"Ooh twinges....could this be it?"

I wish. Think I must be a closet royalist as I am rathrr excited about this impending birth. Anyone want to keep watch with me?

yeh, I can't imagine it, must be torture. I got to 39+5 with dc1 and only got to 37 weeks exactly with dc2 which took me by surprise and wasn't very nice, but it was weird, when he was 5 weeks old there were people in my 'group' who were still waddling around and I'd settled in to a sort of routine.

Chubfuddler · 17/07/2013 11:47

My first was eight days late. It was miserable.

ihatethecold - I want more 'behind the scenes' gossip!

Me too!

I saw some photos of the Queens Yacht and was so so surprised. She and Phillip have their own separate bedrooms.on board and both rooms have single beds, even though the rooms are more than big enough to accomodate at least a double. And they were all doilies and mismatched mahogany furniture.

Im wondering if there are onoy certain rooms decorated grandly in the palaces and other comfy rooms full.of.holey setees and threadbare rugs.

She can't abdicate if she wants her son to succeed her. She may go into a semi retirement with an official or unofficial regency.

ZingWidge · 17/07/2013 12:22

ihatethecold

but that is excellent gossip! ( and I actually hate gossip)

keep it up...

ZingWidge · 17/07/2013 12:24

mort I snorted @ threadbare rugs!Grin

yep, they eat baked beans with cheese on toast in front of the tv watching Shameless and The Inbetweeners!Grin

(I fancy cheese on toast now)

IShallWearMidnight · 17/07/2013 12:25

ihatethecold - what's the goss on Edward? We "met" him last week at DDs DofE presentation, and he seemed a nice affable chap. Annoyingly it was actually supposed to be the DofE himself (he only does a few presentations now) and he's supposed to be fab at these things as in never know what he might come out with

Ponders · 17/07/2013 12:26

when Cameron visited her at Balmoral her sitting room was all doilies & knick-knacks. Very sweet Smile

Ponders · 17/07/2013 12:28

can't see the Guardian on the table. how odd...

(oh - maybe she'd been reading it & hastily stowed it under her chair when he landed Grin)

VivaLeBeaver · 17/07/2013 12:28

I'm fairly sure they have a pool at the Lindo Wing.....I have a friend who works there so will have to ask her but I think I've seen it mentioned on Lindo wing threads here before.

Chubfuddler · 17/07/2013 12:34

I love that she has all the monthlies and weeklies, including Majesty in her sitting room. If I was loaded and had the time I would have all the newspapers every day.

DuelingFanjo · 17/07/2013 12:38

Wow - Ihatethecold, can you imagine if they found out your DH was passing on gossip! Wouldn't he lose his job?

MissMarplesBloomers · 17/07/2013 12:39

Makes me roll my eyes when folks say "Why can't she go on the NHS"

Can ypu imagine the fucking uproar & hoo-ha & lack of privacy for the poor other ladies and families? The paps have been camped outside the Lindo for WEEKS already, it would be chaos and a real security headache too, as most units are adjacent to, if not part of the main hospital.

At least a private wing is just that & easier to isolate for security. I have it on good authority that one floor has been cleared and all clinics cancelled that usually use said floor.

Bet they've got 24/7 security on the switchboard on standby too.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/07/2013 12:41

Excellent gossip. I am sad about William becoming pompous though.

TheHandbagOfGlory · 17/07/2013 12:42

Ooh her sitting room at Balmoral reminds me of my Granny's when she was in sheltered housing. Loads of stuff and ornaments and magazines all over, bet its stifling hot too.

Jojobump1986 · 17/07/2013 12:42

Chub what would happen if she did abdicate then? Confused

ZingWidge · 17/07/2013 12:43

Dueling not if her DH is Prince Philip! Grin

Chubfuddler · 17/07/2013 12:44

When Edward Viii abdicated he had to do so on behalf of his children too (although in fact he never had any). So if she wanted to abdicate and had to follow the only precedent available she would have to do the same. Which would mean lord Linley would become king.

Chubfuddler · 17/07/2013 12:45

I am v sorry to hear William becoming pompous too. Perhaps it is just a reaction to more responsibility and he will improve.

Ponders · 17/07/2013 12:46

those were totally different circs though, Chub - would that precedent really apply?

He was never crowned for one thing.

Chubfuddler · 17/07/2013 12:47

No idea but I doubt she'd want to chance it. And there's just no need for her to do it. If she's too knackered she can semi retire and let Charlie handle the day to day stuff.
