New tiny kitten

Hello! We have acquired a teeny kitten (supposedly 9 weeks old) but she’s the runt and is very small.
i haven’t weighed her, we only got her today.
We’ve kitten proofed the lounge and are keeping the dog and the other cat away.
She has one snotty eye which I’m cleaning every couple of hours with cooled saline solution
I’ve bought kitten milk and dry and wet food (the same as she was having where she came from).
Shes done a wee and a loose poo in the litter tray and mostly slept. She wasn’t interested in the food or water or saucer of milk so I syringed about 5ml warm kitten milk into her and that woke her up a bit. she then ate a little wet food.

are we doing the right things?

She's absolutely adorable and you've done an amazing job with her comparing her now to the tiny little scrap who arrived only a month ago.

Yes Merlin will lie on the bed too, gets a bit awkward when you want to stretch out and inadvertently boot him off 😯
Penny likes to wake up around 0500 and do a smelly poo then have the zoomies so that’s fun 😬

See if local cats protection people can help. Quite often there are lovely people who volunteer and will go around and help the lady - and educate. They will neuter the cats to try and put a stop to this backyard breeding and help with any cats who need a little help while they are in their care, quite often supplying things for the cats and a bag or two of food if things are looking tight.

You can also report the lady to the council as need a licence to breed and sell cats. Will be environmental health dept.

People don't realise the destruction backyard breeding causes to the poor animals and people shouldn't buy them. As soon as places like gumtree stop selling animals the better.

Awwww that is so sweet @Fatiguedwithlife ! Merlin looks so placid. One of our little kittens in the past would jump onto the elder’s back and be carried around sometimes and the old boy was so tolerant of her. These photos are just gorgeous. Thank you so much for them.

Also, it's lovely that Penny has Merlin who will let her chew him up and teach her the ways of Cat.
Cats seem to tolerate kitten teeth more easily than humans can, Merlin almost looks blissed out!
Many years ago, a friend's cat had a litter and one of them (a tiny tom) was very boisterous, whilst the others napped he would kitten-attack his mum, hanging onto her head. Eventually she had enough and sort of flipped him off her head then sat on him.
Apparently it's the way mother cats teach kittens boundaries and manners!
It worked, but there's no human equivalent (that a human could do to a kitten, I mean), but hopefully Merlin will teach Penny if she gets too feisty!

Awww they are so beautiful together. I love cats anyway, but this thread is really heart-touching.

@Davrosi would definitely recommend. Merlin is actually quite unsociable, he fights with all the neighbourhood cats but has taken a shine to his new little sister ❤️

Well, not really, but in comparison to how tiny she was, she really is enormous.
