No surprise there, then.

Do we think he'll hold out for the threatened subpoena or will the renewed public spotlight mean he jumps before he's pushed?

'Well done for shoehorning H&M into a that sentence!'

Grin

I never even mentioned them! But if the cap fits..

Anyway, you shoehorn PA in to Sussex threads constantly so I thought it must be allowed.

Roussette · 21/08/2021 09:51

It was just a joke Janiie
I thought we'd reached the stage we could joke with each other!

@Mummy194

Thanks *@Roussette*, I was not aware it was on talk too.

I note that the usual royal 'critics' who post about 60 times a day to tell us the same tired story of others being 'entitled' 'spoilt' 'not self aware' etc. are not posting as much, infact they are 'quiet on the western front' regarding Andrew.

Actually Mummy194 I’m posting on the other thread. I find PA abhorrent.
CathyorClaire · 21/08/2021 11:30

He's playing the long game. The lawyers have until December 7th to serve the papers. If they don't manage it apparently the case could collapse.

I'm calling a skulk at Balmoral until Christmas.

@ Roussette
“ But whilst he is with his mother, papers cannot be served, there's some sort of law preventing it as she is the sovereign. He might be holed up at Balmoral for a while! ”

I am not disbelieving you but I can’t track down that law/ rule .

Roussette · 21/08/2021 11:53

Oldbutstillgotit

It's something to do with 'sovereign powers'. I'll dig and delve and see if I can find it. Smile

Roussette · 21/08/2021 12:01

Ok... this is what I've found

It means that the sovereign cannot commit a legal wrong and is immune from civil or criminal proceedings. The Royal Family's official website states: "Although civil and criminal proceedings cannot be taken against the sovereign as a person under UK law, the Queen is careful to ensure that all her activities in her personal capacity are carried out in strict accordance with the law."

While the Queen cannot be arrested, other members of the Royal Family can be, unless they are with her. The law also states that no arrests can be made in the monarch's presence, or within the surroundings of a royal palace

At least that means he doesn't have to sleep on a put-u-up in her bedroom!

He might be at Balmoral for a while!

OverByYer · 21/08/2021 12:05

Omg, incredible. I guess that’s why he was driven to balmoral rather than flew, less chance of someone getting hold of him. Wonder if he went in the same car as HMQ?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/08/2021 12:15

Fascinating; I knew the Queen was exempt of course, but not that it applies to the rest as long as they're with her

And still there are some who try to insist "they're not above the law" ... Hmm

Roussette · 21/08/2021 12:24

Yes, it means that he needs to be in a Palace and not travelling where he can be accosted.
It is said he was driven rather than flew because of media photos, but I think it's more likely that he could've been approached at an airport but they can hardly flag the car down can they?

This is all very James Bond or Mr. Bean, take yer choice!

SueSaid · 21/08/2021 12:25

'While the Queen cannot be arrested, other members of the Royal Family can be, unless they are with her. The law also states that no arrests can be made in the monarch's presence, or within the surroundings of a royal palace'

That is such a shocking archaic law!

That said he doesn't need arresting, just questioning and his expert legal team will be advising him on how to proceed. I really doubt he is going against advice from UK lawyers involved.

Roussette · 21/08/2021 12:26

I agree Janiie he will be following the legal advice to the letter. He has an eminent QC on board.

No he didn’t. HM always stays in a lodge for a while before transferring to Balmoral after it closes to the public ( this year that was 2/8) . PA arrived early August after HM arrived at Balmoral.

SueSaid · 21/08/2021 12:30

'Omg, incredible. I guess that’s why he was driven to balmoral rather than flew, less chance of someone getting hold of him.'

Why would anyone 'get hold' of him. As has been said a trillion times the fbi need to actually liaise with the met, present evidence and if there is sufficient he would then be questioned.

None of us know why it has stalled, again if he is found guilty of crimes I'm as happy as the next person for justice to be served but for now, much like USA citizens accused of crimes in this country, it will be the legal teams calling the shots not the Queen.

Not to serve papers for the civil case they don’t

Not really, Roussette - after all they're both "fictional" characters

Whereas this you couldn't make up Hmm

Roussette · 21/08/2021 13:34

@Puzzledandpissedoff

You're not wrong there!

Yes, this is a civil suit. They have to personally hand him the papers. I presume his legal team are advising him on his options.

CathyorClaire · 21/08/2021 14:38

It's reported lawyers were ready to serve him at Windsor as he went horse riding but he'd already hot-footed it to Balmoral.

Lucky for him...

I think he was tipped off

I agree.

Roussette · 21/08/2021 14:59

But he can't stay at Balmoral forever can he? Somehow or other he will want to get back to London.

If the reason he was driven, and didn't fly was because he was afraid of being served papers at the airport, I presume he will be driven back too.

Cat and mouse....

CathyorClaire · 21/08/2021 15:37

Papers have to be served within 120 days which takes him to 7th December. He might want to get to London but venturing away from Mummy's skirts leaves him open to being served by lawyers who will undoubtedly be watching like hawks for any opportunity.

As I said upthread I'd be surprised if he's not spending a very early and very extended Christmas break entirely within Balmoral boundaries.

OP posts:
Roussette · 21/08/2021 15:50

Oh yes, you did say that and I'm inclined to agree with you.

But ... if he papers can't be served if he is with the Queen, could he just not travel back with her?
