"Ooh twinges....could this be it?"

I wish. Think I must be a closet royalist as I am rathrr excited about this impending birth. Anyone want to keep watch with me?

Apparently the Queen will wait for the babe to be brought to her. Don't fancy a journey up to Balmoral in this heat so I think everyone's hoping he or she arrives soon. From the parking restrictions I calculated the 19th as a likely due date....

KittenofDoom · 18/07/2013 00:28

Not funny. Clearly.

ZingWidge · 18/07/2013 00:35

kitten

but what if she does think that? how would you know either way?

they are Monarchs after all, they will never think like the average/normal person does!
and strangest things have happened before in Royal households all over the world.

so for those reasons I found Mort's joke funny. I laughed ergo it was funny.
clearly

ZingWidge · 18/07/2013 00:41

and to save time I'll summarise it

  • no it wasn't funny
  • yes it was, it made me snort
  • no it wasn't
  • well I'm still smiling
  • but it wasn't funny
  • yes it was
  • no it wasn't
  • it was too
  • nope
  • yes
  • no

( ad infinitum)

MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 06:14

Grin Zing

I will cut to the chase. It wasnt intended to offend. OT was intended to be a little bit funny. Clearly we have differebt senses of humour. I apologise if it has offended you.

has anyone seen the live "baby monitor" the sun have on their website? It's fascinating *

*disclaimer: it is in no way fascinating unless you like looking at a closed door.

Zynding · 18/07/2013 08:08

I agree about the 19th. I know two babies due on the 13th of the month and arrived on the 19th! And both first babies too.

So tomorrow morning I pick up my phone and the 'flip' thing I normally ignore will have some real news for me as I open my eyes to turn off my alarm. Oh I love the modern World. Will that guy still bother with the placard ?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/07/2013 12:04

We're on holidaying Turkey and this thread is the first thing I check when I find a wifi connectionGrin

Much faster & easier than logging on to Sky News or the BBC website!

I will immediately know something has happened as soon as I see that Replies have jumped by 300+ since the last time I looked Wink

The power of Mumsnet....

OliviaP · 18/07/2013 12:07

My DH just emailed me this latest update on the royal birth. Nothing's happened! :) eveningharold.com/2013/07/18/exclusive-royal-baby-update-nothings-happened/#more-7001

Snazzyenjoyingsummer · 18/07/2013 12:42

Hearts I'd thought the same, it will be much quicker to look here than scan news media! Hope you're enjoying your holiday. I can say that without rancour since it's 27 degrees here and the sun is blazing down.

Zynding they must do the placard. It's Tradition. Maybe even Historical Tradition. Wink

Sterling you've made me think of the repeated shots of the Sistine chapel chimney, doing nothing at all, during the papal conclave. Someone set up the chimney's Twitter account from which it tweeted about being annoyed that pigeons were standing on it Grin Has no-one yet set up a Twitter feed for the Lindo wing entrance doors or something?

Pootles2010 · 18/07/2013 13:24

Do you think she will go to the Lindo? I reckon they've got it all set up so she'll go elsewhere, can't see Wills letting her go in labour in front of those millions of cameras. He hates all that doesn't he?

Yes yes they must do placard! I kind of hope thats the first anyone hears of it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/07/2013 13:30

There must be another way into the hospital, surely? They aren't going to take her in through the front door.

It wouldn't surprise me if she goes somewhere else though, the pressure must be awful.

Pootles2010 · 18/07/2013 13:32

know but the paps will all know about that won't they? I bet she goes elsewhere.

Also, whats with the disappearing messages? Did ihate's husband get hauled up in front of her maj?

MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 13:33

i do think she will go to her local hospital.

OP posts:
MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 13:35

I think shes asked for them to be pulled. Shame really, I love a bit of insight «open to PMs from ihate »

DuelingFanjo · 18/07/2013 13:41

I was due on 13th and DS arrived on 22nd.

Atomiksnowflake · 18/07/2013 13:46

Will they stick the placard up in the middle of the night,or will they wait until the morning?

MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 13:50

I would quite like it if they wait a good few hours before Wills even rings the Queen, "darling, this baby is Public Property; lets just have a few hours the three of us"

OP posts:
NomDeClavier · 18/07/2013 14:24

The Lindo is her local hospital! Unless you mean the RB in Reading...

MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 14:25

I meant the RB as she is currently staying with her folks

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/07/2013 14:35

She is in Berkshire Nom, not London. Don't blame her in this heat, it must be hell.

I went 2 weeks overdue with DS1 in July 2008, it was hot but not this hot and it was awful.

ZingWidge · 18/07/2013 14:40

what if she chose to give birth at home?

Pootles2010 · 18/07/2013 14:59

That would be brilliant zing but would she be allowed? All the security risks of rushing her in if something went wrong?

It's what I'd want if I were her tho.

MortifiedAdams · 18/07/2013 15:02

Tbf most other royal babies were born at home were they not? I thought Diana startes the craze for Lindo.

OP posts:
TheOneWithTheHair · 18/07/2013 15:02

I assumed she'd chopper it in. The paps can't see her on the roof.
