No harm in having it ready for the next event/announcement...

It is possible that some people would tell such an OP that she was, indeed, attention-seeking
Really? So a woman says I cradle my bump and I've just been laid into by a bunch of women. And the posters on MN would call her attention seeking?
If so, MN has changed dramatically over the years. There's a meanness to it.

I, personally, would be saying ..your bump, you can do what you want!

annielouise · 28/01/2020 18:37

Jilly and Dandy, I honestly thought Jilly was making a joke about an ancient tribe in Britain demanding the land Frogmore was built on to tie in with the Vancouver Island one, which made me laugh.

I thought that as just before Jilly's post StubbleTurnips said something about paying rent on a mansion and I thought she meant Frogmore so thought Jilly made a joke about it.

I'm tired. Still laughing about it though.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 18:37

You definitely would think that, ButteryMuffin.

Perhaps it isn't true.

Roussette · 28/01/2020 18:39

In all my years here, it's been the only time I've known MN allow 15 threads attacking two people. I can only think the cat posts and I'm having cheese on toast for dinner have diluted it for them.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 18:40

Indeed. I wonder too whether in such an instance the OP would report repetitively, claiming "hate" to the HT/PTA leader in order to silence those PTA members who held that opinion?

7Worfs · 28/01/2020 18:41

The bump cradling photo that got removed on the order of BP was described as ostentatious.
If they had to intervene, you bet it was OTT.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 18:41

Oh, so would I. Obviously women can cradle their bumps if they want.

That does not stop a lot of people thinking they are attention-seeing, though.

And I would be among their number.

Jillyhilly · 28/01/2020 18:41

I’m not that clever annie Smile

Butterymuffin · 28/01/2020 18:42

Perhaps, Rousette, it's the counter balance of you and the posters putting the other side of things, as it were, that has stopped the threads getting deleted! How marvellous Grin

annielouise · 28/01/2020 18:43

The PTA is a voluntary role, you can do what you like with your bump. Presenting awards while working on behalf of the RF is different. You don't make it about you. It's unprofessional.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 18:45

Definitely unprofessional, annielouise.

And apologies to Froq for mentioning my supper - that was supposed to be on the other thread.

Roussette · 28/01/2020 18:46

There's a big difference in thinking it and the Mums there writing round on the group Whatsapp about it to anyone that would listen.

God knows what I was like with my bump(s), I think I've got a photo of me somewhere with DC2 who was a big 'un and I was shock horror ...cradling Grin

GracefulHippo · 28/01/2020 18:47

My chicken was better than anticipated. If only I had some custard for pudding

Roussette · 28/01/2020 18:47

ButteryMuffin You are quite correct on that....

Grin
GracefulHippo · 28/01/2020 18:48

Oups < scuttles off to hide >

Roussette · 28/01/2020 18:49

I picked PTA out of thin air.
Think... a big works meeting then.

Sigh...

mrscampbellblackagain · 28/01/2020 18:50

I think she cradled for aesthetic reasons - to look best in photos. I am short waisted like Meghan and it is more flattering in photos to do the over/under bump cradle. If I was going to be photographed as much as her then pretty sure I would have done the same.

I struggle to get worked up about it really.

TheMustressMhor · 28/01/2020 18:51

Seriously, Roussette I have never seen a normal, non-famous woman go around ostentatiously cradling her bump.

And I'm a midwife.

FramboiseRoyale · 28/01/2020 18:53

Amazing that MN have not deleted a 15-thread 'orchestrated campaign of hate'. You'd think something like that would break Talk guidelines to an extent which justified removing the lot.

I don't know why they have allowed the threads to stand. They have deleted threads in the past for "not being in the spirit of the site" for far less vitriol.

Froq · 28/01/2020 18:56

And apologies to Froq for mentioning my supper

Grin your supper gives you energy to post, ergo it is relevant.

The other thing that has been going through my mind (since I am an American married to a Brit) is how much Harry understands about the day to day of living in Britain amongst the hoi polloi like us. What people really think and culturally how things would be perceived. He's in a bubble, with lots of people around him likely reluctant to contradict him, and his judgement on certain things might not be what someone like Meghan would need it to be to guide her well on how the British public might respond to certain things. This added with maybe a reluctance on the part of both of them to take advice generally would be a toxic combo.

Yes to this.

Roussette · 28/01/2020 18:58

Well TheMustressMohr... I doubt I would have ever even noticed it if the Press hadn't been on it like a rat up a drainpipe.

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 28/01/2020 19:00

They're allowed to stand because they're not vitriolic and full of hate. You just don't like them and feel uncomfortable with people gossiping about her. That's fine and up to you but your personal wants are not enough for deletion despite the constant reports. If it was they'd get rid of them. It's a current, evolving news story and of huge interest to the public and especially people who watch the royal family. Threads set up just to slag Katie Price or Victoria Beckham off are not the same as observing and analysing a huge current news story that will go down in history. It's just silly to try and equate them. MN delete the sillier or more unpleasant posts but quite rightly allow the discussion. Quite why this needs explaining is beyond me. Interesting to see posts from The Pro Meghan side were deleted too though.

yolofish · 28/01/2020 19:04

I cant see the hate, mostly. Mostly what I see is people questioning the decisions of a pair who benefit from taxpayers' money. That seems fair game to me.
