No harm in having it ready for the next event/announcement...

Plus to be fair I think actual non celeb 'rich kids', have the expectation put on them to be actually 'good' at something? Be that sports, sciences, or the Arts. It seems 'celeb kids', get to fart about displaying their 'talents' for film acting (wouldn't make it to first casting without the name), blogging (never have anything interesting to say), photography (I could do better on my phone), social media influencer (seriously? Is posting pics of yourself on holiday groundbreaking), model (scout wouldn't touch with a barge pole). The only thing you can't shoehorn your way into is football, and that's only because it's blatantly obvious if your crap! And nobody's going to be daft enough to pay for a season ticket to watch Beckhams kid fall on their face at Wembley if they can barely tie a shoelace.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 03:44

I wonder at what age Kate and William explained to little George that he's going to be a King one day? If it was me, I'd probably introduce it organically - Daddy is opening a new stadium today - one day you'll do that too, because you'll be king.
Or do they sit the poor chap down aged 10 and say 'Right - sorry to break this to you, but you're going to be a King one day, so whatever notions you have in your head, just get rid of them now'. Shock

I would presume he has grown up aware of his fate in some small measure all along?

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 03:47

I have to hand it to Kate - she really does seem to be handling all of this very well! I'd be in a psychiatric hospital (not a joke) by now. Can you fucking imagine the pressure on you as a mother, rearing a future King? Jeepers.

I don't know, maybe it's all relative.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 03:51

To a small degree, I suspect Meghan didn't want Archie to play second fiddle, so her maternal instinct may have been instrumental in her decision to remove him far from the Cambridges.

I also wonder how Kate manages the three - older children are always bossy anyway, but how does she keep the playing field level for them, that they're not overshadowed by their brother? Though interestingly, in terms of monetary value of photos is concerned, Charlotte's photos command a higher price than either George or Louis.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 03:55

I think it's because Charlotte has a precociousness about her. I seem to recall her sticking her tongue out at the press? She certainly seems quite lively. Loved her little tantrum when they were trying to get on the plane somewhere, while on the red carpet, but Kate whisked her up and like some sort of toddler whisperer the child calmed down.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 03:57
Charlotte being naughty. Kate - the toddler whisperer
Lalala205 · 29/01/2020 04:00

DeTwamps I guess it's very different though. You would know your life way of life is what it is from the very start. Yes, normality is whatever you see growing up, but the kids face crowds and hanging about in palaces, major security. Tbf to the royals they always seem to have a 'passion' to distract from all the pomp and ceremony, be that horses/racing, shooting, army/naval, dog breeding, sports. I'd imagine you need something to focus on to stop you going insane. Especially when it's foisted upon you vs choice.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 04:36

Yes, but at some point, he's going to have to realise what being King means. Heavy is the head that wears the crown and all that.
I think the Queen has been stellar in allowing Charles to spend most of his life without that weight on him. I could easily see the Queen living to be 100 (please God) and if so, Charles would be tipping on for 80 before he takes it on. They do tend to live to extraordinarily good ages!

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 04:37

Lots of fresh air maybe! They do seem to like their outdoor pursuits!

Lalala205 · 29/01/2020 04:44

Hmmm, I'd imagine also the best health care money can buy helps a lot. And I've a feeling the Queen is hanging on for grim determination to try and bypass Charles taking the throne as long as physically possible perhaps? William is the next 'modern monarch', which the Queen was in her time. The royals know its precarious as it is without plumping someone with limited popularity on the throne. The Queens coronation was the major driving force to most families in the UK buying/renting a TV at the time, plus the street parties and general celebration to her taking the throne. Charles doesn't have the popular vote that William and Kate do.

DeTwamps · 29/01/2020 04:57

I doubt the Queen would think so unfavourably of Charles. I think she just doesn't want to put that burden on him. Lol - waiting until he's well past retirement age probably isn't right either, but they do operate differently to us.

StartupRepair · 29/01/2020 05:58

I think Charles will take the Throne no matter how old he is.
Re the poll a few pages ago, I would be amazed if h and m came back to the UK any time soon. This escape was months in the planning, apparently even if they don't seem to have many realistic plans.

Cuttingthegrass · 29/01/2020 07:25

12 pages already ...off to read what you’ve been discussing

katiegoestoaldi · 29/01/2020 07:44

Sorry pallisers, too late at night and my brain wasnt fully engaged anymore

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 29/01/2020 08:16

The thing that always haunts me is that barrage of clicks and flashes whenever any of them appear publicly. The children must find that so daunting. Clearly George does, Charlotte looks like she's got a touch of Princess Anne in her, can't wait for the day she tells one of them to naff off!

I think M loves that attention, it's what the actress in her will have dreamed of. It's very clear from her body language that she's completely at home with it. Harry is the complete opposite. How they reconcile that, and which one of them Archie will take after, is going to be interesting.

JulietJanuary · 29/01/2020 08:26

Too late to help Cuttingthegrass but for others:

Nothing has happened.

Save yourselves!

peaceanddove · 29/01/2020 08:27

Would you be able to share how you arrived at that conclusion? (If that's not too academic?!)

But rocking although you seem to think you are academically superior to the rest of us here, you don't seem to have any idea of what the phrase 'ideal chat' means. Good Lord, f you chat with your friends do you insist they present their sources and justify their opinion with empirical data?

peaceanddove · 29/01/2020 08:28

Stupid autocorrect, should be idle chat.

JulietJanuary · 29/01/2020 08:35

Idle chat versus ideal chat is quite apt.

JulietJanuary · 29/01/2020 08:37

And no, don't ask me to expand on that..

Roussette · 29/01/2020 08:48

peaceanddove it seems to me that rocking isn't allowed to question anything on this thread, without being rounded on. Sometimes, a person just wants to understand a statement, what's so hard to get about that?

Loads of times on here I'm thinking... WTAF, how on earth did you jump to that conclusion, why do you think that etc. But when 'we' come on here and ask, we're discouraged.

Idle chat or ideal chat... that means to me you can say what you want without anyone querying it. That does not make a discussion forum.

JeansNTees · 29/01/2020 08:52

DeTwamps Kate's parenting is spot on, every time we see something like that toddler moment. She is a natural. George seems to be the responsible older sibling and Charlotte and Louis definitely seem to be more....carefree Crown Grin

JulietJanuary · 29/01/2020 09:01

None of us have to respond to queries if we don't want to.

I start off giving posters the benefit of the doubt that they may be genuinely interested in another's view.

I have read the other self-styled positive thread. I think I can appreciate others' points of view without trying to get in there and drive discussion in my chosen direction. But my aim is communication rather than education, so crack on everyone!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 29/01/2020 09:03

Would you be able to share how you arrived at that conclusion? (If that's not too academic?!)

That was addressed to me peaceanddove and I didn't mind at all, it was a polite request which I did my best to answer and received a very nice reply. No issue here.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 29/01/2020 09:04

I think there’s a lot in that comment above that M didn’t want Archie playing second fiddle. I agree she probably wants him to have a background like Chelsey Clinton. I think she has big aspirations but not a huge amount of talent . The only way they can live the life she wants is to hustle , do deals, selll themselves in various ways. I can’t see that being Harry’s bag at all.
I don’t feel that Harry and William will see much of each other or the children. It’s a real shame. It’s clear M doesn’t like them anyway.
