Previous thread

-Today Prince Harry is doing the draw for the Rugby League. (Not sure if it’s a public location but there’s bound to be a lot of press interest)

  • He has said he is going to stay in the UK for a bit longer to thrash out the details of “Megxit”
  • Meghan has been on a second surprise visit in Vancouver
  • Opinion coming out of Canada is that; not only do they not want to fund the Sussexes; having a member of the a Royal Family make Canada their permanent home is not acceptable.

She just wanted to get away from the RF end of. They are now saying she's told her inner circle of 'friends' that the RF was a toxic atmosphere that crushed her soul and in which she had no wish to bring Archie up. She's happy as a clam now because she's never coming back.

anomoony · 16/01/2020 21:13

It's a video of today's highly choreographed BP rugby gig overdubbed with a Stone Roses song which includes allusions to wanting to leave the country and burn the town the singer was born in.

wow. Just wow. They're nearing their 40's and they communicate via music videos on insta?

(not the point I know)

SunsetBoulevard3 · 16/01/2020 21:15

I think HM must be heartbroken. I’m sure PC and William are too. There is no way back from this. She’s out for good and poor Harry has been isolated .

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 16/01/2020 21:15

Meghan 'will continue making surprise visits to different places that help women and children. She wants to feel embraced by her community, something she says she didn't feel in the UK. She felt stifled and restricted

So she just wants complete adoration then. Righto. In the meantime who is going to embrace the community of women that she's visiting?

Wheresthebeach · 16/01/2020 21:16

Actually anomoony I think it is the point. Entitled, super rich adults behaving like spoiled teenagers. Its all there...the snipping...the getting their friends to tell everyone how they really feel, the whole 'everyone hates me, nobody understands me'.

God my 15yr old is more mature!

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 16/01/2020 21:16

He didn't look particularly heartbroken in that last video, I thought. The choice of music was quite telling as well.

lightnesspixie · 16/01/2020 21:17

'I think Meghan is actively trying to burn their bridges. I think she would rather cut her own arm off than return to the Uk as part of the RF. She’s setting it all up so she can behave like a victim. Harry then cannot ask her to return in case she implodes.
So much of this has been set up by her over time. Planning her escape and then behaving like a poor little victim so she can start her own life in the US. You couldn’t make it up.
I think Harry absolutely hates the media now and puts all the blame on them for hounding his wife out of the country. The truth is it would never have worked. She is not cut out for life on the RF. That was clear from the start'
I completely agree with this

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 16/01/2020 21:17

Oh sorry, I misread your post, Sunset.

SerenDippitty · 16/01/2020 21:18

I think Harry was ripe for the picking when he met her and never really stood a chance.

Nerfballs · 16/01/2020 21:18

Yeah you're right, we do get bored cos ya basic and utterly uninterested in anything but your own echo chamber pile-on.

For my part I didn't realise quite how angry I was about colonisation and WW1 until I came across a bunch of Brits on MN banging on about MM & PH "OMG biggest betrayal to/by the RF how awful devil incarnate poor HMQ can't believe they're going to freeload off us and monetise their titles Britain is ah-mazing we don't deserve this" blah blah blah as if they're completely unaware or unconcerned about the masses of utter stinking shit Britain and the Crown unloaded all over the world to further their own imperial aims and wealth which you all have benefited from. Still dealing with the damage here and yep, utterly pissed off by how up in arms everyone seemingly is over this small potatoes "scandal". You're doing exactly what you accuse MM of doing in Africa - absorbed in your tiny royal drama while people around the world are having to clean up the mess your country and Crown left behind. Pretty clueless and self-centered really.

Also couldn't believe the slut shaming over the burger video, the last time I heard it insinuated that a woman being sexual makes her a lesser person was at the Grace Millane murder trial. Decided to pop off at that point, better for my blood pressure.

Came back on for comments about Trudeau's "special monarchy" and instead I find pages and pages of snide high-school level catty remarks. Concern for the dog, really? I know many people who've rehomed pets before an international move. It's a normal thing to do and can be better for the animal. Ditto the ring resetting, again a normal and not evil thing to do. Scraping the bottom of the barrel much?

I'm going to pop back off this thread, can't be arsed wading through it all. Enjoy the echo-chamber - but just so you know, currently it's not MM showing Britain up in front of the watching world, but rather the public's screaming tantrum reaction. It's like watching toddler WWF.

Froq · 16/01/2020 21:21

Byeeeee 👋🏻

MissEliza · 16/01/2020 21:22

Surely the choice of song is just a coincidence? It's too awful to contemplate that adults could be so childish and nasty.

Froq · 16/01/2020 21:24

There are rumblings on twitter of another ANOTHER megxit announcement tomorrow.

ThroughTheRoses · 16/01/2020 21:24

Are you ok nerfballs?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/01/2020 21:25

Meghan 'will continue making surprise visits to different places that help women and children. She wants to feel embraced by her community, something she says she didn't feel in the UK. She felt stifled and restricted.'

That is frankly unforgivable. What a slap in the face to everyone in the UK, to all the people who put on their glad rags and traveled to Windsor to cheer them on as a couple, the people who sat on the grass outside the church just to wish them well. Their staff who have served them here. I remember the old ladies who stood waiting for her during her first outing with presents and flowers.

I am appalled. Genuinely disgusted.

And now we know what Thomas Markle has been dealing with. Poor guy.

OVienna · 16/01/2020 21:27

nerfballs
At what point, if any, would you feel that it was acceptable to call out this couple on their entitlement and class privilege? I am curious what your threshold is and actually if this features at all in your thinking about them.

Planeplane · 16/01/2020 21:28

For my part I didn't realise quite how angry I was about colonisation and WW1 until I came across a bunch of Brits on MN

Wow...if it's taken us gossiping about public figures to feel like that then you obviously don't care enough. But just so you know... I can pretty much guarantee that us British posters would have had ancestors living shitty lives in poverty and that none of us are directly responsible or responsible at all for crimes committed in the name of the empire. Most people here are just having a chat and most aren't monarchists and any patriotism is down to the fact that Britain is a multicultural and tolerant country. If we're going to talk about historical crimes then nowhere is without sin.

JulietJanuary · 16/01/2020 21:29

What's your thinking on WW1 Nerfballs?

Planeplane · 16/01/2020 21:31

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook

Completely agree.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 16/01/2020 21:32

@nerfballs
‘Slut shaming’. It’s one thing to make an advert like that (her choice of course). But let’s not pretend it does anything to empower women or advance the cause of women’s rights. She makes a huge deal of her standing on that, and she’s an utter hypocrite. That’s what we are objecting to. It’s like campaigning for veganism and then it turns out that the person doing so owns a butchers shop.
What has WW1 got to do with it or colonialism? No one is arguing Britain doesn’t have a lot to be ashamed of with regards to our history but that has nothing to do with Meghan Markle does it?
You sound like you have some axes to grind which have nothing to do with this discussion.

Teddy1970 · 16/01/2020 21:33

I can never take anyone seriously when they use the word "cos" in a sentence.

JulietJanuary · 16/01/2020 21:34

Random thought:How does People magazine know you are a genuine mate of someone if you offer them a story?

NumbersStation · 16/01/2020 21:35

Someone has been on the SussexRoyle vinegar sherry again then...

SunsetBoulevard3 · 16/01/2020 21:35

@CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook
I second every word. My chief feeling is one of utter disgust. If we feel like that, how do the rest of the RF feel?

SpinneyHill · 16/01/2020 21:36

I do love these people with fingers in ears and eyes squeezed shut

I will not read the court documents outlining how she shafted her dad in the same way she did the RF I prefer my own opinion which is that you are all bitches, how dare you discuss the RF as if they are an institution. I am so much better than you and I need to announce that

Yeah bye bye. Hope you're ok though Nerfy
