Missing Cat - Any Happy Outcomes?

My cat has been missing for 8 days now. He's the sweetest and gentlest fella. We've done the FB threads, knocking on neighbours, flyering. Going to deliver some more today. Walked around calling. Looked for his body on main roads. Etc. I know there are a lot of threads on this topic. I'm just feeling so sad and would love to hear positive stories. We lost a cat on the road a couple of years ago and this actually feels worse. Thanks for listening.

Thank you for the support

I hope you both have good news really soon 🥰

Snozzlemaid · 15/10/2025 06:05

How pushy do you think we can be with close neighbours?
Do you think it’s okay to revisit them and ask to check their gardens etc ourselves?
She has only ever gone to our direct neighbours garden and doesn’t venture out to the front of our houses.
We’re convinced she’s not far from home but is shut in somewhere. She’s just not an adventurous type who would wander off a long way.
I have spoken to all close neighbours and they have all said they will check for us, but how do
I know they have?

Springroll89 · 15/10/2025 09:30

@Snozzlemaid I searched 4 garages myself by asking. I didn't search the ones where I felt I trusted them to look and they clearly got it. I asked another who was pretty firm that she had checked and I didn't feel I could push it further. I couldn't get hold of some people even going round a few times. I'd say be as pushy as you feel you can be. I'm so sorry for your distress. I know what it feels like. I haven't reached acceptance yet (as I hear so many stories of them coming back after many months or even years) but I'm not as frantic as I was. I think now is the time for you to be pushy though.

Have you called the vets and animal rescue places? Plus the local council about any animals that have been picked up from the road? (Sorry). I called vets over a large area - maybe 20 of them. Many many of them had positive stories for me. I still get them. I haven't given up hope but I am trying to be more accepting about my situation. It's been 8 1/2 weeks for us though.

Sending prayers and love x

Thank you @Springroll89I so wish your fluffy one would come home soon. I’m not sure at what point you come to terms with it. But good to know this feeling will ease a little. I feel sick with worry today as I know she won’t survive much longer now if she no access to water 🥺
I’m going to ask next door to have a look myself, as theirs is the only place we know she would venture to. The other side has a dog so she stayed away from there.
And I have new flyers to post through doors again if people not home to let them know she’s still missing and beg them to really check and maybe leave shed or garage doors open for a bit in case she’s well hidden.
Daughter is laminating some posters to put up on lamp posts later today too.
I’ve spoken to lots of vets but not council as yet. That’s on my list for today also. Better to have an answer even if not good news at this point.

Praying that we all have good news soon xx

Springroll89 · 15/10/2025 12:08

@Snozzlemaid about water, I've heard a lot of stories of cats surviving even for a couple weeks in a wardrobe without water. Plus that if they're in a garage or similar if any rain gets in at all/condensation on metal walls etc, they find it and use it. 🤞 🙏

I keep reading your updates hoping for a positive outcome. Fingers crossed you get one soon.

I found that even if the hundredth walk felt pointless, it got me out of the house and doing something. Refreshing the posters, new Facebook posts, not just the old ones with an update, kept me busy. I was like a woman possessed but I knew it was out of character for her and I knew I had to keep her fresh in people's minds (some people don't always read Facebook so a new post made it to the top of their page). I live in a great community, and it was the community who got her home to me.

Never give up hope. I know it's easy to say. Cats are clever things, mine found a house with a nice family who spotted her and then saw my Facebook post and contacted me. I had her back home 4 days later.

Snozzlemaid · 15/10/2025 13:15

Oh my!! We’ve found her!!
Shut in our neighbour’s garage. They were out and I went right up to the door and called and I heard the tiniest meow.
I rang them and they were so good to come right home and there she was.
She’s had a belly full of food and is now wandering around like she can’t believe she’s home.

Thank you for your support over the last few days. I sincerely hope you get some news soon as well.
I will keep a close eye on on this thread for updates.

@Springroll89 6 weeks (well a couple of days shy of 6 weeks). She's currently running around like a lunatic.

Snozzlemaid · 15/10/2025 20:21

@xSideshowAuntSallyXxDo you let yours out again after she returned. I can’t imagine letting my girl outside ever again.

Brilliant news. Daphne here is pleased to hear it.

Sorry, picture didn’t do.

She's confined to the garden but as she's not a climber she doesn't go far.

UndoRedo · 16/10/2025 04:11

After my cat was found locked in a house for 5 days, I got him a tracker. On the first anniversary of going missing he didn't come home one evening - because of the tracker I was able to walk up to a local house and ask them to open their shed as he had got himself locked in it 🤦

Snozzlemaid · 16/10/2025 09:56

That’s good to know @UndoRedo
We are considering a tracker for her. Not sure how it would go though as she doesn’t wear any collar at the moment. So she may not be too pleased with it.
Can you recommend any in particular?

takingcareofme2023 · 16/10/2025 12:08

Delighted for you @Snozzlemaid xxx
If my kitty ever comes back I would like to get a tracker.

Snozzlemaid · 20/10/2025 13:49

Dcat is now wearing a collar and AirTag. Not that I’ve let her out just yet. She didn’t care when we put the collar on her and no reaction when I added the tag today.
Gives me peace of mind we’ll find her quicker if she gets shut in anywhere again.

Still have everything crossed for the safe return of your kitties really soon 🥰

Springroll89 · 21/10/2025 07:51

Let us know how it goes with the tracker @Snozzlemaid I have other cats and I haven't put collars and trackers on them. I just find that they hate collars so much. It would be worth it not to be going through this though.

I don't know about you @takingcareofme2023 but my mood about this changes so much. Feeling pretty down about it today. It's hard when you can't get "closure" isn't it 😢
