The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

I’ve had a migraine today. DP has been away at a thing, and Louie was an absolutely shit nurse. (Our previous cat would have cuddled into bed with me.) I feel a bit better now. DP is on his way home and Louie is snoozing on the couch, still not caring.

We have a very bougie bakery/coffee shop which sells criminally expensive goods - but is staffed by adults with learning disabilities (it’s a community enterprise thing) so I always pop in after getting my hair done over the road. Yesterday I picked up some sausage rolls which cost a million pounds. They were too dense and meaty for me, but Louie was very interested so I gave him a wee bit of meat before giving the remainder to the green kitchen waste caddy. You can see where this is going. I later found the caddy lying on its side, and Louie crouched over a half eaten sausage roll on the floor like some feral dog. I shouldn’t laugh but he was so funny. Obviously I removed the sausage roll and emptied the caddy - which is probably why he wasn’t up for being my emotional support cat today.

Loving the pink nose and nostrils on Thrifty Annie My tuxedo cat has a black nose but occasionally when she's in a position that I peer up it I think I can see deep pink inside the nostrils.

Now that's what you call a cat tree Rum. How stable is it? Does it have to be anchored to a wall or something?

Both of mine have pink noses and pink toeses. The late, much adored Bubbles had a black nose which looked like a little moustache. That was if possible even cuter.

Aw. Linney was so happy that we were home.

He jumped up on my bedside table this morning and got lots of stroking.

Then he walked round the bed, jumped up on Mr SB's bedside table, and knocked over a full glass of water.

It's good to be home.

Gizmo ate his breakfast, then he added to the confusion by knocking over his own water bowl, all over the carpet in the sitting room.

He then disappeared, no doubt to go and sleep at the neighbour's house.

That'll be your punishment for going on holiday Shell

Gizmo responds to being asked to learn to dance

I went through to make the bed and discovered a little man in it.

Oh look at that sweet innocent little baby 😍

Day Three of The Cat Tower and it's still in use - now by Raven and Fred. Toad isn't bothered and prefers to sit in an incredibly uncomfortable position against the newel post. He looks like a kind of cat monkey mixed with a grotesque/gargoyle. Ghostie still stakes her claim to the huge box.

Looks like he if defying you to move him! Bed doesn't have to be made right away, does it?.......

Breadcat24 · 05/08/2024 14:00

@TheShellBeach now you know where he has been spending his time while you were away!!

TheShellBeach · 05/08/2024 15:16

Well now - at midnight yesterday, we hadn't seen Gizmo for several hours, and it was absolutely pouring with rain.

Then the neighbour came over, and told us that Gizmo was asleep in his house - having been fed a mixture of dog food and a bowl of milk.

I could not get the neighbour to understand that Gizmo has a very dodgy tummy at the best of times, and that he was on special food prescribed by the vet, not to mention medicine.

I kept telling him not to give Gizmo dog food and cows' milk, but all he kept saying was "but he likes it" - which was not helpful. Neighbours has cognitive issues these days, so I was wasting my breath, trying to get him to understand.

So Mr SB had to get his waterproofs on, trudge over in the rain, and chase Gizmo out of the neighbour's house and back into ours.

It goes without saying that there was rampant diarrhoea in the litter tray this morning.

I am so ANGRY.

Mr SB told the neighbour not to let Gizmo in again - because the neighbour cannot be trusted not to feed the poor cat a load of crap.

you must be so cross!

Pudmyboy · 05/08/2024 16:46

Maddening @TheShellBeach ! If only Gizmo understood the link between food from the neighbour and his squeaky leaky bum the next day! Do you think the neighbour will listen to you and Mr. S?

It's very unfortunate because he's had two strokes and is having a lot of trouble understanding things.

I feel sorry for Gizmo, because it must be painful for him, having an upset tummy all the time.

We had it under control until we went away, then Gizmo decided to explore the neighbour's house.

The neighbour is lonely and probably loves having Gizmo now and again. But he can't understand about not feeding him.

TC is his own worst enemy. He'll rob food from anyone. Hopefully your neighbour will stop feeding him or letting him in (but I bet he won't 😳).
In other news, I have captioned this morning's photo as 'Lenny, don't do it'

Poor TC, and poor neighbour. I don't have any suggestions, it's a tough situation.

not ideal but would he understand if you gave him some approved food or treats to give Gizmo

I was wondering about this too: Gizmo has his second home and isn't given the bad stuff..... though that may work out expensive for Mr and Mrs S

How is Walter, @coastergirl ?

No ill effects, but I think I got it away quite quickly - much to his annoyance!

Making the most of the sunshine today. I’m on my final week of holidays now and I think he has got used to having a slave around pretty much full time for the last five weeks. DP is working abroad for a fortnight from the weekend, so he will be home alone quite a bit - usually we only have two days a week when both of us are in work.

He's good thank you. I confess I haven't called the vet, but he seems good. He's eating well, very affectionate and actually really playful the past few days. I'm keeping an eye on him.

Caught the cats sleeping together this morning. They jumped apart, I swear they just want me to think they don't get on. I managed to get a photo though.

Okay, clarification.

Gizmo goes over during the day to have a nap at our neighbour's. Quite often.

But not overnight.

Two phrases spring to mind:

A leopard (or self identified Bengal) doesn't change his spots (or stripes)

You can take Gizmo out of his neighbour's house but you can't take the urge to invade his neighbour's house out of Gizmo.
