I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Someone I know (a teacher) has founded her own tanazania orphanage. She runs it on a shoestring but has sent kids to university some of whom are now teachers at the local school.

They could do so much more given their wealth and contacts if they really wanted to help.

The person you know sounds devoted to her cause. I doubt if the prince and his wife have the staying power. Look at the way her surprise “ visits” in Canada no longer occur...

annielouise · 20/02/2020 20:23

Exactly drina - they were to keep her in the public eye, nothing else.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 20:23

Meant to comment on this earlier - amazing work, I hope that teacher is recognised for her work.

annielouise · 20/02/2020 20:25

M must have written that fake text exchange. Even if H has absorbed her way of speaking to that extent he'd have said "I'm good, thanks" He would definitely have said thanks and then politely said "and how's things with you?" Grin

annielouise · 20/02/2020 20:27

I think those that do it from the heart 7Worfs don't look for recognition. I know a few people that quietly get on with things because it's who they are. They don't need a photo op of them trying to look winsome for every thing they do.

yolofish · 20/02/2020 20:28

It's not quite the same, but I set up and ran a charity for the last 3.5 years for no money, no fame for me. Raised over £200k. I've now stepped down for personal reasons, but I'm proud of what I did. Some of the gigs were less than glamorous, some were fun but not glamorous, some were absolutely torturous. None of them were on a par with a Disney premiere, nor did I ever ditch a previous commitment to do them.

yolofish · 20/02/2020 20:29

can people who understand insta please link? I cant even find my own DDs posts on there!! thank you

PelicanPie · 20/02/2020 20:32

I find that fake text exchange cringeworthy.
I think what makes me so cross about the M and H debacle is the waste.. they could have really done so much in a philanthropic sense and they’ve just made themselves look greedy selfish and venal. It’s such a waste.

FizzyLimes · 20/02/2020 20:39

For a long time, I used to think it was just Meghan driving this and Harry was just a sap.
Having read the Harry Markle blog; it would appear that a Harry is equally motivated by the money.
He has definitely changed from the loyal younger brother and funloving popular Harry.
I actually don’t see a divorce in the horizon now. Harry is starting g to enjoy himself.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 20:40

yolo I don't know how to Insta but here's an article with it, he's already mocked about it - click

The disclaimer that the exchange is not real is just priceless.

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 20:43

Well done yolo on your charity Flowers

The whole point of H&M doing stuff for charity is using their fame and status as publicity - I don’t find that problematic as a concept.

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 20:47

Oh and that Jon Bon Jovi post is very Not-OnRoyal-Brand, which I suppose is the whole point. They can be more “fun” with their posts now.

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 20:52

Actually I’ve just looked at it properly now that Annie’s posted and I think it’s quite sweet. Naff but sweet.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 21:01

Dandy did you see the disclaimer?
It's the made up part that makes me wince, and since it's made up they could've at least make it less wooden and more fun

StartupRepair · 20/02/2020 21:20

Very lame fake text exchange. I always feel Sussex target audience is teen fans and this confirms it.

FiveTwoFaster · 20/02/2020 21:34

The Bon Jovi thing has the same air to it as the Ed Sheeran thing he did. They can’t be actually cool. They’re royal. So they have managed to get some leeway previously. Now they have to play in the big leagues in North America, they will have to up their game! Can’t borrow HMQ for jokes about Obama anymore either!

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2020 21:34

Do teens know who Jon Bon Jovi is? I was a fan when I was a teen, back in the dark ages..

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 21:39

Worfs yes I meant to add but the disclaimer was oddly op-faced, or wooden as you put it. They could have at least put a laughing emoji after it Grin

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 21:42

Buttery I was thinking that about the relevance to teens. DH saw Bon Jovi play at a festival in 1983 GrinGrin

yolofish · 20/02/2020 21:47

Just as an aside, when I was very pregnant with DD1 we went to an Elvis Costello gig at the Hammy Odeon, seated in the circle to the side. I got up to go for a wee (as one does), and got bumped into by JBJ and his security team emerging from a box. They were all very polite, and JBJ was gorgeous, albeit pint-sized. I was like a bloody galleon in full sail...

SussexRoyalties · 20/02/2020 21:51

JBJ was tres sexy in Ally McBeal.

SussexRoyalties · 20/02/2020 21:52

Did JBJ have detectives yolo? Were you watching them?

yolofish · 20/02/2020 21:58

Yes sussexroyalties and I was also wearing a green shirt!! Grin

They were all lovely, and JBJ has a gorgeous smile. Mind you, if they'd have been stroppy one swift sideways move of my bump and they'd have been down like ninepins. Dont fuck with a pregnant woman who needs the loo.

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 22:07

Oh good scenes encounter yolo! I l used to love Elvis Costello. I saw him at the Albert Hall.
