The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

Bloody hell Allergic!! I didn't think your Tobias was such a violent cat. As a doctor (well, the daughter of one so pretty much the same thing) I prescribe a very large gin/rum/whisky/wine for you when you finish work. Or now, I don't mind 😁

TheShellBeach · 06/09/2024 10:54

Wow Allergic.

That sounds awful.

I find that picking up whichever cat needs to go into a basket is easier if I just grab the igloo they're in, and tip the cat into the upended basket.

It wasn't nastiness,. just fear I reckon - he's a VERY nervous cat! Sadly he wasn't in his igloo, he was pootling around upstairs so I tempted him down with lik e lix right next to the crate. But unfortunately he managed to wriggle away just as I grabbed him & that's when the fun started.

Got him trapped in their bedroom at one stage but Gods that cat can move fast, twistiest cat I've ever met too despite him being a touch on the podgy side. And I would never have thought he could get into some of the spaces he found!

All mopped up now, and tea taken so just have to get into work clothes & leave them in peace for a few hours. There WAS a very brief sighting as I turned round from my desk but he saw my eyes on him & fled upstairs.

Think I'm going to have to strap my wrist up, plasters won't cover the area which is about 2 inches by 3.

The buggers are like that. Even the podgy ones.

Minicat is very nervous and at 2 years old hasn't been fully examined by the vet since she was spayed at 6 months old because... cat. Just about manage to get the booster injections in and then it's Barnum's Circus in the vet's surgery! So after the last visit which involved the vet, 2 nurses and me, they gave me Gabaprentin to administer to MiniCat prior to letting her darken their door again 😁

Updated to say - poor you! Hope you heal ok 💐

Breadcat24 · 06/09/2024 14:05

Breadcat is very nervous- she does not attack she cries and howls and wets herself.
I have started to get a mobile vet to come out and it is honestly not as expensive as you think
My local one is called "The travelling vet" but there are ones everywhere.
Should think it makes things easier if you have several cats to wrangle.

Maybe wash your wounds with hibiscrub?

RumNotRun · 06/09/2024 14:53

Good suggestion Bread but I'd have the problem of getting them all to be in one room where they couldn't hide. My house is a work in progress so is full of places for a cat to disappear. Fred in particular is terrified of people so as soon as he hears someone at the door he disappears into another dimension and doesn't reappear until a few hours after The Visitor has gone.

Oh I would have loved to get a mobile vet for Pud, poor love hated his crate and wee'd in it every trip! I did ask his vet but they didn't do home visits and I didn't think to ask if they knew any vet that did, they were quite open and friendly so I thought they would say..... they did recommend Dignipets for his final moment, who were great.

Linney, relaxing in the garden.

I think Linney wins the relaxed outdoor cat competition.

Toad sends in his entry for relaxing indoors.

Gosh Rum, what an enormous furry tarantula you have living in your house Shock

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/09/2024 18:43

Back home from holidays.
Basil and Sybil are clearly very pleased to see us. Karl has been very purry.
Lenny however couldn't give a shit - drifted in an hour after we got back, demanded food then pissed off outside again 🤣.
Basil has finally got off my lap and is now relaxing on the floor.

I did wonder what that actually was Rum 🤣

Papergirl1968 · 06/09/2024 20:43

Oh Allergic. 😮 Hope you’re ok.
Great picture of Toad. I’m not totally sure which way is up but I think he’s lying on his back with his head and front legs dangling?
How is Prince, Lana? Is he pining?

RumNotRun · 06/09/2024 23:42

He's lying on his front but his right arm is at a funny angle so his shoulder blade is poking up, but yes his head, left arm and tail are all dangling. Apparently it's comfortable.

Basil is showing off his lovely teeth in that photo @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Allergictoironing · 07/09/2024 08:43

I seem to have been forgiven already for the attempted kidnapping of Tobias yesterday. Bum scritch accepted when I went to collect last night's bowls and shoulder, bum, and even jaw & chest scritches welcomed while he was eating.

I may have got away reasonably lightly too. Right leg still looks like I forced my way through a bramble patch in places, left inside of the wrist does still look a bit like a half-hearted suicide attempt but healing nicely, bloodiest puncture healing nicely too. Only one still really troubling me is the base of the thumb which is achy & the entire joint feels bruised. Keeping a close eye on it, in case of infection.

nettie434 · 07/09/2024 09:56

Linney and Toad are looking very relaxed and handsome, Shell and Rum.

Does it feel good to be home, Grumpy, despite all the excitements of the Not My Various Pets and Wildlife in Cornwall?

Glad your injuries are beginning to heal, Allergic. It says a lot about how much progress Tobias has made that he seems to have recovered from the shock of you trying to take him to the vets.

TheShellBeach · 07/09/2024 10:13

There seems to be an unpleasant pile of cat sick on the front step. Hmm.

I haven't noticed it, though. Not me.

I expect Mr SB will discover it, the next time he opens the door...........

ha ha Shell, I do the same 😁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/09/2024 10:19

Although Mrs G. denies it, she does this sometimes too.
(Why isn't there a cat vomiting emoji?)

Men are much better than women at clearing up sick.

Obviously this is nonsense but I'm posting in solidarity with Mrs G and with Lost Cats

@nettie434
Thanks for asking - honestly I would quite happily have had another week or two. But I have to go back to work on Monday 😭.
Nice to be greeted by our mogs though. 😻

@Allergictoironing - most impressed with your war-wounds and glad Tobias has forgiven you shouldn't it be the other way round. Hope your thumb heals up soon.

Papergirl1968 · 07/09/2024 11:29

Yes, do keep a close eye on it, Allergic. And how you feel generally - temperature etc.
