Has anyone read Cats In The Belfry by Doreen Tovey?

No,but I have looked it up and as it is free on Kindle Unlimited, I have borrowed it. I'll let you know what I think. I'm reading a book at the moment which is quite hard going so it may be some time before I get to the Cats.

Lexter says thank you @Toddlerteaplease Most people in real life who have met him think he's weird looking so I put photos on here where he has fans.

Lexter is cute!

How are you and Penelope doing?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2024 18:32

@RumNotRun what breed is he? Penelope seems fine. I'm really missing constantly having Cheddar in my face. The house is so quiet. Penelope only cuddles at night. Which is lovely, but Cheddar was full on.

RumNotRun · 15/04/2024 19:30

He's just a moggy, lost all his fur a few years ago for an unknown reason and it's growing back. He still has a few naked bits on his face and back legs which is why he looks... unusual 😁

It's horrible when any pet passes but when they were a "velcro pet" it is really difficult. Hugs to you both, you may find Pen gets more clingy over the next few days.xx

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2024 19:50

"Velcro pet" that's exactly what she was! My cat sitter sent me a selfie, with Cheddar draped round her neck, and a message saying that the lessons in personal space, hadn't gone as hoped. 🤣🤣🤣 That pretty much summed her up.

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 15/04/2024 20:03

Lexter is the cutest x

RumNotRun · 15/04/2024 20:04

My lovely Alizè was a velcro cat. It took a few weeks but after he was PTS, a couple of the other cats started being way more affectionate, like they were stepping up to be my new velcro cat. Funny creatures.

We may have made a tactical error. Bought Scrumbles today because the shop had run out of Go-cat.
Let's just say they all like it, a lot, even before getting it out of the bag.
This may end up being a very expensive mistake 😲

Scrumbles is brilliant! I only discovered it recently. It's revolutionised newest rescue boy's stiiiiiinky poos!!

JaceLancs · 15/04/2024 22:05

New and interesting hunting behaviour from Finlay here
Before his accident at 5 months old he had only been allowed out for a few weeks and hadn’t really started hunting as too chilly for a lot of wildlife and he was only small
Since recovery and being allowed out he is trying with strange results
Last week he came in proudly with something in his mouth which he went under my desk with and played with a bit as they do! It wasn’t big enough to be a rodent and I was quite worried as previous DCat had a bit of a bat habit so decided to try and rescue the poor little creature when I realised he had brought me home his first ivy leaf!!!
On Thursday I came down in the morning to find some soggy bread, on Friday it was a small square slice of wholemeal bread, on Saturday more bread but this time buttered with cheese on it!!! I can only assume he has been raiding neighbours garden bird tables
Last night it was a large black stag beetle which scurried off under my washing machine
Not sure what will be next!
He is growing up fast

I'm so sorry Toddler

Toddlerteaplease · 15/04/2024 22:44

Penelope is cuddly. But only on my bed during the night. She really doesn't trust me not to grab her and stick things in her ears. As unfortunately that's what happened since the day she came home!

RumNotRun · 16/04/2024 06:24

@JaceLancs He looks very content and smug in that photo. He's so gorgeous and hopefully he will keep to only hunting inanimate objects (fingers crossed the stag beetle was a mistake!)

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 16/04/2024 08:45

Arthur is in the Cone of Shame for two weeks under orders of the vet. A cyst on his head burst and he must stop catching it when he’s scratching to allow it to heal.

TheShellBeach · 16/04/2024 10:35

Arthur looks really pissed off there.

OP posts:
DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 16/04/2024 12:38

@TheShellBeach He’s in meltdown. Not happy at all. I’ve swapped the rigid cone for a soft one as he was finding it difficult to eat. 😟

RumNotRun · 16/04/2024 12:43

I have just been in the kitchen making Scottish ginger cake (I don't know what makes it Scottish other than the Good Housekeeping book calling it that). I've left some bits to soak in the sink and Fred is making the loudest most pitiful meows while walking along the work surface.

I have no idea what is wrong with the dopey git. He has food, fresh water, clean litter trays. It's only been since I started making the cake. I think either he hates ginger and is making his disgust known, or he wants some cake. Oddball

Toddlerteaplease · 16/04/2024 12:48

Could you get him a buster collar instead?

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 16/04/2024 12:59

What’s a buster collar please?

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 16/04/2024 13:02

Ah I’ve looked. I need to keep him from catching the top of his head with his back feet when he’s scratching. We need the burst cyst to dry up and scab over. Fingers crossed the soft cone will be effective x
