I just don't do the whole monarchy thing, y'know.

Anyone else?

"The only people who seem to be deferential are people who have some hope of meeting them"

Hmm not sure about that. I've met a few of them (not William or Kate) and I can't bloody wait for this wretched wedding to be over so everyone can stop gawping and get on with their lives.

Thank goodness I'm not in the UK, so am avoiding the worst of it. Think if I was in England I'd be feeling the need to eat my own head by now just to get away from all the misbegotten hysteria. Grin

Do you think the Queen feels honoured by commemorative blimmin' tea towels?

I'm in states at mo, they are really into this bloody wedding.

We're planning a day at legoland to avoid it all.

Live overseas so lots of us having big party....would NEVER get involved if back in London.....but being a long way a way makes it seem like a bit of a laugh, and an excuse for a pool party and b-b q*....maybe cos we have NO build up for it...or maybe its a sad thing trying to claim our heritage thing..........

  • or maybe cos we know its going to warm we just want a party Grin

Ooh! This thread has given me ideas...I kind of thought we would do sthg low key with the neighbours, watch it for a little bit, let the kids run around the estate and then have some drinks, but I actually couldn't really give a toss, and the idea that theme parks might be quiet has got me much more excited. I'm thinking Peppa Pig World!!

Mrsba, one thing this thread should alert you to is that the theme parks won't be quiet!

I dont think all schools are doing something are they? My sister said its never been mentioned at all at my nieces school, much to her relief Smile She detests all things royal, she wouldnt even come to the Kings Speech with me Sad

My friend has been in America for three weeks and thats all people wanted to talk about. It really annoyed her. So, it depends on where you are in the States and who you are talking to I guess.

Im not working although my friends are and not getting paid for it. I will probably go down to Brighton and do some shopping and eating.

I doubt if we'll notice as the tv has been hijacked by Super Mario Galaxy and my street isn't exactly up for mixing or even making eye contact. I am eyeing some nice plates in sainbo's though which are supposed to be for the RW but just look like pretty union jack/heart ones to me and I'm awaiting their price reduction on the 30th.

I shall be spending the day either being induced or caring for a newborn baby. Can't wait :-)

I'm going to work all day to avoid hearing about it. I like having a Queen, but I can't be bothered to watch them.

We're having a royal wedding bbq party. I just decided on monday and the union jack plates, bunting, chocolates and cupcake decorations arrived in the post today!

It's a good excuse to have people over and have a bit of a laugh (in the same spirit as eurovision parties i feel). I'm starting at 2pm so they can watch the wedding at home if they want.

There is a street party near us soi we will be going as we are rather broke and it will be nice to do something in the community and there will be a bouncy castle and face painting.

However, I will celebrate anything and just enjoy parties and things.

My DD's birthday and she is peed off as her company give them the day off fully paid as a bonus, she won't get another day instead!

Going flying with DH to France for lunch, we'll have to watch out for the flypast in our airspace!

alibubbles - what's not to like? Birthday off, fully paid, nearly everyone else off too. Hope she has a good day anyway !

My friend has obligingly hired a riad in Marrakech for her birthday celebrations, so I'm off for long girly weekend where we will toast our good fortune at not being anywhere near a television. I am trusting that the wedding tat will not have made it's way to the medina, but you never know and we will of course buy up any call to prayer clocks with 'Will&Kate' engravings that we might find...
