I am working from home and my cat was sleeping on the bed, the sun was shining through the window and she was lay in a patch of sun. I left her there while I put a wash on and ate some food. I came back upstairs and she wasn’t on the bed anymore. I assumed she had to just moved to one of her other spots, but when I eventually got up to look for her I couldn’t find her. I have looked around everywhere 3 times now. Shouting her name, shaking her food, looking inside the wardrobes and under the couches etc. I just have no idea where she is! It has been nearly 3 hours I am so confused

she will just appear I think and I don’t think you will know where she was.
Thinking of you I know it’s horrible feeling xx

outforawalkb · 14/05/2025 15:57

I lose mine often in a 2 bed apartment, then suddenly he just appears
he’s black which doesn’t help

Gettingbysomehow · 14/05/2025 15:59

Mine have a secret portal to another dimension. I honestly don't know how they do it.

Try inside the settee.

This is where our cat has been known to hide as well.

BruceAndNosh · 14/05/2025 16:02

Ours found a gap underneath a recliner chair. I didn't think there was enough room.
Other places.... Tiny gap behind tumble dyer, ledge 12 inches up chimney, bottom of wardrobe behind tall pair of riding boots. Behind hot water cylinder

@Nootellaontoast
Shake a packet of Dreamies. Would definitely work with my 2.
i hope you find her soon.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 14/05/2025 16:10

If she couldn´t have got out then she´s just ignoring you and will reappear when she´s ready. Mine has done similar and scared the crap out of me.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 14/05/2025 16:10

Hope you find her 🥺 x

I'm sure she's just hiding somewhere cool - sometimes my dcat does that and ignores me when i scream for her

Luckypoppy · 14/05/2025 16:13

Recliner chair? Under the covers on a bed? Top of wardrobe? Behind bath panel?

123feraverto · 14/05/2025 16:15

Cats find all sorts of weird places ,
check any clothes laying out - found her coiled in my jumper once , boxes , bags

hope she shows you her secret place though!

My brother's cat used to sleep on a dining chair under the tablecloth, so became invisible for all intents and purposes. My cat would get inside the sofa bed workings, terrifyingly.

Also don't forget that cats can also move between dimensions at will, and she will undoubtedly rematerialise in the middle of the living room just as mysteriously.

Try inside the settee.

Yep, came to say the same. Mine have done this to me.

ALittleBitWooo · 14/05/2025 16:19

The last time my cat went missing in the house I found her inside the duvet cover.

RockahulaRocks · 14/05/2025 16:20

Have you looked under the smallest gap that you’d never expect a cat to squeeze into? A friend and I have both “lost” cats, mine was under DD’s cot which must have been a 2 inch gap, and my friend lost hers under or behind a wardrobe. Again, didn’t look like a realistic sized hiding place until she’d plastered it all over the street WhatsApp and got search parties underway, and out he sauntered.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 14/05/2025 16:21

I see you have check the drawers - we had one meowing - DH claimed I was mishearing as she stopped when she heard people - she got behind the counters by getting in a draw and forcing the back off so she could get under cabinates.

Though they regular disappear - just means they've found a new sleeping spot we haven't yet found - bed cupboard behind soafs on top of fridge in cupboard goes down hole on top.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 14/05/2025 16:23

We did once find one under a sofa in kids room - old one inch or so off ground - she was flat under there could only see with torches didn't want to come out till she was ready.

dollyblue01 · 14/05/2025 16:23

When I had a stray for a bit she got behind a drawer in the kitchen, can’t believe how agile they are.
Hope you find her soon.

Flyswats · 14/05/2025 16:24

We lost our cat inside a drawer full of soft clothes for about 3-4 hrs once. She had climbed in and we'd not noticed and shut it. When we opened it she was curled up, happy as Larry. Not inclined to get out.

could something like this have happened?

Leeds157 · 14/05/2025 16:36

Find a sound on YouTube or TikTok with the description “make your cat cuddle you” or “would your cat help a kitten” may draw them out

Roundaboot · 14/05/2025 16:44

We joke that one of our cats has access to a secret wormhole as she will just vanish inside the house. We can be looking and calling her for ages, then walk into a room and she'll just be sitting there like she's just materialised out of thin air!

This must be very worrying for you though OP. If your 100% sure she couldn't have got out she must be somewhere in the house. Have you tried all drawers and wardrobes, and pulled all clothes out? Washing basket?

birdglasspen · 14/05/2025 16:52

I lost a kitten once it had gone inside the duvet. I’d looked under duvet …poor thing must have been flung up in air. Eventually thought to look inside it!

CoastalCalm · 14/05/2025 17:03

Ours got down the back of the gas fire once - she was missing for hours and it was only when I noticed one of the fake coal things had fallen that we got the phone in , took a photo and yep there she was

NotAntisocialJustAllergicToNonsense · 14/05/2025 17:04

Has she appeared yet op?

gamerchick · 14/05/2025 17:05

Open a tin of tuna. Mine can smell that stuff from the other end of the house.

Yep another of ours was missing for most of the day and we searched everywhere inside and outside despite her being an indoor cat - there was nowhere we didn’t check and I was just about to head out again and I turned to see her nonchalantly sitting licking her paws in the middle of the hallway - little shit
