"Ooh twinges....could this be it?"

I wish. Think I must be a closet royalist as I am rathrr excited about this impending birth. Anyone want to keep watch with me?

OP posts:
Chubfuddler · 15/07/2013 20:11

I think in the normal course of things the royal family would pretend a due date was later than it actually was (they did with prince William) but due to her illness in early pregnancy and the way it leaked the maths suggests her due date is only about today. She is mrs perfect though so it wouldn't surprise me if she actually managed to give birth on her due date. Some people do, but not many.

We'll have a prince or princess by August anyway.

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 15/07/2013 20:19

Glup but could be better for privacy!

98percentchocolate · 15/07/2013 20:23

Glup - getting excited now! What kind of unusual activity do you speak of?

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2013 20:26
Shock

\link{http://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/412676/Kate-s-decision-to-have-royal-baby-in-private-hospital-divides-Britain'Contingency plans have been drawn up, however, for the Duchess to be taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, an NHS hospital, if there is a medical emergency and she is staying at her parents' house in Bucklebury, Berkshire'}

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2013 20:47

Well, wishing her, and any other labouring woman, the best of luck

Meglet · 15/07/2013 20:55

It's strange to think that this baby will probably be King or Queen when my DC's are pensioners. That's if they have pensions or retirement in 60yrs time Hmm.

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2013 20:57

...or kings and queens for that matter

MortifiedAdams · 15/07/2013 21:11

I would love for the baby to be born at the RB. Kate will have so so little say over every aspect of her childs life that a part of me likes to think that she and William had been granted permission to deliver at the RB and use the Lindo as a cover.

OP posts:
MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 16/07/2013 09:47

Why does the Lindo never get mentioned on threads about where to give birth privately?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/07/2013 12:15

I think it will be a girl too (didn't she say something early on that could have given that impression ?) .... though wondering if the fact they haven't got round to changing the laws of succession yet might mean it's a boy.

Ponders · 16/07/2013 12:23

no

someone gave her a massive teddy & she said "I'll take that for my d..."

which was taken by an onlooker to mean "daughter" but looking at the teddy, it more likely was going to be "dog"!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/07/2013 12:26
Smile

Well, we'll see.

I was up at the Palace the other day and hoping for a notice to be posted up on the gates, but unfortunately I didn't get lucky ...

Any day now I reckon Thanks

\link{http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4826704/Kate-Middleton-drops-hint-that-she-is-expecting-a-daughter.html\there is sound on the clip in this but I can't make out what she said!}

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 16/07/2013 12:59

Ponders I also think she meant to say 'dog' and stopped herself in time when she realised they probably wouldn't take it well!

If they have found out the sex - which apparently they haven't - then I think they would be more on their guard than to let it slip out like that.

Just heard the Sky News description of what will happen when Things Get Going:
-she'll go to the Lindo wing and there are several entrances so they still think she might get in unnoticed (hmm. There are a LOT of paps outside)

  • Once she's there, Kensington Palace will issue a press release saying that she is there, comfortable (they hope) and in labour
-When the baby is born, the announcement will be put in a sealed envelope (top security, folks!) and be driven round to Buckingham Palace, where a footman will come out and display it on the Historic Easel.

I am enjoying this in very much the way I enjoyed the papal conclave earlier in the year (and I'm not Catholic) - it has so many arcane ritual bits to it! Yet unlike the conclave, it's an experience a lot of people can identify with..

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2013 13:01

Me too :o

TheHandbagOfGlory · 16/07/2013 13:07

Oh I'm loving it all too Grin

I saw something the other night when they were saying what Snazzy just posted, but they said the sealed envelope would go to the palace in a taxi. I just thought that was a bit strange, why would they not put it with one of their cars and driver? Seems strange with all the pomp and ceremony of the signing of the document by all the doctors and sealing it up to go to Buckingham Palace and go on the easel but to just phone a taxi? Why not go the whole hog and stick in the golden coach with a liveried footman Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/07/2013 13:27

As I mentioned I was in The Mall the other day and t'was very exciting to see several police cars speeding along with sirens blazing up to The Palace - but sadly seems they were on other business !

Still, p'haps they were practicising ?
Or it was Braxton Hicks !! Grin

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 16/07/2013 13:27

Handbag I think the word used on the report I saw was 'courier', which doesn't make it clear whether it's an in-house courier, as it were, or a contracted courier in the common business sense. A liveried footman is surely the least they can do! On a unicorn, preferably Grin

TheHandbagOfGlory · 16/07/2013 13:31

Snazzy a courier sounds better somehow, I had visions of them flagging down a taxi and saying "could you take this to Buckingham Palace please"
A unicorn would be best though Grin

They also said that it could take 2 weeks to announce the name Confused

PetiteRaleuse · 16/07/2013 13:32

They'e going to tell us when she is in labour? Wouldn't it be kinder to us all to just tell us when it's over with? I can't imagining labouring with the whole world on tenterhooks even more than they already are.

The Fail had a headline yesterday saying that someone Camilla said was the biggest indication yet that birth was imminent. Stupid headline of the year award (though in competition with most of their other headlines). Wouldn't the fact that she is 9 months pregnant be the biggest indication?

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/07/2013 13:34

Not to steal his thunder (no-one reads this site, right Wink) - but I heard the Queen has a helicopter on stand-by for Wills so he can fly into London (or wherever) and be with Kate at a moment's notice ?

Given the stylish going away car they departed in after the wedding I can just see him doing something like that ! Smile

< This baby is turning me into a right Royalist ! >

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 16/07/2013 13:53

Petite yes, the news channels have been repeating that Camilla's remark is the 'biggest clue yet' that baby will soon be here. Actually, the fact that she is now overdue is the biggest clue that there is probably a week at most now before the baby arrives, you twits! Camilla doesn't need mystical insight to work that out!

Handbag I hadn't thought about that, because all the Royals seem to have names settled in advance. But we didn't name DS for a couple of days and people got really anxious about it - I had a constant barrage of texts asking if we had decided yet, when all we wanted to do was take a day to two to be sure! I imagine that if W&K do the same the Daily Fail et will be in uproar.

TheHandbagOfGlory · 16/07/2013 15:33

Snazzy I remember what the Daily Fail was like when Chantelle from Big Brother took a couple of weeks to name her baby, they were mad Hmm so I wonder how they will cope.

The programme I saw said Andrew and Fergie took 2 weeks to name their girls each time and I think it was about the same for Diana and Charles. I do remember when they announced the Yorks names, I was quite young and loved Fergie Blush and I was so so disappointed with the names they used Grin

A bit like when my DD4 was watching the news and they kept saying "the Princess will be appearing soon....." And DD was sooo excited, only to be horribly disappointed when Princess Anne appeared, not princessy enough for Disney loving DD apparently.
