The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

We captured him and put Bravecto Plus on the back of his neck.

Tbf I probably wouldn't speak to you either if you did that to me 😂

Do you get fleas, ticks and worms, then?
🤣🤣🤣

Not yet, but prevention is better than cure 🤣

RumNotRun · 12/09/2024 21:49

When I've found the occasional flea on me I have wondered if Advantage/Frontline/Bravecto would work on humans. I guess you'd have to use a lot of pipettes though.

LostCats · 12/09/2024 21:54

Cost a small large fortune too!

Papergirl1968 · 12/09/2024 22:17

Poacher turned gamekeeper, @Judystilldreamsofhorses
Journalism on a regional paper (although never the type who would sell my own granny for a story), followed by PR for the police which I absolutely loved, but the location moved due to what turned out to be a short lived “strategic alliance” between two forces and with two extremely challenging children it would have impossible. So I took a career break and then became a GP receptionist!

Allergictoironing · 13/09/2024 06:33

I have been very proud of Tobias since last week's "incident" with the attempt to get him to his MoT.

On Wednesday, we had a fabulous cake sale at work (all home made, and for a Foster Children charity as well), and @Anniegetyourgun came round when I got home to collect the results of my plundering of the sale.

And not only did Tobias come into the living room while she was in there, and still standing up, but came up to me for scritches and strokes. He wandered around for a bit and kept fixing us with his "I'm a poor pathetic starving waif" look until I produced sliced chicken which he took from both our hands.

He then flomped on his side guarding one of his Molly's Mice (a common relaxed position) right up until she stood up to leave, then watched her leave from the 4th stair.

Last couple of days he's joined Girlcat in swarming me when I come down in the mornings demanding strokes & leaning into them, and has come round the coffee table in the evenings specifically for a quick scritch.

This isn't going to stop me asking the vets if there's anything I can give him before his next attempt at an MoT as well as the Feliway & Zylkene!

LostCats · 13/09/2024 07:12

Ah Allergic. Thank is so wonderful.
I remember months ago you wrote that he was looking wistfully at you stroking Girl Cat as if he was thinking ‘I want that for me’ which broke my heart and now he has it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

TheShellBeach · 13/09/2024 12:11

KLAXON!!

DRUMROLL!!

Gizmo jumped on to the windowsill, to get back into the house, for the very first time.

Admittedly, he did it from the top of the bin, which is further to jump than the easy method favoured by all the other cats, but HE DID IT.

Maybe the Solensia is finally starting to work.

The silly sod also discovered that the window was closed, and stood glaring at Mr SB and me. Then, when I tried to open the window, he wouldn't back up out of the way.

I'm beginning to think he's basically not very intelligent.

And the boys shared the sofa last night, sleeping one at each end.

Gasp!! 😱😱😱

Your boy does seem rather laid back in having TC foisted on him and I'm very impressed with his gold star behaviour. I never knew it was possible with cats 😂

I saw this on Twitter and immediately thought of Linney! 😹

As well as looking like Linney, that cat shares another of his characteristics - getting covered in messy substances which render him grey.

We have a new cat in town (you can just see it over the other side of the wall) and Louie is not at all happy. Growling! Look at him standing up like a little man to see it better.

@Papergirl1968 my friend had a very similar scenario - local journalist then comms person for the police. Her kids are older now but she then went back and did a teaching postgrad and is now a secondary school teacher. (Rather her than me!)

Papergirl1968 · 13/09/2024 20:29

Oh well done Tobias and Gizmo!
And Louie, so outraged at another cat invading his territory!
I wouldn’t last a day as a teacher, Judy. 😂

RumNotRun · 14/09/2024 13:14

That picture of Louie is so funny. Bless him.

I was feeling judged earlier. I don't know what I'd done or hadn't done, but clearly I had done something terrible.

They look like three magistrates on the bench, about to decide whether you should be fined for buying the wrong cat food.

Is this the invader? Do I get a prize?

Pixiedust1234 · 14/09/2024 13:59

That's not where I was looking Blush I thought it was to the left/behind the window divider.

Allergictoironing · 14/09/2024 15:34

I'm with Pudmyboy on the photo, straight away thought it was there.

Called the vets yesterday to put in a request that I could have some sort of sedative for Tobias for our next attempt at getting him in there. I explained not just because of the amount of damage I'd taken, but the experience had been clearly terrifying for him - poor lad was in a complete panic. Nurse on the phone said she would pass it on to the vets & to call back middle of next week to see if they will give me anything.

In the interim he's been acting very sweet asking for strokes etc then suddenly shying away as if he's remembered that I tried to trap him. Girlcat just looks at him with down her long nose with a superior expression then wanders over for chin scritches.

Pudmyboy · 14/09/2024 13:37

Yes it is! DP took the photo from inside but he went out and apparently the intruder came over to see Louie (and him) but Louie was having absolutely none of it. Our neighbour two doors up recently moved abroad and is renting out her house - I messaged her today asking if the tenants had a cat (it would fit time-wise as it’s been hanging about all week but we’ve never seen it before now) and she said they are not supposed to. So possibly an illegal.

Poor Tobias @Allergictoironing - our girl used to howl all the way to the vet/all the time she was in the box/all the way home, but was generally compliant otherwise. That was one of the reasons we chose not to do chemo with her as she would have found the regular visits so distressing. (Although if it had been treat to cure rather than prolong her life for a short time we might have considered pushing through.)

RumNotRun · 15/09/2024 09:06

I was outside feeding the birds this morning and had my usual millions of pigeons around me. Fred decided that I was obviously inviting him to a catch-your-own buffet so started slinking outside like a big scary predator....until a pigeon saw him, flew up into the air, Fred was terrified and ran back inside where he sat crying at me until I came in and shut the terrifying birds out 😂

TheShellBeach · 15/09/2024 11:45

Oh dear. I spoke too soon.

Gizmo made a second, confident attempt on the Get On To The Windowsill At All Costs manoeuvre.

And missed.
