What perfectly ordinary places have you found your cat?

I’ve just spent 30 minutes searching my entire house for one of my cats, even looking in the bedrooms that have doors closed and couldn’t find him anywhere.

And then I found him here, in the little house on the cat tree 🤦🏼‍♀️

@EmpressaurusKitty that under-the-crocheted-blanket is seriously good hiding. I'd not have spotted that.

123feraverto · 12/12/2024 21:17

In an Ocado carrier bag filled with other Ocado carrier bags , curled up in a little kitty ball fast asleep

Stormyweatheroutthere · 12/12/2024 21:21

Intrigued to know if some posters chose the dcat for it's colour or to match the furniture and disguise the hair... Or the furniture after the dcat came along?

I only realised when I was picking something up from the floor & the blanket was at eye level.

Not my cat, but I saw this earlier and thought of this thread 😁

In the heated airer between layers of tops.

In toy boxes tucked away on shelves.

In a kitchen cupboard in a roasting tin when dh left the cupboard door ajar.

Our old cat used to hide in top of high appliances so he could claw your head when you walked past. I miss the little scrote.

swampusdonkus · 12/12/2024 22:18

In the hat basket...looking very uncomfortable.
In a box pre-moving house.
We are forever mistaking the cushion for her, and vice versa.
Camo cat extraordinaire x

Where is the cat!

Wish I still had the photo of our dearly departed ginger cat with his adorable little face poking out of the sleeve of my husband's shirt, which was hanging on the ironing board. His whole body was squished into the sleeve, and he couldn't escape. He didn't miaow to be released, but just kind of...hung there until we noticed. Good times.

Snooks1971 · 12/12/2024 22:43

Our two rescue brothers, yes let’s go to this warm slightly damp space 😅

Dcat likes to climb into recently-emptied shopping bags. Then he glares resentfully as if he doesn’t have his choice of the whole house’s beds, sofas, and radiators, but a cruddy, cold, bag for life, as if I’m the worst person ever 😭

Sadly no photos. But all three of my cats love to open my wardrobe door and go and sleep in there. I really don't understand it! It is a hard surface for a start!

My two do the same although my wardrobe also has a floordrobe inside it so they curl up in my cllothes and make them furry. The older one taught the younger one how to open the door!

SilverBlueRabbit · 12/12/2024 22:53

Our 21 year old Tortie has any number of cosy beds. DH even puts the electric blanket on low for her if she needs it.

The past few days she has been squished in the half full open box of photocopier paper.

(I'll get a picture tomorrow. Right now she is on an empty Aldi bag in the hallway).

Kalettesarethebest · 12/12/2024 23:01

He has cat beds but this is where he prefers!

Not all today, but under the chair when the heated floor is on, in my ottoman bed and in my knicker drawer/box. Thanks dcat

40 years ago so no photos but I grew up with a cat that often slept on top of kitchen cupboards and once fell down the back of the larder cupboard. Thankfully it was on the divide in a kitchen diner rather than against a wall.

She liked to sleep in the waste paper basket.

My little sister had a Big Yellow Teapot and she fitted very nicely in that.

She went crazy for chlorine and would crawl into the bag with my brother's swimming kit.

On one occasion we did lose her then remembered my dad had taken up the floorboards in the airing cupboard, earlier (another favourite place). So up they came again until she emerged.

SleepPrettyDarling · 12/12/2024 23:44

One morning I opened a drawer to take out a pair of jeans, and was greeted by a gorgeous stretching pud. He must have been in there 9 hours.

mondaytosunday · 13/12/2024 00:39

My cats go outside but I have a litter box in the downstairs loo which they haven't used for at least a year - it's covered and is in the cupboard with a cut out. So you can sort of see the clear litter box flap when sitting on the toilet. So sat down the other day and got a fright to see one of the cats staring at me - they were just chilling in there.
Otherwise if there's a box they are in it so don't have to look far.

sashh · 13/12/2024 03:59

I opened a desk drawer I found a sleeping tabby. On a radiator, on the sky box, on a shelf.

Oh and on the roof.

One of the fosters got on top of my wardrobe and I never saw him move, he must have come down in the night to eat and use the litter tray but I never saw it.

I have my work cut out for me with this one. A different spot every time I go looking for her.

No such forethought on our part @Stormyweatheroutthere. We only realised he was the same colour as the sofa when we got him when he was 9 weeks old. It does work wonders on masking the fur though 😂
