I have lost my cat inside the house

I am working from home and my cat was sleeping on the bed, the sun was shining through the window and she was lay in a patch of sun. I left her there while I put a wash on and ate some food. I came back upstairs and she wasn’t on the bed anymore. I assumed she had to just moved to one of her other spots, but when I eventually got up to look for her I couldn’t find her. I have looked around everywhere 3 times now. Shouting her name, shaking her food, looking inside the wardrobes and under the couches etc. I just have no idea where she is! It has been nearly 3 hours I am so confused

When mine was missing like that she'd was hiding inside the sofa. She has irritable bowel and sometimes the symptoms flare up. I think her stomach was hurting and she was frightened so just hid.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/05/2025 17:09

Any drawers you opened but didn’t close for a bit?

BlokeHereInPeace · 14/05/2025 17:11

Open some food.

FetidMoppet · 14/05/2025 17:11

Mine have hidden inside wardrobes, in an under the bed drawer, in kitchen cupboards, under the duvets on beds.
We had one that would perch on top of doors, or up on top of kitchen cabinets.
We have a TV cabinet with a slot for a DVD player, one likes to get in there and hide right at the back.

AddictedToBooks · 14/05/2025 17:13

One of my cats did this once - he's crawled behind a partially open drawer underneath the bed and was in the bed base.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions, I have opened every single cupboard and drawer and looked on top and underneath everything. I can’t find her 😢 I’m panicking I don’t understand

I once couldn't find my cat. She'd crept inside the duvet cover on our bed and was quite happily ensconced inside it, hanging at the side of the bed! Any chance she's gone under the floorboards, or hiding inside a cushion cover (or duvet cover!?)

rosydreams · 14/05/2025 17:16

Its like when my sister came to visit .Cheddar vanished ,she stayed the night and he vanished for three days before emerging. My poor cat obsessed sister could not work out were he was hiding either hahaha

Just suddenly appeared seemingly out of the void ,they just know how to hide

UpsideDownChairs · 14/05/2025 17:19

When girlcat was a kitten I thought I'd lost her (even more confused as she had a cone on having been recently neutered

She'd crawled through a little gap under my son's bed and fell a sleep - I lost her in the morning, and then in the evening I finally heard a scrabbling from under his bed and out she popped, all sleepy.

Init4thecatz · 14/05/2025 17:21

Ours managed to find her way behind an oak dresser (the big ones from Oak Furniture Land)... a gap of literally a few cm around the back, and then she hid out in the gap underneath it.

She was due a trip to the vets, so an absolutely intended hide.

The only way we managed to get her out was a vacuum cleaner at one end... she shot out like a cork!

Gettingbysomehow · 14/05/2025 17:22

Just found my old cat hiding under the scrunched up sofa blanket. I almost sat on her.

Mandoid · 14/05/2025 17:22

If mine's MIA she's either

In the wardrobe
In the garage - she's gone through the internal door when I had it open for a sec, and she'll probably be curled up in my baby's old pram cot
on a dining chair/office chair that's tucked under a table/desk

if none of those it's time for a dreamies shake

gl op

RainbowSlimeLab · 14/05/2025 17:24

She’ll turn up. She’s just hot and sleeping somewhere cool. Have the Dreamies come out yet?

MrsCatE · 14/05/2025 17:31

Was you're washing in a Hamper? Did you put some stuff out ready for next wash that cat could be curled up in, happy as Larry? Best way wishes and hopefully come dinner time a sleepy, sun warmed cat will turn up, yawn eat grub, turn around and pad off for some more well deserved kip. Best wishes.

Igmum · 14/05/2025 17:34

Hope you’ve found her. Our DGirlCat is adept at finding the tiniest of hidey places all over the house. Dreamies can generally make her magically materialise.

SabrinaThwaite · 14/05/2025 17:34

Did you check inside all the kitchen cupboards? I’ve spent hours looking for one to find her curled up in a corner cupboard.

Once found ours camouflaged in a pile of cuddly toys on DC’s bed - she was lucky not to get bounced on.

EachandEveryone · 14/05/2025 17:43

It’s too early to worry. Wait while tonight when it’s her feed time she will just appear.

CrepuscularCritter · 14/05/2025 17:56

Last time I lost both of mine, they had got stuck on to of a wardrobe. I've also found them impersonating the bottom edge of a pillow in a freshly changed bed. I hope yours turns up soon.

diningiswest · 14/05/2025 17:58

No3392 · 14/05/2025 16:17

Yep, came to say the same. Mine have done this to me.

And mine

Bobbydazz · 14/05/2025 18:05

Ours jumped into the ottoman part of our bed unnoticed when we briefly had it open. He was happily "missing" for hours

cherrytree12345 · 14/05/2025 18:08

Our previous cat pulled the drawer under the bed open and went into the void under the bed between the drawers. This became her regular favourite spot, we just had to remember not to trip over the open drawer in the night

bunchofsunflowers · 14/05/2025 18:14

Another one for inside the sofa, we had a sofa bed with space underneath the cat somehow crawled inside of and hid. Took about 6 hours to figure it out, I was sure he’d somehow got out!

SomethingWycked · 14/05/2025 18:17

Our neighbours indoor cat went missing, assumed to have gotten out somehow. We helped them search outside while they searched inside, this went on for a few hours, we could hear them calling her in the house.
She was curled up asleep at the bottom of the bed inside the duvet. Although they had pulled the duvet back to see if she was in the bed, they did not take it off.

PrincessSakura · 14/05/2025 18:31

Have you checked on top of the fridge/kitchen cupboards? I lost my cat once for hours m, she was curled up above the kitchen cabinets, completely ignored all of calls and food rattling!

Nootellaontoast · 14/05/2025 18:32

I found her! I walked upstairs and she was suddenly just on the landing but she was covered in fluff. Someone on here has commented asking me if she could be under the floorboards…. Actually we have recently ripped the carpet up in the bedroom as we are getting a new one fitted and there is a hole in the floor. But I wouldn’t have thought she could fit in it. If I knew she was in there I would have had a breakdown thinking she was stuck so if that’s where she was I’m glad I didn’t know… I have now covered the hole with something so she can’t get back in

Oh and she went missing inside the sofa! Managed to rip a hole in the lining, it became one of her favourite spots until we patched it up,
