Harry and Meghan Resigning (Act 6 Scene 2) Is Everyone Okay?

This is Thread Eight in a series which I did not imagine would last more than one.

Meghan's friends are now writing on social media that she has been fortunate to "escape the clutches" of the Royal Family.

We, who care enough for the Queen that we are appalled by Meghan's blatant disrespect for the Crown (and the family which embraced her) are still reeling as we go from revelation to revelation. This bizarre and unprecedented situation has unfolded over a period of just eight days.

We are now beginning to see what Meghan's likely agenda was. It seems that abandoning the UK was her plan even prior to the wedding - a wedding which cost the British people £20,000,000.

Not many people actually begrudged paying that £20,000,000. But some were prescient enough to say that the marriage would not last and that Meghan would abandon this country once she had a child.

She has. She has fulfilled those prognostications amply.

It was just rather...quicker than perhaps we had imagined...…. and a good deal more brutal. Cries of "racism" have abounded - cries which are simply not justified.

What will happen next? Meghan has gone to Canada, a country which does not seem particularly keen to foot the huge bill for security which her presence requires. She is dropping in on charities for disadvantaged women, almost unannounced, without the backing or knowledge of Buckingham Palace. It is cringeworthy and embarrassing in the extreme.

Prince Harry seems to be lost in the maelstrom of public opinion. What will happen next? Will Meghan announce a second pregnancy?

And is the RF okay?

Because Harry's name isn't Heg?
But, following in the recent style of putting names of celeb couples together, it would make sense as both are making their exit.

SerenDippitty · 18/01/2020 09:36

According to this it’s not Yuri Milner who owns the Vancouver Island house.

Butterymuffin · 18/01/2020 09:41

@crispysausagerolls sorry, I should have seen that! Hope you can be Ok now. Are you Ok?

Lordfrontpaw · 18/01/2020 09:41

Slightly too fuzzy headed to read that - so my highlights

Google camp
‘Likes to collect celebrities’
5th wife
Married model
Zillion pound house
Mates from way back
(Not all the same people)
Ooooh I really like the dress with the flowers (their hand holding looks weird)

What was I reading again? Where’s my cup of tea...

MangoFeverDream · 18/01/2020 09:41

the only media that reported on it was the bloody National Enquirer

The National Enquirer has broke a lot of salacious news; they were the first to report on an affair of a presidential candidate (destroyed his previous good guy image) actually all the other papers knew and didn’t report presumably because they wanted to maintain good relations in case he won the primary.

They also reported on Bill Cosby before anyone else

MarmaladeTeepee · 18/01/2020 09:41

I am far too invested in this and surprisingly ok about that fact. It's probably been said on one of the previous threads but here's my take on it:

  1. The whole online/media/public abuse. I'm not condoning this but are they seriously trying to suggest that up until she married Harry, Meghan had never been subject to online trolling? As a B-list celebrity on a semi popular TV show, surely she must have encountered some abuse, isn't this part and parcel of being a minor celebrity? Harry certainly did, all that speculation of who his real father is etc, surely he's learned by now to ignore what the press write about him?
  1. If they wanted an extended break why didn't they do like W&K did when they moved to Wales and W served in the air ambulance? They set the precedent, I'm sure H&M could have asked to do something similar, especially given PC's vision of a streamlined monarchy. Maybe H could have fulfilled his dream and moved to Africa, the palace could have given a conservation spin on it - royal protection officers also employed as anti-poacher rangers. H&M would have had a few years of peace (again similar to W&K during the Norfolk years) in the meantime PC would have become king and the focus would be 100% on him and Camilla and the Cambridges.

Hence why I am calling BS on everything H&M have said and why I sincerely hope they have their titles stripped, have to pay for their own protection and reap the consequences of their selfish and entitled actions.

Ok the wedding (jewish one ) to Trevor, Dad paid, and came and family ?
the next one ( church of england one) to harry. Dad not invited or family.

Actually i quite like the idea of pot as wedding favors should have done for the second one...

Whyamiwastingtime · 18/01/2020 09:43

or third.... ARgh

fallen121 · 18/01/2020 09:45

Morning Wink

fallen121 · 18/01/2020 09:45

Yes, I am ok, thank you

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2020 09:46

A secret child? Dearie me. Surely that would have come out by now?
Those pictures of where she was brought up were interesting. I don't know much about her background. The article kept saying 'poor' but she went to private schools. That's not that poor in my book!

It's true that Harry is leaving and not her.
If he ever does.

fallen121 · 18/01/2020 09:46

So PP isn't dead after all but we are all going to die of some weird virus from China. Lovely.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2020 09:51

I think I've got the virus today as I feel so tired and my face feels swollen and a headache. ( not ok )
I read about the Chinese one the other day ; sounds bleak to me but it might fizzle out!
They always report a big virus this time of year ; pig flu or some such.

Lordfrontpaw · 18/01/2020 09:51

But girls at school are getting free sanpro in England (I think they already do in Scotland) so that’s a win in my book.

peaceanddove · 18/01/2020 09:51

Our bedroom window is open and gave just heard our neighbour ask someone 'Are you okay?' Was it one of you lot

fallen121 · 18/01/2020 09:51

The article kept saying 'poor' but she went to private schools. That's not that poor in my book!

I went to an extremely prestigious private school and my Dad was a Lance Corporal. I survived on scholarships and bursaries my entire life but they only pay tuition, not nice clothes and tennis rackets so it's a bit like having free school dinners when none of your friends do. Sad

crispysausagerolls · 18/01/2020 09:55

@Butterymuffin

Thank you Buttery, I now think I can start to pick up the pieces and finally be ok.

CallmeAngelina · 18/01/2020 10:02

so it's a bit like having free school dinners when none of your friends do
Off-topic, I know, but the only people in a school who know who qualifies for free meals are the office staff. Regardless of who pays for what, the kids all come in and get their lunch, sit and eat it together, then bugger off outside to play. No stigma.
They are all OK and thriving.

DeeZastris · 18/01/2020 10:11

You can’t compare not having nice clothes/tennis rackets with qualifying for free school meals.

LaMarschallin · 18/01/2020 10:13

I particularly want to ask if @Lordfrontpaw is okay after I so badly misconstrued their posts yesterday.*

Obviously, I'm also keen to know if every other poster/lurker is ok, as I'd hate for you not to live, love, thrive and survive due to my not asking.

*Did feel really stupid about that because I realise it would take very little for this thread to be removed.
Elsethread I've said that I didn't think looking at the odd Daily Mail would convert me to their views. However, having the idea that everyone who criticises MM is racist drummed into me here has obviously made me over-sensitive.

We're told not to "troll hunt". Well, asking Lordfp why they'd used the phrase "Bounty Bar" would have stopped the whole mix-up but could have looked like a game of hunt-the-troll.
I'll be more cautious next time.

TheMustressMhor · 18/01/2020 10:14

Good morning, everyone.

I am okay but my breakfast definitely wasn't.

DH burnt my bacon and overdid the black pudding.

The egg was hard. I hate hard egg.

Hmm
OP posts:
SerenDippitty · 18/01/2020 10:17

Mustress I agree, a hard egg with a cooked breakfast is pointless. It needs to be soft so you can dip sausage, fried bread etc in it.

The80sweregreat · 18/01/2020 10:18

I guess it's my social circle but I've only ever met one person in my life who went to a private school. An old friend of dh sent his three to a private school but they became too rich to be friends anymore with so no idea how they got on!
The article doesn't say how Meghan was able to go to these places ( bursary or whatever) or if her siblings went to the same ones. I did read once her dad had a win on the lottery , but not sure about that!
Not that it matters much of course.
The news is a bit recycled today about them.
It appears to be dropping off!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/01/2020 10:21

A lot of journalists have retweeted DM Rebecca English working relationship with Harry

Given that he is known to read his own press, and this is a very sympathetic article; I wonder if the pros / royal rota are trying to stage their own intervention and get Harry thinking whilst he is still away from Meghan
