The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

@Supersimkin7 I'm in tears, hearing about Havelock.

That's just so sad, but it sounds like he had a wonderful last day on earth. I'm really glad that he died NDN's arms.

Poor Prince, too.

RIP Have-a-Snack

I’ve been to that house. An old woman used to scream out of the window at tourists.

A quick line to let you know yesterday Havelock died suddenly of cancer. It was absolutely for the best - very aggressive tumour and only an hour’s discomfort.

On his last day on earth, Haveasnack woke me up by breaking into my house, stole Prince’s breakfast, hid, savoured the replacement breakfast and peed on the neighbour-who-doesn’t-like-cats’ expensive rug.

Shortly after a thieved lunch he had a cardiac arrest in the garden and died with full pain meds in NDN’s arms, looking at her while being cuddled.

Prince is really upset and won’t come in from the garden, where I am sitting with a candle to keep him company. NDN in bits.

Havelock was the naughtiest cat I have ever met. His sense of entitlement was a glory to behold. I adored him. His light does not dim in death, I should be sobbing but keep sniggering every time I think of him. Absolutely the right way to go, he didn’t suffer.

RIP, Sable Caesar.

Oh goodness what a shock!
May I ask: was Haveasnack known to have cancer? (I am guessing so with being on pain meds)...
I hope his last day was lived as gloriously as he would have wished.
Sounds like he will leave a huge naughty-cat shaped hole in the lives of those who adored and loved him. The name Sable Caesar sounds familiar: have you posted pics of him in the past?
Long may the sniggering at the memory of his antics continue, and I hope NDN eventually finds consolation that he died in her arms and he kept her in his gaze till the end💐

RumNotRun · 04/09/2024 02:53

Oh Super, I am so sorry to read about Havelock. Your poor NDN.

Papergirl1968 · 04/09/2024 04:56

I’m so sorry, @Supersimkin7
That sounds like absolutely the best way to go but it’s so painful for NDN, you, Prince and everyone who knew and loved him.
Your words paint a lovely picture of him. What a character he was 💔

HouseofHolbein · 04/09/2024 07:38

Oh I'm so sorry @Supersimkin7 😢 but at least he lived his life on his terms right until the last minute.

LostCats · 04/09/2024 09:15

Oh Super I am so sorry to hear about Havelock. He really did sound so amazing. His last day sounds perfect for the soul he was. My sincerest condolences to you, Prince and especially NDN.

Supersimkin7 · 04/09/2024 09:19

Thanks so much everyone - you’ve cheered us both up. Hugely.

Prince stayed up looking for Havers for the second night running so I sat with him in the garden.

We didn’t know he had cancer, but when NDN raced him to the vet they gave him morphine. The tumour was so aggressive they didn’t know how he was alive.

Havelock was so alive, that’s the joy of it.

You’re so right, he lived life on his terms. He didn’t have a single day not motivated by theft, acquisition of controlled substances (dreamies) or weaponised urination. Magnificent.

He bequeathed me the rug to clean
up.

LostCats · 04/09/2024 09:20

In tears but also having a huge giggle at his unbelievably naughty antics. What a guy.

Spandauer · 04/09/2024 09:28

Sounds like Havelock will definitely be carrying on as normal wherever he is. 🌈 ❤️
💐 to all who knew and loved him.

RumNotRun · 04/09/2024 09:30

I hope Prince is ok (and you and NDN of course).

My tip for the rug - just get rid of it. I have never managed to get the smell of cat wee out of a rug, despite trying all the products and advice.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 04/09/2024 11:49

@Supersimkin7 - I am so, so sorry 😢 It was an absolute joy to read about his antics and I'm happy to know his last day was lived to the max. Sending love to you, Prince and NDN. xx.

No cats visible in Port Isaac at all 😿. (and far too many BLOODY DOGS, but a walk along the coastal path provided a NMS and a NMO (Oystercatcher).

@Supersimkin7 So sorry about Havelock - what a character he was

RumNotRun · 04/09/2024 15:18

My neighbour knocked my door as she had found a cat who she thinks was on a lost cat poster. I did say he looked a bit chunky to be lost, but he was very grubby and had some bald patches so ok. I was in charge of keeping an eye on NMC while she went to get the phone number off the poster.

NMC has an attitude problem. He was all friendly then out of nowhere started growling and attacked me. It turned out he isn't the one from the poster anyway, just some random chunky savage beast. I reckon he'd give TC a run for his money.

I was not stupid enough to be tempted by the fluffy belly.

I confess I'm never tempted by Guillermo's belly, either.

He bit my toe this morning, luckily through the duvet, but I didn't appreciate it, and I kicked him off the bed.

So he hissed at me.

Meanwhile, in other news, Linney is at last asserting his dominance by not letting Gizmo/TC/Guillermo get first dibs at the food or the cat treats. He makes the New Cat wait till he's finished.

But I have a dilemma.
Gizmo is due his Bravecto in a day or two.

I think I'll get the gauntlets out. Wish me luck.

You need those really long bird handling leather gloves.

NMC went from pushing his head against my fingers to growling and slashing with no warning or change in body language. I've never known a cat that's switched so quickly without some indication.

Poor NDN, but I can't really say poor Havelock as it seems he went the way any cat would prefer. What a beauty he was.

Meanwhile Rum's NDN brings her a savage people eater. That belly is not a "aren't I cute and fluffy", it's a "come on if you think you're 'ard enough".

Speaking of cute and fluffy, here's one of Izzy the other day, just a random cat asleep on chair shot but it's just so C&F that it needs to be shown off. I've decided her full name should be Isadora because she Isadorable.

Allergictoironing · 04/09/2024 20:47

Poor Super, Prince and NDN 😢. Havelock went the best way possible though - being an absolute terror all day then Bang - gone. As others have said, it's the way he would have wanted to go.

Isadora really suits Izzy - she is even more adorable IRL than she is in the pictures. Joy just seems to burst out of her all the time.

I am starting to plan my armouring for Friday morning - Tobias's MoT time (eek). Usually I try to get the earliest appointment I can so I can grab whichever cat as they are eating breakfast & bung them in the carrier. But Friday is 10:30, and I can't leave the poor thing crated for about 3 hours, so there will have to be sneakiness done with a Tuna loin or similar. Couldn't really leave it too much longer, & their favorite vet is off on holiday next week for ages.

Supersimkin7 · 04/09/2024 23:27

Thanks everyone for being so nice. All the kitties here are extra lovely today.

I should say 'poor you keep an eye on that in case it gets infected' but really all I want say your beetle tattoo is amazing!

RumNotRun · 05/09/2024 22:27

Thanks Pud. It's about 10 years old now. I have a spider on the other hand but it hasn't lasted very well.

I know I'm overweight and I'm trying to lose weight but Toad has just confirmed it for me by kneading my stomach while purring his socks off, like he'd never felt anything so lovely and squishy before 😂 I'm going to take it as at least someone loves me the way I am!

Allergictoironing · 06/09/2024 10:29

Well that went well - NOT!

Cat is currently hiding feck knows where, can't see him anywhere though possibly he's discovered how to get inside the covers of the sofa.

Hand has finally just about stopped bleeding, as has the inside of my wrist (he missed a vein by about 0.5cm). Right calf, thigh & buttock didn't bleed TOO much to start with after he ran up me, but the trousers need to be soaked along with the top I was wearing to get the blood out.

Vet has been cancelled of course, next step is to make a cuppa & disinfect the wounds, change clothes then call the boss to say I'll be in a little earlier than I thought!

Then plan the NEXT try for a few weeks time...
