New tiny kitten

Hello! We have acquired a teeny kitten (supposedly 9 weeks old) but she’s the runt and is very small.
i haven’t weighed her, we only got her today.
We’ve kitten proofed the lounge and are keeping the dog and the other cat away.
She has one snotty eye which I’m cleaning every couple of hours with cooled saline solution
I’ve bought kitten milk and dry and wet food (the same as she was having where she came from).
Shes done a wee and a loose poo in the litter tray and mostly slept. She wasn’t interested in the food or water or saucer of milk so I syringed about 5ml warm kitten milk into her and that woke her up a bit. she then ate a little wet food.

are we doing the right things?

The vet says they spay at 4-6 months which seems very young, no?

I know from the Cat Protection website they neuter females at four months , probably depends on the weight of the cat .
They need to weigh up the risk of Surgery/Pregnancy .

They are fertile at such a young age and the chance of her getting out if she tailgates Merlin. Plus you don't want a load of yowling stinky spraying Toms in the garden when they get a whiff of a fertile queen!

On the subject of spaying , I hope Penny's Ex Owner has got the MumCat spayed by now !

Our founding kittens were spayed and neutered February last year at 5.5 months. I left them this late as they had very poor start. Also as it was February, they were happy inside still. My only worry was as they were brother and sister, but we kept a close eye on them for and behavioral signs. All went very well and they are a pair of little fatties now.

My friend's cat got pregnant at 6 months, friend was certain she couldn't get pregnant that young....5 beautiful kittens later.....(This happened 15 years ago so no pictures of the kittens sadly! They all went to good homes, at about 3 months old)

I love her patchwork markings. We are desperate for Marmite to sit on our laps, we’ve had her 6 months but she’s still reluctant 😿
