Passports, buckets and spades - the Excellent Cats go on their holidays

The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

Meant to add that it must be so frustrating, Shell. Especially when your neighbour has problems that mean he can't understand about not feeding Gizmo.

Glad to read that Walter seems to be feeling better Coastergirl.

TheShellBeach · 06/08/2024 09:22

Well, Gizmo returned after being out for hours yesterday, but when Mr SB let him in, Linney got out.

This may have led to a bit of a marital argument as someone had to stay up to let Linney back in again.

But the good news is that Gizmo had his medicine, slept all night, and the litter tray was unused overnight.

Maybe the neighbour has understood? I think he's letting Mr G in, and enjoying having him in his house, but not feeding him??

Picard popped in to say hello.

Does Gizmo get on any better with Picard yet?

Does Gizmo get on any better with Picard yet?

OMG not really.

Hissing, growling, general wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Picard doesn't care, though. He just walks past Gizmo.

This is Cat One after has bitten me on the ankle because I wouldn’t give him my chair.
And Cat One being just a bit smug.
I think he has been taking Gizmo as a role model.

@TheShellBeach I think Gizmo is just jealous of how Picard casually strolls in after all his years trying to break into Grumpy's house.

@learieonthewildmoor is cat one looking smug because they got the chair post biting?

In other news if Breadcat keeps doing the inelegant position she is washing herself in on the lawn long enough for me to get a photo I might claw back dancing credits claiming she is doing "Oops upside your head" by the gap band - you possibly remember sitting on the floor legs akimbo making an arse of yourselves in the late 70's/ eighties?
No? .... just me then

Breadcat24: yes. I try not to reward bad behaviour, but then I get bitten. There are times I can get away with putting him on the cat chair - and there are times when I sit on the cat chair.

learieonthewildmoor · 06/08/2024 18:27

This could be a new competition.

@TheShellBeach excellent fangs

Think I may have worked out what's going on with Tobias's stomach, with him having very soft poos.

After the 8cm long hairball the other week, there was another on the upstairs hall floor last night. This is the 4th hairball in the last month, and distinctly different from those Girlcat has been doing for the last 8 years. In addition, Tobias seems to have shed more hair over the last year than Boycat & Girlcat combined over 7 years together. Tobias is a great groomer as well.

So I'm wondering if the soft poo may be related to him having loads of hair still in his belly? He's on a "slimming" dry food at the mo and I've been using up the last of the indoor I have, but I think I could try half and half diet and anti-hairball going forwards?

Thoughts etc welcome. But nothing that involves me giving him treats (he only eats fresh meat type treats like chicken or ham slices) or putting paste on his feet - I value my hands a bit too much to try that!

Pixiedust1234 · 06/08/2024 19:47

We used that hairball paste inside several bits of ham as we knew she would inhale it past her taste buds. Smearing it on her paw never worked unless I was supposed to clean the house thoroughly afterwards 🤔 She also loved the royal canin hairball but it is expensive compared to the paste/ham every few days.

Louie is so tired from dancing today he had to have a sleep on the ironing board.

Apparently he had been in the green kitchen waste caddy again last night when DP got up for work this morning - not sure what he was really after, but there was a Greek flatbread lying on the counter…

Bitey beauty!

Papergirl1968 · 06/08/2024 21:12

Louie is doing his best Oliver impression there. He just needs an empty bowl
in his paws.
So glad Walter is ok, @coastergirl

He has very good posture as well as being cute!

RumNotRun · 06/08/2024 21:24

Louie and the Greek Flatbread (which sounds like a great TV episode or book) reminds me of my lovely Pigeon who had a real thing for Lidl crusty rolls. On Saturday mornings I'd often go to Lidl and buy several rolls for the weekend. If I left them out on the side in just the Lidl paper bag, Pigeon would often steal at least one and take little bites out of it.

She also loves eggs, especially fried eggs, so much so that I bought her a catnip fried egg which she would carry around in her mouth. She was such a character.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 06/08/2024 22:15

@Papergirl1968 on the CP website profile they had a video of him and said he was auditioning for Oliver!

@RumNotRun oh beautiful Pigeon 🤍

@Pixiedust1234 we had that paste for our girl when the vet thought we had hairballs (actually not at all) and she would lick it off my fingers, she loved it. Louie is on the RC hairball biscuits because we had a huge sack of them left after we had her pts, and I figured we might as well use them up. Now of course he rejects all other dry food (despite being a terrible bin raker!) and I had a new massive sack costing a million pounds delivered this afternoon.

🤣🤣

I've given up costing cat food.
