped her hugely over the years.

yoikes · 21/02/2020 16:04

I don't.
She is tone deaf where PA is concerned. Always has been
She has made several really poor decisions over the years (PM, aberfan, PD....) that show how little she understands her own family, not just her subjects and their expectations of the monarch.

annielouise · 21/02/2020 16:05

Yes, the past couple of years have been horrendous. Times are changing for the RF. Things can't be hushed up like days of old, people respecting them less and less and being vocal about it. Nothing can be kept secret. I don't know how they can survive long term.

annielouise · 21/02/2020 16:07

I feel sorry for her as a 93 year old woman. As a monarch, no. She has made bad decisions as yolo says.

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 16:23

I don’t feel sorry for the Queen either.
You reap what you sow to a certain extent.
Prince Andrew has been found dodgy things in various forms for decades.
We are in age where there needs to be more accountability for public funds. The RF has improved on this front, but there’s still a long way to go.
And I know this is petty & perhaps ridiculous, but I went off her rather when I learnt years ago that she told off the royal police protection officers for eating the snacks put out in bowls for guests, and then she started measuring and monitoring the level of the bowls. M
I know the snacks weren’t meant for them, but seriously, treat them to their own bowls and don’t supervise them like children when they’re protecting you.

I have an evil eye for anyone whose stingy about snacks.

ajandjjmum · 21/02/2020 16:33

Bloody hell! In a reign of coming up to 70 years, of course she's made mistakes. As my Dad always said, 'the person who doesn't make a mistake, is the person who does nothing'.

And as a mother, she is guilty of not seeing the obviously character failings of her son.

Easy to moan - but how many of us would feel happy about our nearly 94 year old relative having to work at all. Yes - she's got the benefits - but the commitment she's given is huge. It cannot be easy to have a Royal life - ask M & H! It's so easy to churn out the old 'they have a fabulous lifestyle'', but really? Every move, decision, outfit and day off commented on and dissected. Wouldn't be for me.

katiegoestoaldi · 21/02/2020 16:33

MM has come out all guns blazing according to a 'close friend' who's quoted extensively on the DMs website

This is going to get really ugly

DivinationDandy · 21/02/2020 16:40

Actually I take back some of what I said (not the big about snacks).

I feel sorry for her as a woman coming to the end of her life who must be under a lot of stress right now, and who probably misses not being able to easily see Harry and his family as much as she’d like. Whatever the circumstances, having an adored grandchild move away when they used to live in your back garden must be a wrench.

SussexRoyalties · 21/02/2020 16:44

Tell us more katie you can’t just leave it like that!!

SussexRoyalties · 21/02/2020 16:45

Bloody big back garden and you had to make an appointment to see her. She probably hasn’t noticed that they’ve gone.
